Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

So Hank’s neckband is done. Finished off the little facing Wednesday night but was too tired to start a sleeve at that point.

Here it is.

hank apr10 Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

And here’s a neck close-up. I haven’t sewn down the facing yet, obviously.

hank apr10a Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

So last night I cut open a sleeve steek.

hank apr10b Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

As you can see, Izzy wants to help. Here’s the photo of the cut open steek.

hank apr10c Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

And picked up the stitches around the armhole.

hank apr10d Sleeves? I Need Sleeves??!!

The I wound some more yarn into balls. I’ll spare you a photo of that. And knit a few rounds on the sleeve.

Is anyone still awake at this point?

Now I’m pondering what to make after Hank is a knit accompli. I was thinking Marina, but I might do my Roscalie cardi instead, as I know it’s a much easier pattern than either Hank or Marina.

But wait! I’ve got Dale St. Moritz waiting in the wings as well. Hmmmmmm . . .

Comments

  1. Henry is looking great. I have never knit a Starmore. Is there no kind of facing for the junction of where the sleeve meets the body? What is your preference…. to knit the knits and then attach to the body or to pick up and knit down? Have a good weekend.

  2. Looks like you need another poll, Wendy! :) I think Roscalie would be cute, but maybe you need a break from Starmore..so you could do the Dale..I know..I’m a big help. ;)

  3. Ooooh! You’re *SO* close to finishing Hank. Can’t wait to see it in all its glory :-)

As for your next project, St. Moritz gets my vote!

  4. And my vote goes to… Marina! I would love seeing it being made.
Why don´t you let Izzy chose, see which wool she prefers sleeping on? ; )

Wendy, when did you first become smitten with Starmore fair isle?

  5. Hank8 is *so* fabulous . . .wowie wow wow! I’m glad you showed the neck facing as well as the adorable and helpful Izzy. I send happy-weekend-vibes to the both of you!

  6. It looks great. It’s kind of hard at this time of year to accept the fact that our beautiful new FOs probably won’t get any wear until the fall!

  7. Can I vote for St. Moritz?

  8. BREATHTAKING!!! Not having ever been a Starmore fan I’ll have to step down from the voting booth this time. Though I do know of the Dale you’re speaking of and would love to see it in progress. Roscoe & Felix send “hellos” to Izzy.

  9. I am amazed daily as I look at the photos of your knitting progress. Hank 8 looks really good. It’s hard for me to imagine all those yarns and stitches getting put together. The product is just beautiful, it’s just the size and intricacy my mind has trouble with. Wow.

  10. I can’t ever imagine tiring of looking at beautiful pictures of knitting and/or yarn — or beautiful cats for that matter.
I love watching Henry coming together!

  11. Wow, Hank is gorgeous! Have you ever done an AS vest?–I don’t remember seeing one on your finished page. No fondess for vests? I look at your progress and am truly awed! I think Izzy even looks impressed, and if you can impress a cat–now that’s something!
Hope you have a great weekend (Izzy, too)!!

  12. Beautiful,Wendy, just beautiful……I have the yarn for this(as well as a few other Starmores)I’d love to make it for the hubster. But,here’s the rub.I’ve not made a steeked sweater before, and AM quite nervous.I’m very eager to do it though, but need a bit of hand holding I think.I’m being ridiculous I know, its not like losing my virginity……well…..how was YOUR first time Wendy?????My Izzy says “Hi” to your Izzy in that territorial stare each other down cat way.

  13. Beautiful Hank8, Wendy! Have you knit this for yourself of for da man? I vote for Marina next :-) Actually, since you’re ‘Wendy’ you could probably tandem knit Marina *and* the Dale and still finish them both in record time!

Still impressed after all these sweaters

  14. Hi Wendy,

Just wanted to say that Hank is absolutely spectacular!

  15. oh man-o-man…that’s absolutely beautiful, but Please, GET THAT CAT OFF OF IT! I know you love him, but if his nails get caught in it…my hearts thumping just thinking about it! Ok, my problem, not yours. :->
    What beautiful knitting, Wendy!

  16. Hello Wendy,

may I vote for St.Moritz? I got the wool a few weeks ago and my next project is this pullover. My Dad is skiing since he was 4 years old – at 5th july he has his 60th brithday. Do you know a better present for him????

But it is my first Dale, and the pattern is norwegian :-((, it would be much easier for me to knit, if I could see the pictures in your blog :-).

    Have a nice weekend

    Bine

  17. absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! and this adds to the ispiration to keep adding to the Knogsberg. I’m doing it in raspberry, off white and accent color is gray. quite strikeing but slow going for me. Have a great weekend Wendy!
    Janice

  18. Izzy, I love you!

  19. Henry looks great Wendy! AS has certainly captured the look of rich brocade (I am going by my shade card here -my pc makes the colours too bright, I think). Keep going – can’t wait to see it finished.

  20. Yeah, I’m going to vote for St Moritz too. I think you might like a change from AS, then do Marina after. Another, you could try. Look at the oldest want to do & see if you feel like releasing the yarn from the holdall. Just a thought.

  21. Wendy, you always blow me away!

I was teaching a few new knitters today about knitting in the round and the subject of steeks came up. They both went paper white, so shocked and frightened by the prospect of cutting a knitted garment. I directed them to you – you are a steeking queen!

  22. You work is beautiful. The rich patterning and colours of Henry VIII makes me want to add it to the list of sweaters to dream about. Thank you for sharing.
