My current work in progress:

1. "T-Rex," designed by Rebecca Danger, knit from Blue moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock in the "Lucky" colorway on U.S. size 3 needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Oh my gosh . . .

I thought I was busy at work. I didn’t know the meaning of the word busy until yesterday.

(Note to myself: Hunt down the guy who left on vacation yesterday so that his very large portion of the process we are working through was foisted onto me. Then stab him with steel dpns.)

Just kidding . . . sort of. Y’all feel sorry for me — I’m in papercut hell. I think I oughta file for workers compensation.

Yes, I know I’m whining, but it’s my blog and I’ll whine if I want to. Wait . . . a song is coming to me . . .

Thanks for all the Blog-iversary wishes yesterday. It was nice to see such a huge outpouring of support! And I was very impressed with the poetry and singing in my comments!

All the praise quite turned Izzy’s head!

Baby Norgi Debuts

The prototype of the Baby Norgi was given to the intended recipients at a baby shower last Sunday — photographic proof:

shower Oh my gosh . . .

I think the parents-to-be look pleased, don’t you? The baby is due in May, so hopefully the sweater will be cosy for the little guy next winter.

Hank 8 Update

Y’all deserve a photo, I think.

hank apr01 Oh my gosh . . .

I’m getting there. I’ve got a fair bit to go to finish the body, but it’s in sight.

Time to steel myself for another day at work. On the off chance that any of you are remotely interested in knowing what I’m working on, click here. But I warn you, you’ll be disappointed.

  1. Eek ! It’s not that it’s boring ,as such ,,just …eek !
Hank is looking lovely, hope you have the energy to knit a bit this evening.
Baby Norgi looks to have been very well recieved ,and quite right too. There’s will be the best dressed baby for miles.
Only 2 days after this one has been survived until the weekend ;-]

baby looks even cuter in a “real” pose! keep going on hank, he’s beeeautiful. i just started ron schweitzer’s bayberry for dh. the shetland 2000 yarn is lovely to knit.

  3. I hope Izzy gave you plenty of TLC last night to get you through the day today! Hang in there!

  4. Sorry about your work-hell – I’ve been there! I didn’t notice in the NPRM, but do you have a statutory or court-ordered deadline? Or is it what my boss calls a “Star Trek” deadline — where management just says “We MUST get this done by [insert ridiculously soon date here] or the universe as we know it will collapse!” and no one ever really knows WHY the universe will collapse. Either way, deadlines are no fun, and losing a key team member in the middle is downright awful. (Same thing happened to me in my Xmas 2001 crisis. Every Xmas has a crisis for some reason!)

Good luck getting through the week; I hope you don’t have to work overtime! (Or at least that you get paid for overtime.)

Wendy…I look forward each day to your blog. I am more of a lurker because our server at work doesn’t allow for posting comments. I feel your pain regarding your Financial packet deadline. We have the same thing due at the hospital where I work AND at the same time had a Medicare Cost Report Audit. I, too, am discovering that it is possible to knit while suffering from mass papercuts. Love the current WIP. I just finished Dale’s Empire Canyon. Have a great day.

  6. Andrea, our comment period was extended to March 27 and we have to have the final rule published sometime next month, I think. Like you said, Star Trek deadline.

  7. RE: what you’re stuck with at work

I think I’ll stick with that line from “Joy Luck Club”

    I’d rather get rectal cancer.

  8. Wendy,
Government AND financial reports–oops, sorry I dozed off there! You have my sympathy. I can say that because I work for the government, too–but where I work, we all get to dress alike as well. Hank is “beautious” as is all your work.
Do you ever get in a knitting “funk” and have no desire to pick up the needles? I have several projects going (as always) and occasionally I will look at them all and say, “Eh!” and end up doing nothing.
Hope work gets better for you–Happy belated Blog day! (Did Izzy get a tuna cake?) Thanks for letting us peek in on your life.

  9. Cheryl, I think we all NEED those days. :) I know even after only knitting for the short time I have that I need a day off per week to just not knit. :) Kinda like exercise..except I seem to take more of those days off than I should..LOL.

Wendy, I feel for ya. Hope things get better soon. Too bad you can’t just take off for vacation when he gets back..see how he likes it. :)

Just curious, Wendy. Did you weave the ends on Henry VIII or knot them? Wondered which method you prefer. I think I remember you trying the knots on the last project you did, right? Henry is beautiful!!!! What a lucky “baby”, Mom, & Dad to receive such a wonderful gift as the Baby Norgi.

  11. Aack!! Now I know why you have this incredible creative streak at home. You need it to balance out work! Believe me I understand, after 8 hours of Systems Administration I NEED a few hours of knitting at night. Definately helps the stress level.

Beautiful Work, and Belated Happy Anniversary!

  12. I’m going to stop complaining about boring tiny measurements down the microscope. That’s nothing to your pain of StarTrek deadlines.
I saw my new PhD supervisor last night & he wants a chapter a month. Blah! means it will cut into my knitting time, but hey, I’m fed up of being poor. :-))

  13. Peter, my pet, boredom is in the eye of the beholder! :-)

  14. jennifer says:

Peter — on first read, I thought you said you saw “PhD survivor” — Hey, a new reality TV show!

  15. I can assure you, this new reality TV programme “PhD Survivor” isn’t that pretty. No hunky bronzed men with rippling muscles, long manes of sun bleached hair & tanned skin, or blonde bimbos in ill-fitting skimpy swimsuits (they should tell their mum’s that they are no longer child size 8). Just a steadily flabbier bleached white male & a supervisor with a flaying whip, demanding a chapter a month. Wait-a-minute! maybe I could pay off my bills if we showed it on the XXXX TV channel ;-)

  16. BTW Wendy – if you have tired of those plain Arany type sweaters of AS – can you tear out the pages & send them to me? With your run of FairIsle at the moment, I have a better chance of making some of them up in the meantime

  17. Gorgeous Baby Norgi sweater!!!!!!! SO impressed :)
