Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day and thanks for all your good wishes! Thank you as well to all of you who have donated to Heifer.org through my registry.

Lucy, the KOARC, and I had a lovely holiday. Lucy was very excited to received some baby chicks from Shelda:

The photography is not the best, but it’s a grey day — it’s been pounding down with rain all afternoon.

Could be worse, could be snowing!!

Comments

  1. The Pinwheel looks super. Could the KOARC take a picture of you modeling it? I bet the color is stunning on you — with your poo-free auburn hair!

  2. Judy Bushey says:

The Pinwheel is beautiful. I agree with Karen I’d like to see you modeling it. Merry Christmas

  3. The Pinwheel look Gorgeous and will look super on you! I can sympathize with Lucy at bein worn out, my kitties decided to wear mama out playing with their new toys which consisted in findin mama’s loose balls of yarn and chasing them all over the room.! Oh and their Daddy didnt help matters either…i’ll leave that one to the imagination, :-)

  4. Your pinwheel sweater is beautiful. I know
it will look just as good on you as on your
model. I’m glad Lucy enjoyed her day too.
It must give you lots of satisfaction to complete something so awesome.

  5. Oh that is sooooo cute. Both the sweater and Lucy. By the way, thank you for your donation for Sugar Ray – I posted before and current pictures of how he looks now. Its very encouraging.

  6. Wow, that sweater is just gorgeous! I love the color! I love the style!! Great knitting job! How many skeins did you use?

  7. It’s beautiful!!

  8. The pinwheel sweater is nothing short of fabbo! I too would love to see you modeling it, not that Gwendolyn doesn’t do a super job………..

    Love it!

  9. The baby chicks are ah-dorable. And so is Lucy. And so is your sweater.

I agree; let’s have a shot of you wearing it…?

  10. Truffles received a fish like Lucy’s but she had the cord chewed off in seconds!!!! Now she has to play manually with the fish! She does not seem to mind though. I absolutely love the sweater and want to make one more than ever. I really like that colour also. Hope you all have a super New Years!!

  11. I’d rather have rain than snow, and rather have snow than the cold. At least when it’s raining or snowing, it’s not going to be so cold that I freeze my tootsies off just getting out of bed in the morning!

It’s good to hear that you and yours seemed to have had a good holiday! And that sweater really does look nice!

  12. yOU ARE AN INCREDIBLE KNIITER; i wait with bated breath for each of your posts.
    Happy New Year.

  13. Snowing would be BETTER! (IMHO) But we need the rain, so I’ll take it. Love the pinwheel, and I’m so glad you didn’t rip it out. :-)

  14. LOVELY pinwheel!

  15. your pinwheel sweater is gorgeous! i love the front view especially – it looks so feminine, but not too much….oh i wish i had lucy’s life…..

  16. That sweater has turned out GORGEOUS!! Absolutely amazing…and of course, as always-Lucy is beautiful as well! :)

  17. HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS WOOL — That sweater is GORGEOUS! Wish YOU were modeling it though!! You’re so much prettier than Gwendolyn.

Do you like it better now that it’s finished, or does it stay on better I guess is a better question!?

And Lucy just gets cuter every day!! Those chicks are pretty darn cute too ;)

  18. I love the pinwheel. It’s absolutely stunning. I don’t think you should bring it to the Loopy Retreat, it may come home with me – hehe (no worries, I would never do something like that!)

  19. The pinwheel sweater looks great–and your edging makes it look so feminine. Will you post a modeling shot soon?

  20. OMG! That is probably the best pinwheel sweater I have seen!! I LOVE that is it in ONE color!! That makes me want to knit it up now!
What yarn did you use?? Malabrigo??

  21. The sweater looks beautiful. I’m glad that it worked out and you decided not to frog it. :-) My cat is tired out today as well. Hah!

  22. Pinwheel is G-g-g-g-g-g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! I can hardly wait to see it on you. Love Lucy’s felted chick toys.

  23. Very pretty pinwheel sweater. Your work, as always, is impeccable. Are you going to wear this for New Year’s Eve? With black pants it would be stunning on you. (even if you do stay home..)
    Enjoy!

  24. The sweater came out beautifully! Glad you had a good holiday and hope that 2008 holds nothing but good for you too! :)

  25. Pinwheel is gorgeous, congratulations

  26. Love, love, love… As The Beatles say’s it… Just love IT… Need IT… Want IT ;)
Hugs from Sweden… and it’s raining cats and dogs!!!

  27. Hi. I hope this is not taken the wrong way because it is SOOOO not meant to be heard that way. Now with that being said, I need to come clean. Personally, I hope you rip the pinwheel. Let me explain, I think the stitch work is STUNNING and you CLEARLY did a FAB job on that. No doubt, you are a VERY accomplished knitter and know your business:) I just don’t find the sweater flattering at all. It just doesn’t lay nicley as a sweater and is just unruly. It has to much “fabric” after it is done and appears to be a heavy looking garment. So much so that it is really hard to concentrate on the lovely detail. The size and confusion of it takes away from all of the true beauty it is intended to be. In the end of course, it is your decision and a lovely one it will be I am sure:) I hope it was ok that I posted this. I just think your such a great knitter and your so pretty, this one just doesn’t flatter you but DANG girl, you can knit and knit FAST!

  28. The Pinwheel looks great! That lace edging was just the right thing to do.

  29. Glad all three of you had such a good Christmas.

  30. I love the pinwheel sweater. Do you have a large fabulous button, or will you
be using a shawl pin? I started buying shawl pins for my shawls, then gave some shawls away, and now have a collection of shawl pins which I really enjoy. (I also have a collection of buttons which I hoard and have trouble
actually deciding to use on a garment!!)
Happy New Year–thanks for providing me with interesting and informative blog reading.

  31. I love the pinwheel! It turned out so well — I can’t wait to see you wearing it :) I didn’t realize you still had a registry this year, alas. We went online last night and my girls chose to give a basket of rabbits and a flock of geese (they particularly liked the guard-goose aspect of that one). I’m so sorry it didn’t end up on your registry!

  32. Beautiful, Wendy!

I can see that you resolved the shoulder issue beautifully with the depth of the edging. I’m about halfway down the second sleeve of mine, and I had already decided to do a very deep edging (a knit/purl pleat I have rattling around in my memory).

Since this is my mindless travel knitting, and since I’m trying trying to use up a surfeit of Fiesta Alpaca, progress is slow. Let me know if you’d like a picture when I eventually come either to the end of my rope of of my yarn. I would not want to send you an attachment without your permission.

Splendid job. This is one you are certain to enjoy wearing often!

  33. I’ve seen quite a few pinwheel sweaters around, and I just love the clever construction. Your edging is quite beautiful, Wendy. Yes, we need one of you wearing it!

    Happy New Year!

  34. The pinwheel sweater looks fabulous! I hope it looks as good on. Is it still falling off your shoulders?

  35. Your Pinwheel Sweater is fabulous! Hope you’re enjoying the season!

  36. Oh, wow! Pinwheel looks gorgeous!

  37. NewJerseyLaura says:

Love the sweater – especially the beautiful front view. You may not want to wear it now, but it looks like just the thing for the first days of spring. The lace is the perfect touch.

  38. The pinwheel, it’s gorgeous. And so is Lucy.
