My current work in progress:

1. Drachenfels, designed by Melanie Berg, knit from Madelintosh Pashmina in the Black Walnut, Seasalt, and Mineral colorways on a 4 mm (U.S. size 6) needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

What I Did Today

I went to my surgeon’s office for the first follow-up appointment. (They are very pleased with my post-surgical progress. I’m going back to work on Monday, for half-days for a while)

I got my hair trimmed.

Sock 102307

(I’m a big tease — that’s the sole of the sock.) It’s ShibuiKnits in color # 7495.

I got my mail — a couple of cool things.

A lovely, lovely shawl pin from Rebecca. I see she’s got similar ones for sale in her Etsy shop.

Thanks Rebecca, it’s gorgeous!

And some lovely lovely sock yarn from another Rebecca, from her Etsy shop. I ordered one of her “surprise me” packages and didn’t specify any preferences. I love a good surprise! And this was a lovely surprise!

Wow, you must have had wonderful nursing care to be healing so well and so quickly! That Bellamoden yarn looks yummy, I like blues. That’s not fair, being so much of a tease with the pic of the sock sole. LOL! A hair cut, a beautiful shawl pin, and a loving snuggle with your sweet Lucy………..sounds like you’re having a great day. Hope work goes well for you on Monday, just remember to take care of yourself. :-)

  2. PICAdrienne says:

Any any day you get snuggled by Miss Lucy has to be a good day!

Take care of yourself, and let yourself heal!

  3. I’m glad you’re feeling better Wendy! :) Can’t wait to see the new sock pattern, I’m sure it’s lovely as always!

  4. Monday? That seems awfully soon. But you’ll have the rest of this week and will probably be good and ready!
Your sock sole is coming along nicely, too :~)

  5. So glad to hear that your post-surgical progress is going well! Must be all that good nursing that you are getting from Lucy. Snuggles are definitely healing!

That yarn that you got is lovely. I’m not usually a fan of blue but that particular shade is very nice indeed.

  6. Raye in NY (mother of the other jan 2nd Wendy) says:

See…I told you the surgury was easier than the $&%$ you went through before, right?
    Glad you’re doing well,
    Hugs,
    Raye

  7. so glad to hear that you are healing so well.

  8. Wow! You got your box already. I’m so glad it has a good home now, it really is my favorite. I probably should eventually keep one for me!

  9. So happy to hear the good news. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

  10. Don’t be in such a hurry to go back to work! Milk this surgery for all it’s worth!! Your hair looks gorgeous, and Miss Nurse Lucy looks adorable. Best wishes!

  11. A day at a time! I’m sure right now the effort of going to the doctor’s office and the hair salon is exhausting. More kitty snuggling is definitely in order. Hope the pain is better….

  12. Please take good care and don’t push yourself! There’s plenty of time for work. Remember the old adage, “No one ever went to their deathbed saying, ‘I wish I had spent more time at the office.’” :=)

But I’m glad to hear you’re healing so nicely, all the same.

  13. anne marie in philly says:

sounds like you had a full day!

congrats on the good news doctor visit. and on the haircut – I know you have been wanting to do that for a while.

confidentially, mine needs a good cut too.

scritches to miss lucy’s tummy from her cousins!

  14. Glad you’re on the mend! I love the trim, it’s very Charlie’s Angels. I demand a finger-gun picture!

  15. Glad to read you are on the mend so quickly, and big grins on the haircut. I broke my ankle in the beginning of the year, and I couldn’t put any weight on it for 2 months…I couldn’t wait to get out of the house and get to the salon for a hair cut. (and a very badly needed eyebrow waxing!)

  16. Glad to hear of your speedy recovery! Great news! That Bellamoden yarn is amazing! I love the idea of a surprise, too.

  17. so glad to hear your recovery is going smoothly — take good care of yourself! ps. you look adorable in that pic!

  18. Major BACK surgery and you’re going to work only a week later!!! I would still be weeping.

  19. Lucy just looks so snuggly and adorable there (but then, she always does).

So glad you’re recovery is progressing so well. :-)

  20. Theresa in Italy says:

What a full (and mostly fun) day! Glad to see that you are healing so quickly. But then, looking at Lucy snuggling up with you, I can see why.

  21. Good news! I hope you Wow them by setting the Healing Speed Record.
Work? Ummm, can telecommuting be implemented? I’m Cluking here. Train (jostle, bumping, jerking) walking, sitting…then more train, walking to get home. That sounds scary…cluck, cluck, cluck
And that is one precious pic of Lucy!

  22. I’ve got a surprise box coming from Rebecca as well!

So glad you’re recovering so quickly, wow, back to work already!

  23. Awwww, I LOVE that snuggle photo. Such a cutie!

  24. What a wonderful day! Your hair looks great. Surprise boxes sound like fun, I’m off to check it out. The snuggle photo is great. I snuggled my little guy this morning, but then he got tired and told me in no uncertain terms it was time to play!

  25. Cute hair-cut Wendy! Glad you are feeling better and healing so quickly, too.

  26. Hi Wendy (and Lucy)!
Glad to see you’re on the mend! Love the new haircut! (Are you still going shampoo-less?) Can’t wait to see the new sock! ;)

  27. I’ll tell you what I like most in this entire post?
    YOUR SMILE!
    It speaks volumes.
    ((((hugs))))

  28. Work next week? Ouch!

Have you seen the zero gravity recliners? They take all the pressure off your back.

    http://www.relaxtheback.com/zero-gravity-recliners-subcategory-6389767

They’re pricey, so I ordered a Lafuma zero gravity outdoor recliner (but I keep it in my house) at Amazon for $120. They are extremely comfortable and I ordered the model that has the Thermarest built into it.

  29. glad to see you looking (feeling) better! get well wishes to you and take care!

  30. Evening Wendy! You are looking so well :) Are you feeling on form now?

    Nice sock too! ;)
    Hugs,
    Judy and Alys (mad puppy)

PS I know that you are an animal lover, would you help us raise awareness of the use of a starving dog as ART ? My blog just doesn’t have the following to get the Knitters against animal cruelty out there…

  31. Very full day indeed. I can’t imagine how you are keeping up that crazy pace!

  32. Love the color of that Shibuiknits!

  33. Glad u are feeling better..it is only up from here. Enjoy your goodies. I love your blog & all your knitting..a real inspiration to me

  34. Oh, that’s a lovely colorway! Hmm, back to work already on Monday?! Wow. I don’t even go back for my work release check up until Nov 9, after which I’ll probably be half days or partially from home or something.

  35. Glad you are doing so well! You look fabulous–it’s hard to believe you went through surgery so recently. Don’t push yourself with going back to work too soon. Take it easy, and let your body heal itself!
