I finished my Midnight Lace Stole yesterday. Did I mention I love it?
It’s so pretty!
Gwendolyn is enjoying wearing it.
Midnight Lace Stole by Sivia Harding, knit in Handmaiden Sea Silk in the “woodland” colorway. My stole took 2.75 skeins of Sea Silk — pattern calls for 3 skeins, so it’s pretty much spot-on.
Sea Silk is sort of a heavy laceweight and is perfect for this design. It adds a bit of weight to the stole, and the drape of the silk is just fabulous. I feel like a 1930s movie star wrapped in this stole. Pity I don’t look like one.

Did you knit straight from the skein or do some intermixing to avoid pooling etc? Love the edging.

the lace is beautiful. I just bought 1400 yards of a laceweight silk/wool blend yarn, and I’m trying to figure out what to do with it.

Absolutely LOVE the finished stole! Seasilk DOES have an exquisite drape – I’ll bet the stole is much more beautiful in person than the camera can catch

Wendy, you have got to quit knitting lace shawls that I then have to knit. My queue of projects is heavily influenced by your blog. I love the Sivia Harding patterns. I love, love, LOVE that stole! However, I would call it a shawl, as it seems a little too big to be called a stole. It is inspiring me to get my Diamond Fantasy shawl out of the bag in which it is languishing so that I can have something beautiful. But I don’t have time this year. Beautiful! When I checked the Handmaiden site to look at the colors, I never would have expected the Woodland colorway to knit up to such a subtle mix, which I like very much. But then, I’ve never seen a skein in person.

The miniture knitter is wearing Alice Starmore’s “Katherine Howard” from “Tudor Roses.” I really need to finish that one some day. It’s 1/2 done in the original yarns and I pooped out on it.
