Happy Hump Day

The week is more than half over. Come, rejoice with me.

We have not named Lucy’s new little sidekick yet. I don’t think Lucy has much interest in giving it a name. You should have seen how long it took me to get the photo of her nose-to-nose with the toy kitty yesterday. I kept picking Lucy up and plopping her down on the couch and attempting to put the toy next to her, but she wouldn’t stay still. She was in one of those moods here every time I’d point the camera at her she’d walk towards me. It was just dumb luck that I managed the somewhat blurry shot that I got.

I am coming down the home stretch on my second “Ida’s Delusions of Grandeur” sock and ought to be able to finish to finish it at some point tonight or tomorrow.

I’m going to use some of the Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Select for my next sock project. My last few pairs of socks have been in bright and/or summery colors, so I decided the next pair will be in the Java colorway.

Because this is a rather dark colorway, the pattern will be a relatively simple all-over lace design.

Speaking of colorway, I’ve used the Cherry Tree Hill Java colorway before, in their Suri Alpaca for my Inky Dinky Spider Stole. Quite a different look, huh?

Remember the cute feather toy Lucy got a couple of weeks ago? This is what it looks like now:

And here is Lucy, pretending she has no idea how it got in that state.

  1. I’m sure it was a good kill though. Rock on, Lucy.

feathers self destruct. You KNEW that, didn’t you?

    ;)

  3. And a CLEAN kill too! ;-)

Hmmmmmmmm… names for the “new kitty”… maybe Lola?? Lucy and Lola, Lola and Lucy…… mebbe not! :-) luv.m.

  4. Lucy would do well as a Wall Street baron… assuming she isn’t one already.

The knitblurking world eagerly awaits your next design.

  6. At least you can get a picture of your cat at all. Whenever I have my camera out my Penelope turns her head. Unfortunately for me, she’s a Persian and when she does that, her face disappears! I never get good pictures of her.

  7. (in a whisper) Is there any chance that you could send me a copy of your adorable Nanners sock? (shhhhhhhhhhh) I’m on Plurk but I signed up too late (still whispering) and I really love the pattern and i have some great yellow sock yarn I’d love to use! Thank you either way!

  8. I really like the Java colorway. It’s quite subtle in the lace, I’m surprised. But I’m also surprised at how much more vivid it looks in the ‘select’ than usual. More saturated.

    “Linus” for Lucy’s ‘un-pal’?

Spontaneous feather deconstruction does indeed happen. Oh, yes. Ask my cat.

REJOICE! REJOICE! REJOICE!!! I’m ready for a weekend!!!! This has been a go-somewhere-every-night week and, even though the places I’ve been were fun places, at-home-peace-and-quiet sound like a good thing right now. I’m going to go knit and spin now.

  10. I’m looking forward too seeing what you do for the darker, simple lace design – i love watching your creative process :)

  11. OK – I am showing my age, but may I suggest “Ethel” as Lucy’s sidekick name?

The feathers present a disturbing picture, but perhaps their current state represents Lucy’s attempt at preventing them from throttling you in your sleep?

  12. That’s the exact yarn and colorway I am using for my next pair! Only mine are going to be plain Janes, I think. Not sure yet…

  13. It’s obvious Lucy did not want to share the limelight with the interloper.

And you should see the state of our last mylar-streamers-on-a-stick cat toy at our house.

  14. I second the “Ethel” name from Pat I think it would be perfect!
I find “selfdestructed” toy mousie parts so I understand the innocent “I didnt do that” look very well HEHE :-) Congrats Lucy on a clean Kill!

  15. I can just see Lucy coming to the camera…our first daughter’s 1st – 3rd years are documented by photos of her running at the camera. The next phase is running FROM the camera, by the way.

  18. I read this on Thursday! so Over the Hump day is over, and we’re sliding towards the Weekend! Yippee!! cause Lambtown is this weekend and I CAN’T WAIT!!! There is some shetland roving out there somewhere at the Dixon fairgrounds with MY name on it. (that and a cold beer)

  19. I am shocked, I thought Lucy was better at hiding the evidence. Hmm maybe the stuffed cat did it
