Honk if You Love ShibuiKnits Sock Yarn

I started a new sock yesterday, in ShibuiKnits sock yarn in the “Peony” colorway (color #220).

swan060208 240x160 Honk if You Love ShibuiKnits Sock Yarn

I just purchased this yarn from The Loopy Ewe last week and got it in the mail on Friday. I really love ShibuiKnits almost-solid colorways, and I love the tight twist of the yarn.

This colorway reminds me of raspberry sorbet.

(And I now have a serious craving for raspberry sorbet . . . )

The lace pattern on this sock is one I got from a stitch dictionary. It’s called “Wing of the Swan” or something like that, and it’s in at least two stitch dictionaries I own. Because it is not terribly original, I’ll offer this pattern as a freebie when I finish it.

Today The Loopy Ewe updated with some new colors of ShibuiKnits sock yarn. Not trying to be an enabler or anything . . .

Let’s Try Haiku Voting Again, Shall We?

The voting for the haiku contest is now here. My apologies to those of you who already voted — you’ll need to vote again because this is a different poll plugin. All the haikus are displayed on the page linked to, along with the poll for voting for your favorite. It’s been tested in Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari and appears to work in all those browsers. Fingers crossed that it continues to do so.

So clicky-clicky on the link to vote, please.

The haiku with the most votes as of 4:00pm Eastern time on Tuesday June 3, 2008 will be declared the winner.

I know which haiku is my favorite . . .

  1. Thanks a lot Wendy. I love Peony colors too. So I went to Loopy Ewe and what do you suppose – it’s in stock. Also in a Periwinkle colorway, another favorite. I would say your work here is done, as far as I’m concerned. 🙂

  2. If I squint I can sorta see stripes in the Peony. It’s gorgeous! Hmmmm, I think I have some Shibui in my stash. Won’t buy more until I check (assuming I can find it all). The sock is lovely and thanks for the eventual freebie post. OK, now off to vote.

  3. Wendy, you are the best! Another freebie pattern – yeah! I just ordered two of your patterns from The Loopy Ewe (along with some yummy yarn) this morning.

Can Lucy vote for me ’cause I’m having a real hard time deciding which haiku is my favorite. Thanks!

  4. Patricia says:

I like the Peony color almost as much as Aegean! The sock in progress is lovely.

  6. I just got some of that yarn from the Loopy Ewe. I have never knit with it, but I have gifted it on several occasions. I’ll have to take it with me on my travels up to PA later this week. The pattern is gorgeous! Thanks for making it available to us.

    Lucy U R sooooooooooooooooo beautiful! luv.m.

  8. Hi Wendy, a hard job to vote, they were all so good. Love the sock and want to thank you in advance for the freebe. You really are very generous with your patterns and knowledge. Did my thing at TLE this morning, and chose two of your patterns. A great way to start the week. Love the pillow at Lucy’s back. So true.

  9. Honk honk-honk-honk!

  10. ChristyH says:

Freebie!!! Hurray!!! I love that lace pattern and I am not fond of lace. I was thinking before I even read down that that was a pattern I wanted to own and then to find out you are going to offer it for free, well you made me smile. Peony’s are my favorite flower.

  11. Now I want raspberry sorbet too. Or better yet a plate of raspberries covered in icecream. And to learn to knit socks. Lots of love to Lucy from her Australian admirers Tori and Pascal.

  12. Barbara-Kay says:

Yes, ma’am. Voting achieved once again. Still very grateful for all the haiku authors’ efforts.

  13. Purdy sock! And here I thought the voting thing was just me.

  14. I’ll share my raspberry sorbet with you, Wendy — Come on over 🙂 (maybe this time I’ll convince you?) ::gg::

The newest pattern is as yummy as the sorbet I am eating right now — if you hurry, there will still be some left when you arrive….

  16. I think that you have just become my #1 enabler. Every sock you knit is just pretier than the last and wants to jump on my needles. I’ve been knitting socks pretty much non-stop since April (of course not as fast) and I think you’ve turned me into a sock monster. That said, it’s not so bad now, is it?

  18. Never really looked at ShibuiKnits yarns but, judging from your post, I need to start looking there. I have some patterns that need almost solid yarns. Right now I’m trying to knit from stash. Of course, that’s not going as well as it could.

  20. Shibui has rapidly become one of my new faves too..their new Kiwi and Periwinkle are lovely and the Lily colorway is SO YUMMY!!!

  21. That is gorgeous color in your new sock yarn. I think I can get on board with knitting Wings of the Swan in the form of socks. My last two attempts to use the beautiful stitch pattern in knitting resulted in possibly permanently abandoned UFOs.

  25. Yay!!!! I’m so happy I’m not the only one obsessed with Shibui yarn! I love the saturation of the colors and the yarn is a dream to work with.. It can also withstand a decent amount of frogging (not that I do that very often, ahem) I’m going to go and start a fan club now.
