My current work in progress:

1. Ashburn, designed by Melanie Berg, knit from Woolfolk Tynd in colorways 6, 7, and 8 on a 4 mm (U.S. size 6) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Go Spongebob!

Yes, ladies and gents, it’s that time again. Time when Spongebob Stashpants goes on camera to display the new additions to the WendyKnits stash.

First up, some representatives from Alchemy Yarns.

alchemy081204a Go Spongebob!

This is Resevoir, 85% wool and 15% mohair in the Montreat Path colorway.

While this may seem like sacrilege to some of you, I’m planning on using this to knit a felted bucket hat.

And this is Synchronicity, 50% silk and 50% merino wool, in the same colorway, for a matching scarf.

I also have in my hot little hands a WIP being knitted from the Japanese Lantern, which is a boucle composed of 40% mohair, 37% silk, and 23% linen.

This is a simple little drop stitch scarf which I’m knitting as a shop sample for Knit Happens. It’s quite yummy to knit!

And a big thank you to Katie, who thoughtfully brought me this lovely Scottish Campion shetland wool!

Moving right along . . .

db081204 Go Spongebob!

This is the new Debbie Bliss Baby Alpaca Silk (which is totally droolworthy!) in Coral. I have jumped on the bandwagon and am going to knit Lara from the Debblie Bliss Silk Alpaca book.

lara Go Spongebob!

As a matter of fact, I’ll be co-hosting the Lara-Along with Kristine. We plan to start October 1. Any other Lara-Alongers out there?? Huh??

Happy Friday the Thirteenth. Have a good weekend, all!

  1. Beautiful additions to the stash! I really like the color of that shop sample you are making. That Lara is so nice, I have seen some other knitters mention it… I will think about the Knit-Along… where is the pattern available for purchase?

  2. Wow, LOVe that Lara.. it looks easy enough for a fairly new knitter.. do you think? We raise alpacas and since I have a fresh batch of lovely alpaca yarn from this year’s shearing.. I think the Lara would be an awesome project.. more details about the knit along please.. and best place to buy the pattern! Thanks!

    Mia

  3. The pattern is widely available — it’s in Debbie Bliss’ new Alpaca Silk book, as I mentioned in my blog entry. I purchased my copy at Knit Happens — http://www.knithappens.net

  4. Sadly
Want to join in but no sign of the book or the yarn being available her in London yet! Soooo not fair!!

  5. I love this pattern, and I would love to join the knit-along! :) I’m fairly new to knitting, and your blog has definitely been an inspiration to me! I’m going to my LYS today to see if they have the book and yarn. Can’t wait! :)

  6. There, it’s twice now that your blog has roped me in! Not only have I already signed up for the Klaralund knitalong, but now I’ve gotten the Lara bug as well. I guess I’ll just have to go out at lunch and commit some credit card abuse!

  7. SpongeBob StashPants is one lucky guy. No wonder he’s so happy all the time!

  8. Peek-a-boo SB is my favorite, I think. Oh the Alchemy yarn is gorgeous!!

  9. For Jacinta, do you mean London England? I found this site on the web
    http://www.kangaroo.uk.com/bliss/bliss.asp

It looks like they have the book if you want to order it from them.

  10. Yum! Count me in on the Laura-along.

And I think the Alchemy will make a FAB felted bucket hat — can’t wait to see the pictures of it when it’s felted. After all, cool accessories are important, too. :-)

    Happy Friday.

  11. Lara looks beautiful. Hmm..

  12. I’m SOOOOOOO tempted. Beyond tempted. Must. Resist. Lara-along.

Maybe I’ll give in… I’m 90% swayed. Love the pattern and the look of the yarn.

  13. Ooh! I know that Synchronicity — I got to touch some while visiting ThreadBear. It’s luscious! I almost went home with some.

Apparently it’s also the same as the yarn that Lorna’s Laces uses for “Lion and Lamb”, in case you’re ever looking for a different set of colorways.

  14. What a great haul! I’m on a different computer (with sunlight on the monitor) so I cn’t see the pix that well. I’ll have to see if I can get a look at Lara in the “flesh” (paper). It’s just about getting to wool season!! (Today is such a taste of fall!) Have a great weekend!

