My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Not Much Time . . .

. . . for blogging, I fear.

But you do get an updated photo of Hank. Amazingly, after an insane day at work, I actually got a bit of knitting done last night. So here is the first sleeve in all its splendor.

And here, just for grins, is a view of the shoulder seam, done with the three needle bind-off.

I do like the look of the three-needle bind-off.

Geane asked me yesterday, since I mentioned I was considering doing an “easy” sweater next, if I considered Henry hard. No, not really, I don’t. I find vertical patterns pretty simple to do. I think what I meant is that I’m thinking of doing something with fewer colors. I was tempted to do Marina, but the thought of keeping track of 21 different colors doesn’t appeal to me right now.

I think I’m gonna make Dale of Norway St. Moritz next. Not only is it fewer colors and larger gauge than an AS fair isle, but I don’t have to wind the wool into balls. Ahhhhhhh . . .

I’m thinking laziness will win out on this one.

Sweet little Izzy wants to say hello:

I added the link to the Tips page in my sidebar and on my knitting page. Check it out — there’s one more tip that Mary sent in last night — it’s a good one!

So glad to see you are thinking of St Moritz! I really enjoy knitting it. The color combination is beautiful and it is pretty straightforward knitting. Not too many three-colour rows and usually no more than five or six stitches between color changes. My last Dale project, Team Norge, was much more difficult to knit. After that experience I thought I’d never do another three-color row in my life!

can i ask if you did the 3 needle bindoff on henry inside out, so the ridge is on the inside? i’m working on ron schweitzer’s bayberry now, after just finishing an ann feiterlson fair isle. the bayberry has only 3 colors, and although i love the pattern (it reminds me of a weaver’s overshot) it’s a trifle boring to just see the same 3 colors over and over ;-)

Amazingly beautiful sleeve, done in amazingly fast time. I hope work is slower for you today.

I’ve asked a question in my blog about keeping continuity of pattern…now that you are working on the sleeves, maybe you can tell how you keep things so beautiful as you increase? Maybe not today, but when you are less busy? I find increasing and decreasing in pattern very hard!
I’m inspired as always, though, from your progress! Thanks!

Your 3-needle bind-off is perfection,Wendy! Can’t wait to see Henry on you—those colors will be terrific for you! I’m 7 inches into St.Moritz just from in-car knitting that’s not conducive to Fulmar. Will look forward to watching yours progress.

Three colors in a row! Don’t even talk to me about that–Jamieson’s Cottage Garden Cardigan strands 3 colors the ENTIRE sweater–that’s why it’s sitting in a corner-discarded in disgust!
Wendy, how is that row counter attached to the sweater? Your own invention? Looks like a great idea–otherwise, they always fall off the end of the circular needle.
Love Hank, and Izzy too–have a great day and try not to work too hard!

    Hah – I guess my finger-crossing worked Wendy :)

What do you use to hold your row counter to your sweater? I’d like to get something similar…

    Thank you!

argh. should have read all of the other posts before posting myself. Cheryl had the same question. :(

Looks like a small stitch holder to me…

Kewl! The bind off looks great. Wish I could use it on Fern but I have to seam a saddle instead (horizontal to vertical – blech!). You know, I think Izzy looks depressed. I think she really wants you to do Marina next ;-)

NO. Izzy says St. Moritz. I have been watching the Pet Psychic and I talk to my cat all the time. Trust me, I’m sure on this.

I think Izzy is depressed cos Mummy comes home all grumpy from work & has been feeding her the same flavoured tin of cat food for the last 2 weeks. Mummy, when do I get my chicken wings???
