My current work in progress:

1. Cloisters Socks (my own design), knit from Alchemy Juniper in the "Tea Party" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Mmmmmm . . . Hot Java!

Last night I finished the second of the Ida’s Delusions of Grandeur socks.

To recap, these are knit from Dream in Color Smooshy sock yarn in the Pansy Golightly colorway, on 2mm needles. The pattern will be available for sale at The Loopy Ewe, probably in a couple of weeks.

I will be sending Sheri three new patterns soon — this one, the Einkorn socks, and the Ribbon Candy sportweight socks. I’ve been remiss lately in finalizing sock patterns so I’ll make an effort to get these three to her by the end of the month.

A completed sock project means only one thing chez WendyKnits: a new sock project!

As promised, I started knitting with one of my new skeins of Cherry Tree Hill Select Supersock, in the Java colorway. Oh my, is this yarn ever yummy! It is softer than the regular Supersock, but still has the tight twist I love so much in sock yarns. and the colorway is simply wonderful!

Speaking of wonderful, I managed to snag some Wollmeise from The Loopy Ewe this week.

Why did I want these two colorways particularly? Look at the labels:

My uncle’s name is Frantz and my grandfather’s name was Emil. :-)

Speaking of wonderful, look at the surprise that was waiting for me when I got home today:

This is a giant gourmet fortune cookie, sent to me by the totally awesome Dani. Thank you, Dani! I can’t wait to dig in!!

Lucy sez:

“Busted!”

    I hope you’re sending some more Twisty Bits to Sheri too. I slept through that one in sneak-up.

    I’ll bet that Lucy didn’t even try to look guilty, did she? I know our cats don’t even when I find them on top of the kitchen cupboards (route: chair, table, counter-top, top of refrigerator, top of cupboards – only the chair is fair kitty territory). {g}

    Because you’ve used lots and lots of sock I want your opinion, is Wollmeise really all that people say it is?

    Good grief, I’m wondering how you do it on the Wollmeise too. I completely give up. I NEVER get any and the frustration is just too much (yes, I’m whining).

    That fortune cookie looks great – will you share the fortune once you crack that baby open? :-)

  11. Carol

    Okay, Miss Wendy, I have 2 bones to pick with you.
    1. Stop hogging all the Wollmeise when some of us drones keep missing it.
    2. Stop creating a gorgeous sock pattern every other day or you are gonna put some of us out of business.

    It’s a good thing you’re a nice person or I’d be forced to hate you out of envy. (;

    Love your socks ( as always). I have to ask, is Lucy busted because she’s not supposed to be sprawled out on the table? We all know she does whatever she wants, because she’s too cute to not let her do what she wants.

    I am liking the new socks so far! Well, lusting after is a more accurate verb, but Lucy has delicate feelings.

  18. MaryO

    Lordy I love that new yarn, it is 222222222 beautiful. What a colorway! And your latest sock project is positively DEE-LIGHT-FUL! I remain amazed at your flow of creativity!

    Lucy is NOT amazed that she is busted! Nor does she care! She is 22222 cute to worry about it! :-) luv.m.

    I am trying in vain to make enough TLE Purchases to become a Loopy Groupie… I love the new sock – it almost looks like kites (seems to me “Go Fly a Kite” would be a stellar name! Just sayin’)

  24. Marlene

    Wendy, is there a way you can tell Sheri to separate the patterns that are sport weight from the rest, it is really hard to search for sport weight patterns in the website as you would have to open each pattern one by one to see which ones are fingerweight and which are SW. That will be great! Now that I know that the Ribbon Candy socks are SW I will be waiting for them to post the pattern so I can buy it. Thanks!

    Cats demand “rent” from us in one way or another…Usually its our undying devotion to them or it can be just showing us that they can do whatever they want whenever they want! My 12yr old cat when she was an only never got on the table until the day her daddy came home from Annual Training and now since we dont use it anyways all 4 of them have decided its theirs!

    There is something about the Ida’s Delusions of Grandeur socks that make them my favorite I have seen of your designs so far. It must be a combination of the colorway and the pattern stitch that touches me in particularly well. They remind me of some of the prettiest wildflowers we have growing out by our barn.

    Nicely done, sweet Wendy.

    Hi Wendy – I did a pair of socks a few years ago using CTH Java. And sadly, the yarn did not seem to hold up as well as some other – the socks got pilly and shabby-looking very quickly. I ADORE the colorway (those little glints of eggplant, olive, and navy blue) and am toying with the idea of doing some type of shawl/wrap (maybe that darn Clapotis!). Good luck with your Java!
