My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Half Done

My Pacific Islands Shawl is half done.

Pacific 121607

Pacific 121607

It’s on a spare needle,, waiting for me to knit the second half. Then the two halves are supposed to be grafted together in the middle. Though I might cheat and attach them using a three-needle bind-off. ;-)

This has been great fun to knit, and I’m very much looking forward to having the finished shawl!

We real lucked out with the weather this weekend. The storm that was dumping ice and snow over the Northeast was simply rain for us. And the rain stopped this morning, and our only worry now is high winds which are supposed to start up soon.

And the highlight of my weekend? This:

LG Voyager 121607

LG Voyager 121607

My new phone — an LG Voyager. It has an external touch screen, and inside a full keyboard.

LG Voyager Open 121607

LG Voyager Open 121607

Makes text messaging a lot easier! The service includes mobile internet, email access, and GPS software.

I love new toys!

When she is not posing for photos, Lucy prefers to nap.

That shawl is just beautiful! It looks like it would be fun to knit. Iwant one!

    Lucy is more beautiful.

That’s one spiffy-looking gizmo! I shudder to think how much something like that might have cost, though!

I’m loving the progress on Pacific Islands. You know me; I’m a big fan of the lacy goodness!

The phone is cool! As soon as I can get 5.50 am gonna order the pattern from Fiber Dreams, It is so pretty! I will be getting some Zephyr to knit it up with. Dont know what color yet tho.

Each time you’re working on something new, I think it’s my favorite thus far — this is no exception. You have such a way with choosing the perfect yarn for projects!

What a kewl phone too — I have yet to move in to the cell phone world (yes, I know — I am WAY behind the times!) and had NO idea they had such neat things available — this make me want one…..BAD!

Off to research the difference between grafting and a three needle BO……

I love it when kitties wrap their tails around their sleepy little faces. :)

    Pacific Islands looks gorgeous!

The shawl is beautiful. I love the pattern and the color. How would you rate the pattern, i.e. easy, difficult? The grafting doesn’t sound like fun to me. Grafting a few stitches on a sock toe is nothing, but I’d worry I wouldn’t pay enough attention if there were too many stitches to graft.

Your phone looks neat. I’m curious as to what service you use? I have AT&T Wireless (formally Cingular, & formally AT & T Wireless … crazy mergers). One of these days, I’m going to get a phone that I can check e-mail & text from, but right now I don’t really need it. I actually worry I’d check e-mail too much if I could easily access it while out.

Yay for new phones! You should get a twitter account–it’s mildly addictive. :-)

Ooooh shiney new toy! That’s a Verizon phone isn’t it? Maybe hopefully?

Your shawl is gorgeous! I love all of it–the knitting, the yarn, and the pattern! I am assuming that you have already blocked the first half, from the looks of it?

Lucy looks cute, like she’s playing coy, hide and seek. :-)

Oh, wow. What a great phone. I have had a Pearl for one whole week and I think I finally figured out how to make a phone call. My head is exploding from the potential on this thing. Now if I can just stop myself from obsessively checking my email….

I’m a sucker for new gadgets, and that’s a really cool one you have there.

gorgeous shawl. I’m all for three needle bind offs :-)
Lucy looks like I want to be right about now, snuggled in for the night.

Cute phone! (Not cuter than Lucy, though.) Also quite the beautiful shawl. I’ve got several shawl patterns that call for grafting (shudder) and I think the only way they’ll ever get done is with a three-needle bind off.

Heh, you should see the dumping of snow we got! Over a foot.

Cool gizmo! Remember when cellphones were the size of bricks?!

    :)

I love the shawl, but what happened to the pinwheel sweater? Did you finish it and not tell us? If so, how do you like it?
Sorry, I don’t mean to badger, I was just wondering :-)
(By the way, I really love the tray from the last post. So cute!)

Let’s see, possible names for the new phone…Larry (because it’s an LG). Veronica (playing off the V in Voyager). Or Uhura because she was the communications officer on Star Trek (ok, the original one, but I don’t think it’s a far leap from the Voyager series to the original series).
I can’t be the only reader who starts thinking of names when you share a new gadget.

This is a technical, non-knitting question: How do you get your polls to show up in your blog? I’ve been trying to find a poll service that works with Wordpress and can’t seem to find any that do not link back to the polling service?

Oh yeahhhh baby.. you’re gonna love having GPS as handy as your phone. New toys are awesome .. I just got a blackberry curve with GPS and i LOVE it, LOVE it, LOVE it!

I’m behind on my blog reading (and wondering if I’ll catch up before next year) so I missed that you were the one knitting Laura’s stole. That’s great.

I’m half Swedish on both sides of my family, but I haven’t made Pepparkakor for quite a few years. I should dig out my family recipe, though they take a bit of time. They go so well with a cup of tea or coffee anytime in the winter.

Aren’t these gizmos amazing? BTW, how bit is the Voyager?

I recently made a two-part shawl and did the three needle bind-off. I’m not a big fan of grafting, so I just loved doing this.

  21. Kara

Wow. The shawl is beautiful and I am geeking over your phone. :D

  22. courtney!!

hi wendy! luv how the shawl looks! hey, have u ever lost an expensive, brand new bamboo needle on the bus? because i just did today. i was knitting on my way to school and it flew out. i am left with one needle, a ball of yarn, and small portion of a gray alpaca yarn ribby scarf. :-( …. poor me.
