Year 2005 Wrap-Up

Yes! It’s the rare Saturday update at WendyKnits! I couldn’t let 2005 slip away without a look back.

On January 1, 2005, I was finishing up a pair of gloves knitted in Koigu. On December 31, 2005 I am working on the second sleeve of my Bohus sweater.

bohus123105 Year 2005 Wrap Up

This year I knitted two Alice Starmore designs, 8 lace shawls, several pairs of mittens, some scarves, some sweaters by various designers, and a bunch of my own designs. I spun a whole lotta fiber. I completed my first book and am looking forward to it being published in four months.

I went to the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival and the Knitters Review Retreat. I just came back from a fiber trip to Richmond and Powhatan, Virginia. I knitted and laughed and cried along with my friends. I was lucky enough to meet some of my internet knitting buddies in person. I reconnected with a friend from my youth.

All in all, a good knitting year!

Lucy, The King of All Remote Controls, and I will be ringing in the new year together tonight. We’ll have an elegant dinner (if I don’t screw it up), champagne, and catnip.

Best wishes to you all for a fabulous 2006! May all your WIPs grow into FOs.

  1. Oh,what a perfect way to end the year but to be first to wish you and Ian and Lucy the Happiest of New Years! It’s been quite a year for you and an even better one to look forward to! :-)

  2. Oh darn – I thought you meant that Lucy was the king of all remote controls…I would have asked if she could tell me where my TV one was, as it’s been missing for two weeks. But happy New Year to all of you anyway!!!

  3. Happy New Year! Here’s to many great knits in 2006.

  7. Happy New Year – and happy almost birthday, TOO

  8. Happy New Year! **toasting with a bit of really yummy tequila**

I think a very important item wasn’t listed on your 2005 wrap-up. You wrapped up something really good in 2005. . . . your book! It’s a grand accomplishment and an excellent read. I look forward to the launch. Congratulations!

Good luck to you, Lucy and the King of All Remote Controls in 2006. May it continue to be full of great fibers and friends.

  9. Happy New Year to you and your family! I love reading your blog. Thanks for being such an inspiration :)

  10. Happy New Year- you are really cruising through the Bohus! Can’t wait to see it finished.

  11. Hi Wendy from the metropolis of Powhatan,
(I hear we are getting a Home Depot-no need to travel into town then). I truely enjoyed visiting with you and
L-B and could not think of a better way to end the year. You are knitting goddess of the highest order and I wish only good things for you, Lucy and your King in the coming year!
    Kathy

  12. Happy New Year Wendy and a Happy Birthday to you tomorrow. I don’t think anyone gets as much knitting done as you do! I LOVE your sweater. I look at them every year at MD S&W and may have to indulge next year. Hope to meet you there and buy your book.

  13. Happy New Year to you and yours! Thanks for having such a great blog–it definitely makes my internet time more worthwhile :)

  14. Happy New Year Wendy! Thanks for all the reports and introducing me to Bohus – I bought Poems of Color and am in love with Wild Apples.

Tonight I’m having a party for my knitting group and their families. I’ll post pics – one of the only New Year’s parties where everyone will be knitting I bet.

  15. Happy New Year to you, King and Lucy! I have enjoyed reading your blog this year and look forward to your book.

  16. Happy New Year to you and Lucy and the King of All Remote Controls! Thank you for this blog, I’ve so enjoyed it. And Nikki thanks you for the catnip mouse pattern which made up into a glorious Christmas present ;-) Happy BD, too!

  17. A very happy New Year to you and your family Wendy! You have been such an inspiration – my stash has grown to reflect the beautiful FO’s that you have made. I look forward to having more time in 2006 to create more FO’s. Your bohus is divine! That’s my next item on my budget!

  18. Happy New Year. I just thought I would let everyone knitting a bohus know that I was a Macy’s yesterday and Ralph Lauren had a powder blue zip front bohus in their winter collection. It is obviously still considered a classic style. It was originally $169.00, now on sale for $25% off. I think it was made of merino wool. Not nearly as pretty as the handnknit ones IMHO.

  19. Happy New Year and Best Wishes to you, Ian and Lucy. Does Lucy get the catnip or the champagne? After all, she is quite the princess… :-)

I like how you noted you “completed [your] first book”. Hopefully this means more to follow in the “Never Ending Adventures With Yarn” (of a woman with two sticks and an attitude)!!

I’ve enjoyed reading along this year as I think I found your blog early in the year. Thanks for your inspiration, beautiful projects, and good laughs along the way. May 2006 bring more good fortune for you and yours.

    Peace

  39. Happy New Year! I’ve been lurking on your site for a few weeks now and just thought I’d take this oportunity to say hi, and Wow! You knit a lot! Thanks for the inspiration!

  40. Wow, what a terrific end-of-year inventory,Wendy! Mine doesn’t come close but I was still a fairly productive knitter in 2005,mostly because I decided to follow your example and focus on one,at most 2 projects at a time. So,thank you for making me a more prolific and satisfied knitter and for sharing so much inspiration and technique on your blog. All the best to you for 2006!

  41. What I wouldn’t give for just an ounce of your productivity. What an impressive year end round up.

    I am inspired.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

  42. Happy New Year!

  43. Happy New Year. You have inspired me to knit a Bohus sweater. I have been reading patterns in my stash in preparation. Some of them lower the height of the front neck with the judicous use of short-rows. Others are symmetric (front/back). Do you have any opinions on that?

  44. Happy New Year!

  45. I hope the cross-link reference is okay here…The King of All Remote Controls says you make a fine Shrimp Creole…care to share the recipe?

    Happy New Year, everyone!
