My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Under the Wire

I got one more project completed for 2007.

Behold the Angel Lace Shawl, unblocked.

And blocked:

As usual, my little helper appears as soon as I put lace down on the carpet.

A close-up of the pattern:

The Angel Lace Shawl (by Evelyn Clark, pattern leaflet published by Fiber Trends) took 2 50-gram skeins of Handmaiden 2-ply cashmere, with 10 grams left over. I did 2 extra  repeats of the main pattern. Blocked, it measures 72 inches across the top, and 36 inches down the center back to the point. A quick knit and a fun one, I recommend this pattern!

Happy New Year! Thank you so much for reading my blog and for your friendship in 2007. See you in 2008!

Wow, that’s so beautiful! Good job!

Hey you may have been asked this before but what kind of scale do you use? I’m in the market. :)

    Happy new year!

Wendy, I’ve been reading your blog for several years. However, when I started I wanted to start from the beginning. Yesterday I FINALLY read the blog entry you’d posted that day!! You’ve inspired me, entertained me, and touched me! I look forward to reading (and commenting) in 2008 and beyond. Thanks for sharing a bit of yourself with us everyday!

    Happy New Year!!

The miracle that is blocking amazes me every time. Beautiful shawl!

Thank you for blogging; I enjoy reading very much. Happy new year to you!

  4. Denise in Kent, WA

Happy New Year, Wendy! Although an infrequent commenter, I am a regular reader and thoroughly enjoy your knitting adventures. And Miss Lucy, of course. :)

  5. Carrie

I love your Angel Shawl–I’ve had it on my to-knit list for months, but haven’t settled on the yarn yet. I never thought about a lightly variagated colorway, I’ll have to keep considering yarns I think.

  6. Ria

Good timing! And good lace, too! I think I’ll forever love that colourway.

Happy new year! May it be the best yet, filled with friends, family, and fibre. Y’know, all the happy-making stuff. :D

  7. Jennifer

It’s beautiful! And such a lovely finale for the year.

  8. debbie

beautiful shawl – and it complements lucy’s eyes!

  9. kmkat

I’m not sure if you have told us who is the intended recipient of the shawl. Based on the photos, I’d say Lucy is thinking that it should be her. Although whether any cat, even one so cute and snuggly and utterly adorable as Lucy, is worth cashmere is open to question :)

    Have a great 2008!

  10. ellen

Wendy – thanks for all your insight and inspiration in 2007. Even when you were dealing with health challenges you were always an inspiration. Happy 2008 to you and Lucy and KOARC.

  11. Laura

The angel shawl is just charming. Unbelievable how your summer of socks merged into the solstice of lace! I wish I had a helper like Lucy — so much more cuddly than blocking wires…Happy new year!

  12. Bridget

That is an especially pretty shawl/yarn combo. (I’m so glad that Lucy approves …)

Happy New Year to all of you, and best wishes for a happy 2008.

  13. Bridget

Gorgeous! I bought the pattern because I like it so much. Happy New Year!

  18. Janet Lewis

I’ve been reading your blog long enough to have a very clear memory of the first “Lucy pictures.” While she was lovely it was also clear she’d had a very rough time. I’ve thought several times over the past years how much she has changed. She looks confident and happy. Three cheers.

    Happy New Year.

p.s. The shawl is lovely. Your work is always lovely.

  19. Sherry

Beautiful work as usual. Of course, Lucy especially likes this shawl … she know she looks good with blue.

Wishing you, KORC & Lucy a Happy, Healthy New Year!!!
