My current work in progress:

1. Strandwanderer, designed by Lea Viktoria, knit from Wollmeise Merino "Pure" in the "Zenzi" colorway on a 3.25 mm (U.S. size 3) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

I vant to be alone . . .

izzy oct24 I vant to be alone . . .

Izzy was being antisocial last night. It’s probably my fault. Earlier she happened upon one of her catnip mice and went bonkers over — acting silly and crazed. Izzy hasn’t given any of her toys a second glance in years. Whenever I present her with a new catnip mouse for Christmas, she sniffs it politely, pokes at it once, and turns away in disdain.

So when she went gaga over a catnip mouse, I committed the unpardonable sin.

I laughed at her.

So she punished me by ignoring me until she was hungry.

I finished Valtos last night. Am I cool or what? I’ve got a crappy photo of it here. By the time I finished sewing it together it was dark and I had to use the flash. But I’ll undoubtedly get a better photo this weekend.

And I started some socks in a green Regia ringel. Photos on Monday . . .

  1. The sweater is beautiful. Love the pattern. Have a good weekend.

Yay, another Valtos! That picture actually isn’t bad, I can see the pattern clearly. Did you have yarn left? I bought one extra skein, and ended up not opening it, so I whipped up a quick pair of mittens.

  3. Thanks Melissa :-)

And Caroline, I do have a full skein left over, even though I didn’t buy extra. I was thinking it would make a yummy warm hat for someone. Butr mittens wouldn’t be a bad idea either. They’d work up fast in that weight.

  4. Beautiful…just beautiful.

It looks differnet put together than I was expecting. As you posted your progress, I wasn’t sure what I thought of the ribbing – but I like it alot now that I see the sweater as a whole.

    Congrats!

  5. Thanks Teresa — it looks a lot better being work that lying flat, too. :-) There’ll be pix on Monday . . .

  6. Wendy, it’s gorgeous – and I agree, the pic looks fine and the pattern’s clear. The ringel sounds cool – can’t wait to see the new socks. I’m looking forward to starting my next pair (it’s killing me not to, really) I think I’m going to make my Mommy a pair with the Iris Lorna’s Laces you sent me.
I hope you wear the Valtos always in happiness and good health!

  7. Thanks Kate! and what a coincidence — I knitted MY Purple Iris Lorna’s Laces into socks for my mom for Christmas (but don’t tell her!) — photo here:

I think Izzy’s also pouting because you finished Valtos and she knows you’ll be getting a lot of attention for us out here in cyberspace! Lovely work as ever, Wendy! Is Valtos only available through The VY website?

  9. lindsey-brooke says:

Of course, I meant to say “from us”!

  10. You could be right. Valtos IS only available from Virtualyarns. But they do great mail order service.

  11. BEAUTIFUL!!! I love Valtos! It looks very comfy and warm! Have a great day!

  12. Yes Wendy – you definitely are cool! Great sweater.

  13. Love the sweater. It is beautiful. It is making me itch to start my Kinsale (or Inishmore, have to swatch two separate yarns Sunday) now instead of Monday AFTER I finish my fathers Aran vest. One more armband and put on the buttons and sew the side seams and ends and it is done.

  14. Gorgeous sweater!!! Virtual hugs (or soft pats if she’s like my cat) for Izzy.
