My current work in progress:

1. "T-Rex," designed by Rebecca Danger, knit from Blue moon Fiber Arts Socks That Rock in the "Lucky" colorway on U.S. size 3 needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Valentine’s Day

And it was one of those Mondays . . .

But today is also Lucy’s official birthday. When I adopted her, all the information the rescue organization had was that she was born in February, 2001. Since the 14th is about halfway through the month, that’s when we celebrate.

So tonight, Lucy got presents from L-B’s kitty Lucky, and from L-B.

Lucky sent these tuna flake treats:

Lucy pronounces them delicious!

And L-B knitted her this adorable catnip-stuffed heart, from ArtYarns Supermerino, no less.

This picture is totally unposed and candid, I swear:

Here’s Something Lucy Won’t Be Playing With

That is the Brooks Farm mohair, in the “Amarillo” colorway. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I do like this colorway very much. Proof positive:

The Brooks Farm mohair is at the right of the picture — at the left is some Manos I’ve had in stash.

And if you scroll down to yesterday’s entry with the photo of the blueberry citrus yarn, you’ll see I’ve got a whole theme going on . . .

What I Gave Ian for Valentine’s Day

I’ve got a nice start on the front, I’m thinking.

What I’ve Been Spinning

This is targhee, purchased from Frene Creek Farm. It’s an interesting mix of a bunch of colors.

  1. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE HAIRCUT?
Of course your knitting is fabulous!

  2. Happy Birthday Lucy, you vixen you.

  3. Glad you’re having a good birthday, Lucy. Looks like you got good stuff. I think I need a birthday too.

  4. Meow! You gonna share those treats or what?

(That Woman Who Feeds Me would like to extend a happy birthday as well, and says to tell you that you have a pretty sweet Feeder, too.)

  5. Susan Maurer says:

Happy Birthday, Lucy! (oops, almost typed “Luck” as a typo, but maybe it wouldn’t be; she looks like one blessed kitty). So how old is she? OOps. Shame on me. … AND shame on you! If you hear a big ol’ SPPPLLLAAT soon, it will be me falling off the precipice that YOU pushed me off of by posting that GORGEOUS Amarillo mohair. I’m gonna jump! I don’t need the yarn, well, maybe I do… aaargh! So now you gotta tell – do you have any idea yet what it’s destined to become? Do tell! Lovely colorway.

  6. Happy Birthday, Lucy! May you catch every mouse that runs through your kitty cat dreams!

  7. Oh, I love targee! That bunch look sespecially beautiful.

How perfect for Lucy’s birthday to be on Valentine’s Day!

  8. Aaah, that Brooks Farm yarn is gorgeous. I’ve been eyeing it for a while now. I’ll be watching to see if you like knitting with it.

  9. Happy Birthday, Lucy!

  10. nicole/sweden says:

is that the absolute second to none cutest paw shot i’ve ever seen or what? Exactly my idea of how to celebrate a holiday i more or less usually hate due to crab-pot-joe tendencies.
    thanks happy lucy bday.

  11. Ohhhh your yarn looks gorgeous

  12. Diana & Orion says:

Have a great day. Enjoy the awesome weather. Knit outside. HEard its suppossed togo to 55 degrees downthere today.

  15. The yarn you are spinning is gorgeous! I gave my BF the same kind of chocolate that Ian gave you. I love Lucy’s new toy!

  16. Hi Wendy & Happy Belated to Lucy!

My girlcat Rhea is also a Valentine baby! We had cake and tuna here yesterday to celebrate. Wish I had thought of the heart toy, though…

BTW, what did you think of the Andean Silk yarns to work with?

  17. I’ve been staying away from Brooks Farm. You make it very hard to continue that course.

  18. Wendy —

Last weekend I was visiting Theresa (the Keyboard Biologist) and she had some Brooks Farm Mohair — YUM! I’m going to MS&W this year and I’m looking forward to seeing all their stuff up close.

So what’s all the blue yarn for?

    Julie

  19. Happy Birthday Lucy! Very cute pic of her playing with heart! And both your handspun and the mohair yarn are gorgeous!

  20. OH MY GOD WENDY! That is where my secret pal got my fluffy goodness from!

  21. I just find it odd that the colorway is named Amarillo… since that’s the Spanish word for yellow!

  22. Love Lucy’s heart! So cute. Also love the colors in that Targhee that you’re spinning. Very pretty!

  23. Tell Ian he looks terrific in his new scarf!!

  24. Happy Birthday Lucy, you beautiful girl!!!

  25. After reading today’s post, I went to do laundry. As I was pulling out dryer lint and the wet lint thing from the washer I noticed just how much it looked like the targhee from Frene Creek. Your singles look so pretty coming from something that previously looked like the multicolored-but-mostly-grey lint I was holding! Lint fibers are far too short to spin.