  15. p.s. Your hair counter has gone haywire.

  16. Mmm, Alpaca Silk. They had some in the LYS which I spent probably a full few minutes petting. Alas, I’m on a stash reduction expedition, so no Alpaca Silk for me.

Of course, that leads to the question….what was I doing in the LYS in the first place?

  17. I have 2 skeins of the Alchemy Reservoir, too, and decided to use it in the felted French market bag from Winter 2003 Knitty (it was either that or a kitty bed, which would really be sacrilege!). It’s just a bit too scratchy for a scarf by itself.

  18. ooh, Lara is gorgeous. I must resist knitalong temptations until I’ve finished a few things. Like, cleaning my house.

That is going to be one gorgeous bucket hat. Yarn shopping (even vicariously through you) is so fun!!

  19. Lara is beautiful. I’ve been thinking about her since seeing her on Kristine’s blog earlier this week – I may have to join in.

  20. Sign me up for the Lara knitalong. This sweater would be gorgeous on my sister, and I haven’t knitter her a sweater for ages. Hopefully, this can be for Christmas giving.

Count me in too for the lara-along. my first DB pattern (adult that is) and my first knitalong! woohoo.. cant wait. and ill order from Knit Happens as a very envious nyorker who wishes one of our yarn stores was soo wonderful (sigh)

  22. I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one who is totally smitten with Alchemy yarns…wow!
That Montreat colorway is gonna be Fabulous felted!
    Must.resist.Lara.
    yeah, right.

  23. The Alchemy yarns is such a gorgeous color! Definitely perfect for fall. I love Lara! It’s a gorgeous cardigan! Lucky SpongeBob gets to play in your stash!

  24. well mr stashpants sure knows how to have a good time. well who wouldn’t with all that gorgeous yarn? i always feel like it’s a little wrong to felt such beautiful fiber but the bucket looks like it’ll be gorgeous. alpaca silk…mmmmmm (imagine homer face with drool)

  25. OH! I’ve never seen Laura before… what a fantastic pattern!

  26. oops! Lara. hehe.

  27. Ooh, I’m loving Lara! I might have to add that to my “Honey knit” list.

  28. Hmmmm… Lara, huh? Made of silk and alpaca, you say?

Well, here I was wondering what to make out of my big pile of alpaca fleece, which is languishing on top of the wardrobe and waiting to be spun.

Yummmmm. I also like the way it drapes about the body, very flattering. Can you tell I’m talking myself into it here? But, unfortunately, time won’t permit me to join the Lara-along. Well, ya can’t have it all! Will be looking forward to seeing yours finished, not to mention seeing your choice of button-clasp.
    :-) Monica

  29. Wendy, thanks for showing all your new yarns. It’s a good way to see what’s available, that my lys doesn’t carry, etc.

I guess I should thank Spongebob Stashpants too, since he is OBVIOUSLY doing all the hard work around wendyknits ;-)

  30. So THAT is why SpongeBob can’t pass his boating exam! He is too busy posing with yarn to care! Gorgeous yarn and I think you really got something with this picture thing with SB. I think it’s hilarous and then always having a pic of Dear Lucy at the end. LOVE IT ALL! Thanks for a great blog to read!

  31. Carol Perecman says:

Count me in for Lara. I started Klaralund before you announced your knitalong, which is a good thing, because I am not the world’s fastest knitter. I should be done in more than enough time for Lara. THe yarn is really beautiful! Looking forward to knitting with it.

  32. nicole/sweden says:

superb stash additions. per usual loving the sponge bob shots. wanted to let you know that i have received my very own sponge bob and had no idea it doubled as a freezer pack. my sponge bob squarepants was delivered the very same day my kid broke his arm so went into immediate double time use as a cold pack which seriously cheered up my kid (who by the way is fine now.) soo thanks to everyone who filled me in on sponge bob details.

  33. Should I. Shouldn’t I. Should I. Shouldn’t I. Go on, count me in, I feel I need to share the love a bit. And I’m already dreaming of clasps….Can’t wait to see everyones interpretations.
