My current work in progress:

Moth Cardigan, designed byAmy Christoffers, knit from Rowan SoftYak DK in the Plain colorway, using U.S. size 3 and 5 needles.

Hell and Nirvana

I spent the first part of today in dental hell.

Then, as a reward for surviving dental hell with nary a whimper, I headed over to Nirvana for Knitters.

But before achieving Nirvana, I accompanied Kristine to Bureaucratic Hell.

Just in case any of you thought that Kristine was in any way exaggerating what’s been going on (as she has documented on her blog) I am here to tell you that if anything, she’s toned it down for your reading pleasure.

And just to let you know what a good friend Kristine is, in the midsts of her bureaucratic hell (which I belief is Dante’s tenth level of hell), she was kind enough to order Pad Thai for lunch — something I could manage to gum down without chewing. Because chewing is An Issue.

Phyl-Phyl Participates in a Conference Call

phyl030905 Hell and Nirvana

“This could be ugly. I’d better clutch this orange yarn.”

phyl030905a Hell and Nirvana

“Okay. This isn’t too bad.”

phyl030905b Hell and Nirvana

“Aw crap! Dropped call!”

phyl030905c Hell and Nirvana

“Look at me! I’m multi-tasking!”

phyl030905d Hell and Nirvana

“Must . . . comfort . . . self . . . with . . . orange . . . yarn . . . ”

phyl030905e Hell and Nirvana

“I wonder if I can get gauge whilst conference-calling?”

What would we do without Phyl-Phyl?

Vince

True to my word, I seamed Vince last night. (That’s right Becky, it was a seaming par-tay!)

Please ignore the fact that I’m wearing Vince over my jammies.

Lucy doesn’t seem to care.

Comments

  1. All the knitters’ kitties need to uprise against Kristine’s bureaucrat bullies! Get started, Lucy!

  2. Wow, that is great orange yarn! I looooove the colour. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I’m beginning to think you don’t actually have a head ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Vince looks lovely! What a feminine sweater ๐Ÿ™‚

    PS… jammies… what jammies?… I don’t see any jammies.

  5. Vince looks…well…very pretty! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hope s/he isn’t offended by that…(?!)

  6. Do you think if I sicced Phyl Phyl on the Bureaucratic Hell with orange yarn they would finally fall??

  7. Orange yarn is my new drug of choice. See most recent post for proof. Maybe I can make that teeny kinsale out of laceweight…

  8. I think Vince looks great with your jammies. I’m sure he would also look nice with pink lounge pants.

  9. Anyone who endures a visit to the dentist for any reason needs to be immediately rewarded with stash enhancement!

  10. Wow, what a pretty sweater Vince is! Not as pretty as Lucy, though . . .

  11. I definitely agree on the yarn reward for dental hell. Heck, you’re going to buy the yarn anyway, this way at least you have an excuse. Love that sweater with the jammies.

  12. What a beautiful sweater….I love it sooo much!!!! Hope you will sell the pattern real soon!

  13. Oh no, dental hell! Yarn-buying is justified after such things, and hey, no chewing!
Vince is gorgeous. I think it’d probably take me as long to seam it as it did for you to knit it…possibly longer. Heh.

-jen, who feels the need to de-lurk after the mention of dental hell, and feels (well, has felt) your pain. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Woo hoo! Vince is just bee-you-ti-ful. So delicate and feminine; the perfect amount of lace. Clearly, there is something to having seaming par-tays. When you coming over so we can share a pitcher of margaritas and seam some knits?

May your stay in dental hell be a short-lived one. Take care!

P.S. Your hair is getting so long! Looks fab.

  15. I’m sorry for your dental woes. Hope your mouth recovers quickly!

Vince looks amazing. Simple and feminine.

  16. swoooning over Vince….we ALL need gorgeous sweaters to wear with out jammies, even if it does embarass our pets ๐Ÿ˜‰
Fie on dental agony and bullies of ALL kinds….
take THAT (we’ve got sharp pointy NEEDLES, dudes, and we’re PISSED. Leave that fabulous yarn shop owner ALONE.)
    Grrrrrrrr.

YAY, though, for Pad Thai and ORANGE yarn….

  17. I hope your gums and dental work feel much better today. If they are still a bit testy, I highly recommend getting all your RDA of nutrients by letting chunks of gourmet chocolate slowly dissolve in your mouth. =)

  18. Vince is FANTASTIC! Looks wonderful on you, even headless! I, too, hope to find an offering of the pattern at some point. I am all for lacey bits on sleeves and hem! It is SOOOO neat that you spun the yarn, too! When do you start your herd of Corriedale (or maybe Wensleydale, to be closer to your name) so you can shear, skirt, etc. AND spin the wool? Wonder what Lucy would say to that? Sheep can be a little noisy, based on my observations of a young friend at the agricultural school at U of MD, raising a lamb for a course a couple years ago.

  19. I say we have an orange yarn knit-out to get Kristine out of the Bureaucratic Hell!

  20. I think Vince looks lovely with pink. Lucy will think anything you wear is lovely so long as you keep feeding her. And you are a true friend to endure that den of evil with Kristine.

  21. I hate dentist almost as much as Bureaucratics. Hope Kristine can get things going her way. That picture of Lucy is so good…what a sweetheart!
When you look that good who cares if you care.

  22. Ruth in Houston says:

What pattern and yarn is Phyl-Phyl wearing ?

  23. Vince is quite lovely, even over PJs! ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Hi Ruth in Houston ~ I was wearing Fletcher in Noro Transitions. You can see all the detail on my blog.
    Happy Knitting ~
    Phyl

  25. I love the sweater you picked to knit from the Rowan Classic Cafe book. I think I will put it on my wish list of things to make it is so pretty.
    Love your blog, Tink
