My current work in progress:

1. Ashburn, designed by Melanie Berg, knit from Woolfolk Tynd in colorways 6, 7, and 8 on a 4 mm (U.S. size 6) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Just Another Manic Monday

The perfect antidote to a horrific day at work? Curling up at home with some lace.

I enjoyed readng all your comments about what you use for stitch markers in a pinch: rubber bands, yarn loops, paper clips, earrings.

By the way, the Knit Happens online store also carries rubber stitch markers – these are black, not red, but they work just as well. I bought some over the weekend to augment my red rubber ones, so I know this to be true!

I’m still plugging away at the border of Tina — I’ve got less than 20 rounds of border left, but they are very long rounds! And then a gazillion repeats of the edging.

A preview of coming attractions:

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go snuggle with Lucy.

  1. Wow, no comments yet. Snuggling with Lucy sounds just grand. And I’m enjoying watching Tina grow!

  2. I hope tomorrow is a better day, Wendy :)

  3. That lace looks incredible. So fine! I wish I was at home snuggling with my kitty now. But alas I have an hour and a half more of work to go. So I’ll look at Lucy and pretend!!

  4. The lace is beautiful. May the next few rows go quickly.

Give Lucy a smoosh from me!

  5. Wendy, could you be a dear and drift be the ElevenEleven gallery on PA Ave NW and give a review of the knitting exhibit that opened last week? I’m waiting for some new circs to show up to finish a sweater, then it’s on to the peacock feather shawl in blue alpaca.

  7. Wendy, Could you suggest an easy pattern for a first time lace knitter? I’m thinking og using Knitpicks Alpaca Cloud in Iris. Thanks, Elaine

  8. Wendy,
I also use the little black rubber rings as stitch markers, but I didn’t get them in a knitting store. Can you guess where?
How about the plumbing aisle at Home Depot! They’re called “O” rings and come in all kinds of sizes. So, anyone who doesn’t have easy access to a great LYS can find all kinds of knitting notions at Home Depot (or even Lowe’s or any other big home improvement center).
I hope tomorrow is better for you…

  9. Beautiful Lace, Beautiful Lucy!

  10. Tina is looking very lovely. I can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.

Heehee! This is the strange way my mind works. When you talked about the “red rubber markers” you use, my mind immediately began playing the song “Red Rubber Ball” in my head. The only downside is that I’ll have that running ’round as I try to go to sleep!

  11. I think this entry is the virtual Bat Signal for Margaritas! Need….margaritas…!! I hope the rest of your week improves. Glad Lucy is there to help comfort you. =)

  12. That WOULD be a perfect end. I’m glad Lucy and Tina is there for you.

  13. Annette says:

Rubber “stitch markers” may be found in the plumbing section of stores such as Home Depot or Lowe’s, or probably Ace Hardware etc. etc… much cheaper too.

  14. Lucy looks bored with the whole lace thing…

  15. ohhh i can SO relate to horrific days at the office – see my post today – thank goodness for furry creatures!

    hang in there!

  16. It is lucky there is at least one thing on earth to rely to when a day or a week is horrific, isn’t it ? The love given by a pet and the joy of knitting… The close-up of Tina’s border makes me want more and more to start this design later this summer. Thank you, Wendy ;-)

  17. Your lacework is beautiful. It’s funny how these phases just seem to hit every now and then. Hope you and Lucy have a relaxing rest of the week.

  18. I’m there with you, Wendy — I’m on the last few rounds of a lace shawl too and it’s taking FOREVER! Looking forward to seeing yours blocked!

Gorgeous Tina! You have to be the most accomplished knitter I have ever know. Congratulations. You will be finished Tina in a week.
