My current work in progress:

Moth Cardigan, designed byAmy Christoffers, knit from Rowan SoftYak DK in the Plain colorway, using U.S. size 3 and 5 needles.

Wow

Just . . .wow.

I am just gobsmacked by the total so far in our Heifer project. You all should pat yourselves on the back . . . several times. And then some more, please.

A couple of you have asked about contributing by check. The gift registry I set up supports online donations via credit card only, but if you would prefer to send a check to Heifer, you can do so. See this page for the address for donations. If you donate by check, do send me an email to the address shown in the sidebar, and let me know how much you donated so you can be entered in the drawing for the prizes.

Speaking of prizes, keep checking the prize page. I am continuing to update it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Elizabeth I

I have finished the back. Alert the media!

Now I need to knit the front — which is identical to the back. That will probably take longer because the novelty has worn off. Heh.

Sock!

I finished the first of my Austermann Step socks. Alert the media!

This yarn feels awesome. So soft! So cushy! It knits up beautifully in nice even stitches. So it is onward to the second sock I go!

  1. Ooh La La! the Elizabeth is such a beautiful, feminine design.

I’ve had my eye on this for awhile now – so simply sophisticated ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Your needles are on fire, girl! That sweater sure is pretty. Coincidentally, I just bought that same colorway of Step a few days ago. Love how it looks knitted up — thanks for being the test knitter! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Beautiful sweater and socks!!! I have some Step in the berry colorway, Patternworks didn’t have the one you have or I would have bought it instead. Thank you for reminding me of what I have in my stash, how easily I can forget at times.

  4. Love the colors in the sock and the sweater back looks fab!!!!

  5. You are just too much, Grrl!!! (And then there’s that Lucy, who is testing the cushyness and cat color coordinating!)Such donations! Such prizes! Such a Wendy!

  6. That Elizabeth is something beautiful let me tell you! I love the color and I will be checking back to see the rest. I just love it!!!

  7. anonymous says:

The media has only so much film!

  8. hey there – nice sock! I like the broad bands – and of course, Liz I goes without sayin’ popped by the Heifer project and left a little something –

  9. Seems Lucy approves of the elegant Elizabeth. Yes, you may knit the front. What a boost to Heifer!!!

  10. Claimed by Lucy, I love it!

  11. I love Elizabeth, so pretty. I think its great that Lucie feels the need to test out all your knitting for sleeping purposes.

  12. Ooops sorry Lucy, spelt your name wrong! My only excuse is its very early….

  13. Never ceases to amaze me how much knitting you can get done in just a few days. Your sweater back is gorgeous. But then, I didn’t have to tell you that. Lucy is giving it the seal of approval. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. Cat included for size, eh? I just have to smile every time I see that cat – especially when she’s claiming Wendy’s knitting.

I finished my kimono jacket the other day and am on a cardi for the hub now, but I may look into Elizabeth – what a gorgeous design. Thanks!

  15. It’s great that you’re doing the Heifer project. Just made my donation and sent my email to you. Are you still accepting prizes?

  16. I love the sock … I don’t normally like stripes in knitted objects (a personal thing) but the colors in that yarn are so pretty I like the stripes.

Beautiful sweater front … how in the world do you knit so fast? I am a slow, methodical knitter … I’m in awe.

Congratulations on the success of your Heifer donation project. It is awesome of you to sponsor it and awesome of your readers to contribute.

    Best,
    firefly

  17. Lucy has great taste!

  18. Mostly I love the Austermann Step – I’ve done two pair of socks with it and it just gets softer and softer the more you wash and wear… though doesn’t do well with dress shoes I’ve found – too slick! My one comment about it, is that it splits like a mofo – and once I split the ply, it’s often hard to get it back to where it should be. It is what it is – it’s the price you pay for soft socks!

Did you not go to Stitches?

  19. Elizabeth is gorgeous!!!

  20. I spotted your book at my local borders this weekend and it came home with me. I’m only about halfway through it and I love it!

  21. Elizabeth I looks so beautiful.

  22. Socks are fantastic. The colors look good with Lucy standing by. Laura is finished and Liam is on the needles. Elizabeth looks beautiful but the grands will have to wait their turn, it’s my turn.

  23. Lucy stitch markers on the prize page! Special applause to Wee Ones!

  24. I love that you use the term ‘gobsmacked.’

I always think of Hugh Laurie as the Prince Consort in Black Adder — way before House …

  25. Beautiful sweater! I am always so impressed at what a fast knitter you are!!!

  26. that sweater is looking really elegant, and i love the sock! i have a ball of austermann that i havent’ started in on yet, but soon, soo . . . .

  27. I am loving that Elizabeth I! It really looks fantastic.

  28. Your spinning tempts me to try spinning again. Must resist…must resist. I don’t knit nearly fast enough to pick up another hobby.

That Lucy-she’s adorable. No knitting project is complete until it gets kitty love.
