The Answers

No, not the answers to the meaning of life or anything quite so weighty. The answers to the yarn quiz I posted over the past few weeks on this here blog.

The ongoing yarn quiz was created by the lovely and very talented Clara Parkes. Early last week I got the answer key in the mail. And here it is.

The Answer Card

You might want to go view the answer card at Flickr in a larger size.

I also have a copy of Clara’s new book, The Knitters Book of Yarn. It’s part reference book with all sorts of useful information about different fibers and different yarns. It’s also part pattern book, with 40 patterns for hats, socks, shawls, sweaters, etc. I haven’t had too much of a chance to go through this book yet, but on first glance-through, it looks like a keeper. Apart from the patterns (and a number of them do call out to me to knit), I can see this will be a book that I’ll pull off the shelf time after time to look something up.

  1. So glad you are feeling better and are back online. I had jaw surgery last week and just now feeling up to getting back into the knitting. You know you aren’t feeling well when you aren’t knitting. :)

I am sure Lucy is loving the time you are spending at home! Purrs.

  2. So happy to hear you are feeling good enogh to go out. I am one of those people you would not have wanted to talk back surgery with for sure. I was in a brace for oce 5 months the first time……we won’t go there! Lucy looks like she was doing a good job of keeping you entertained. I also bought Clara’s new book and just love it!!! Keep on the healing path!!

  3. Lucy? Just be happy she’s feeling perky enough to take pictures of her best girl :) I know we all are!

  4. Just adding my voice to all of the others wishing you well. It really is so good to see that you’re feeling well enough to knit & blog, & I hope that your recovery continues to go smoothly. Looks like Lucy & the KOARC are taking good care of you. Warm purry kitties on the lap are very soothing! Also, congratulations on being nominated for the Nice (Bloggers) Award by Cathy-Cate (per her blog today)!

  5. Hey Lucy, you’re so cute, so you’d better get used to that camera! Glad to see you up and about, Wendy. Get well quick.

  6. Glad to see that Lucy is taking good care of you. Cat hair is healing, you know :-)

  7. Barbara-Kay says:

Right, Lucy! No girl wants her ear hair documented in that much detail, eh?

  8. yo Wen – take care of yo’good self – aside from that, be in touch when you need to be in touch –

    xx

  9. Wendy, I am so happy to see you are back on your feet and with your needles.

    :-)

  10. I got a copy of Clara’s book on Thursday and it IS a keeper. Great info. Interesting patterns. A very good reference book written in a style that makes you want to read more. Hopefully you can read some while recouperating. just get Lucy to turn the pages!

  11. That’s a priceless look on Lucy’s face! It’s probably all these close-range pictures that are too blame (since I hope and assume you’re getting in lots of couch time and have a furry companion as you do so). She just wasn’t necessarily ready for her close-up!
The fibery answers were very interesting. I didn’t do too badly without being able to fondle, but the beasties definitely stumped me.

  12. American Bison. Who knew? Is there any other kind of Bison?

  13. Glad you are feeling well enough to get out of the house for some quality fresh air type knitting.

I hope things continue to heal quickly. Poor Lucy, she looks all worn out from her nursing.

  14. Is Lucy getting better looking? Is that possible?

Glad to hear you’re getting up and around some these days.

  15. Welcome back! It’s good to hear from you. All hte best and heal at your own pace. You know your body and can ‘hear’ it the best. WArm healing wishes still coming your way on a regular basis. Thank the KOARC for the guest blog, as well. Isn’t that the title of an old movie?

  16. Fantastic photo of Lucy. Glad you’re feeling better.

  17. I thought the answer was 32?

  18. Glad to see you have the answers for something! ;)
I just saw Clara’s book on amazon and am debating between it and one of Elizabeth Zimmermans.
I may have to take another look at it.

  19. Lucy is quite a special cat, photogenic, a good nurse and a good
teacher of “How to nap”. Is she ever tempted to unravel your yarn or
play with your knitting? I have two great kittys but one of them, aptly named “Scamp” will not leave my knitting alone.

  20. So glad that you are feeling better. Yes, Clara’s book is a diffinite keeper. Congratulations to LB as she was a sample knitter as mentioned in the book. Lucy is really sweet.

  21. I’m glad you are recovering quickly!

That is one seriously classy photo of a seriously classy kitty. I really like this one.
