My current work in progress:

1. Drachenfels, designed by Melanie Berg, knit from Madelintosh Pashmina in the Black Walnut, Seasalt, and Mineral colorways on a 4 mm (U.S. size 6) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

And the Winner Is . . .

Ande in Vancouver, B.C., who sent in this gem:

One day Ande was driving her Jeep,
And ran into a flock of loose sheep.
She gave one a pull,
and off came the wool!
Was there ever a sweater so cheap?

This was a tough one! My judge narrowed it down to 20 (I had close to 100 entries) and had one helluva time picking an ultimate winner. I told her to just pick the one that tickled her fancy the most, and she picked Ande’s very cute rhyme. There were so many great entries — I’d love to publish them all, but I’m afraid I don’t have time to spend coding them right now for posting. (See last week’s whining about being extremely busy.)

Thanks Ande, and thanks to everyone else who participated. We had a lot of fun with this!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Hank 8 News

I finally finished the ribbing and I’m into the body pattern — see?

hank mar16 And the Winner Is . . .

This is totally addictive knitting. We watched three movies* this weekend, two of them fast-paced. I found myself knitting much faster during the fast-paced movies.

Okay, from now on, only action-adventure or sci-fi thrillers for me!

*About a Boy, The Scorpion King, Minority Report.

  1. BE-EWE-TEE-FUL!!! :) Wow, that sweater is going to be gorgeous, Wendy!! Now I’m really going to have to check in daily to see it!! :) Thank you for letting us peek in at your knitting!! :)

  2. Hank is looking wanderful already. The photo in the book only hints at the depth ,complexity and beauty of the yarn colours.Lovely.

  3. wow!wow! wow! hank is handsome, and i even have the original colors stashed away for the day i can do it justice! meanwhile the are aging like fine wine…

  4. Lovely sweater. The fact that you made progress on such a purty thing while watching it almost redeems “The Scorpion King” for me.

    *Almost*.
    :)

  5. That is an EXCELLENT limerick, and perfectly appropriate for the day. I’m so jealous, even though I wouldn’t be able to wear Kelly Green (unless I wanted to explain all day why I didn’t have a liver disease). Congrats Ande. (and beautiful sweater, as usual, Wendy).

  6. Wendy, that sweater is going to be beautiful! I am just awestruck by your progress! How the heck do you do it???

Congrats to Ande the limerick winner. I still think I could have won if I’d ever been able to finish my second limerick — it had my husband’s name instead of mine, and the main rhyme was with “vexed.” I was too busy on Thursday to work on it, and came up with the ending on the way home, but it was too late to enter. Boo Hoo!!!

  7. WOW! Wow! W O W! I love Henry!
And what a BEAUTIFUL guest kitty! And of course, Izzy is looking lovely today as well!
THanks for the sunshine today Wendy!

  8. The limmerick is very cute! and Hank is off to a great start!

    Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

  9. BTW…the trip to ThreadBear was so much fun! I fondled enough J&S for both of us Wendy!

  10. Holy green things! you are so fast! Love the sweater. And Izzy is always my favorite.

  11. Heck, by the time I finish writing this your Hank will probably be done. I can’t say as I’ve ever seen a more prolific knitter! It’s gaw-geous!

  12. eeek! the tagboard ran away! say it isn’t so!

hank looks like he’s going well. i got sweaters from camp – finally – and all i can think of with half the designs is how i’d only do them if i can reduce the colors and thereby minimize the horizontal striping effect. bad me. ahem.

n-cat wants to be guest kitty:
    http://www.starlust.org/meow/
(d-cat doesn’t want to be guest anything, as he died in September 2001, the day before That happened. B-cat has some better, newer pics I should put up one of these days.)

  13. Wow, Wendy… a fairisle I like more than Oregon! I didn’t think that could happen. :-) I can’t wait to see how the whole sweater turns out. Now if only we could learn the secret of the European substitutions!

  14. Waah the tagboard seems to have disappeared! I came looking for Wendy’s Wisdom on lace and the venue has vanished!!

  15. Caroline — email me your question. :-) Or ask it here . . .

  16. Wendy, wow!!! You really got moving on that sweater! I hope that you’re having a blast with it. : )

  17. Wow, Wendy, the sweater is looking just awesome. Portia is a beautiful kitty! Congrats on the limerick, Ande, it was great. :)
