Thanks for all the fabulous suggestions for a name for my new sock pattern. You guys really outdid yourselves this time, I must say.

There were so many great ideas it was very difficult to narrow it down to just a few. I decided not to go with any color-specific names this time, although there were some very cute suggestions. I ended up with an arbitrary assortment of the ones that just struck my fancy. One of the ones suggested was one I had thought of as well, so of course that made the cut.

I have to give honorable mention to two names that totally cracked me up, but did not make the cut:

Sock-Eye Salmon and Death to Smooshy. Heh! You people are fiendishly clever. Seriously.

Anywho, without further ado, the poll:

I’ll be interested to see which is the popular favorite here. As dictator of this here blog, I reserve the right to override the popular choice and decree my favorite to be the winner. Because I am selfish that way. But maybe not.

So, the sock progresses. It will be a sock accompli shortly.

A couple of you asked what the lace pattern stitch is that I’m using for these socks, and I don’t have a good answer for that. It’s really just something I doodled up. I’m not saying that I invented it, but I did not pull it from a stitch dictionary. It no doubt exists somewhere else in the universe apart from my fevered brain — I just haven’t run across it. This is true of several of the stitch combinations I’ve put together for my socks.

I’m on my tenth pair of socks in the Summer of Socks. Of those ten pairs, one is a design by someone else (the Summer Solstice Socks) and nine are my own design. Of those nine, two are available as free downloads from The Loopy Ewe’s free patterns page. I will make the rest of the patterns available, but they will be for sale, not freebies. Because I am greedy capitalist pig.

The colorway is “Cool Fire.” I really love how this yarn is dyed — look at the subtle play of colors on the sole of the foot.

And once again I need a name for this sock pattern. Tell me in the comments — what would you name it?

I’ve nothing much to say today (can you tell?). It’s hot and I believe my brain is cooked. Therefore, I shall back away carefully from the blog. Sudden movements may cause my brain to dribble out my ears.
