My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Tuesday

Izzy would like to show you the yarn we are going to use to knit socks for my father:

This is Regia 6-ply, same as what I’m using for Dave’s socks. I won’t have to make these socks quite as large — thankfully. On Dave’s socks I’ve got maybe 5 inches left to do on the leg.

And the obligatory Valtos update photo is here. I’m working along on the back. I’m about 15 rows from starting the armhole shaping.

This is what’s been going on in the Washington DC area. Not good.

    Hi Wendy,

Have you knit with the Regia 4 ply? If you have, I was wondering how you adjust your pattern (needle size and number of stitches).

    Hi Melissa,

I usually knit socks with Regia 4-ply or other sock weight yarn. I’m knitting the 6-ply on size 1 needles and getting 7 st/inch — I knit the 4-ply on size 0 and get 8 st/inch. So I multipled the number of inches in circumference that I wanted for the sock by 7 to get the total stitch count. I don’t follow a pattern — just always knit socks according to this formula.

    Wendy,
We are all saddened about what is going on in the Washington area. It is very scary, and leaves me feeling that these things can happen anywhere. Hope you are all well, and that they find this inhumane being very soon. It is just so sad.

    Ona positive note…
Valtos is really lovely, and your little Izzy just bightens my day and makes me go hug my sweet kitties even more. Thanks as always for sharing your knittng and Izzy with us!

Hi Kateri — thanks! It does make you wonder what’s going to happen next. I feel sorry for parents sending their children to school today in this area.

It’s terrible what’s going on, but the comment by Mr. Moose: “Now we’re stepping over the line.”… is he implying that the shootings of the mother and the elderly man were alright, but *now* we’re over the line?? I don’t understand people, sometimes. The person who is doing this, OR the general public…

On an up note; I always like you’re blog. Lovely progjects and that oh so cute cat!
