Lucy and I have had a quiet weekend. I’ve done some unbloggable work, but I’ve also done a bit of work on my Stole. It’s perfect television knitting, because it’s mindless enough that I don’t have to constantly pay attention, yet it’s interesting enough so I don’t get bored. The perfect balance!

Crockpot Cookery

Do you have a slow cooker? Check out this fabulous blog that one of my Plurk buddies posted a link to this morning: A Year of Crockpotting. A year’s worth of crockpot recipes! What’s not to like?

Lucy’s Furry Rat Toy

Lucy’s current favorite toy is a large furry rat. She’s had it for several months, but in the past several days, she has become obsessed with it. Remember in the Peanuts cartoon strip when Snoopy would get in vulture position on top of his doghouse? Well, Lucy will get in vulture position over her rat and stare at it intensely for five minutes or so before she starts to attack it.

Here you can see she has subdued it to her satisfaction. For now.

  1. I hope all your dreams come true, Wendy and that Lucy finds a substitute dream.

I think lots of us are getting into the declutter/simplify act these days. I wonder if it’s a reaction to the economy or simply our time of life.

    Enjoy your day :)

  2. I’ve been following the crocpot blog for a coupl of months now. Can’t remember how I got there. And I always enjoy seeing what Lucy is up to!

  3. That stole is so lovely! I know what you mean about the perfect balance. I find that some knitting I want to work on does not go with my stitch and bitch night, and have to choose accordingly.

Thanks for the crockpot recipe link. Now I know what’s for dinner! Gotta go, bye.

ccr in MAs last blog post..What a cute kitty!

  4. I will definitely check out the crock pot recipes. I find I get cluttered up and it just makes me crazy. Then I “declutter” and it is so amazing how much relief it brings. Getting karma back in order I guess. I am about to start a pair of socks from the pattern Six-Pack Socks of which I purchased from out favourite Loopy Ewe!!! Enjoy your Sunday!!!

  5. The lace is gorgeous, Wendy. We do love that tv knitting. Thanks for the link!

  6. Thanks for the crockpot site link – she has some yummy looking recipes. I had just made a resolution to use my crockpot more so I don’t wind up calling for pizza so often.

  7. Thank you for all of the insight into you and Lucy, she is too cute with her toy. Hanging Garden is so beautiful, you’ve gotten a lot done this weekend.

scotland is a nice place. It was very chilly when i went in August though, so even if it’s 90 degrees in the states, take a jacket! If you get the opportunity, go see a military Tattoo. Those are fun!

  11. who will play Wendy when the screenplay is filmed? what other actresses knit besides darryl hannah?

  12. That crockpot website is awesome. Less time cooking means more time for knitting!

I say Susan Sarandon should play you…

    Thanks, Cindy

  13. Wendy, thank you for your sweet words and for the link to my blog. I had an awful lot of fun with this project.

  14. Love that crockpot site…I’ve been following it for a couple of months now. Also, love kitties and their “prey”. I think my favorite thing is the butt wiggle just before a pounce! :-)

  15. You are on Facebook? I just searched for you there a couple hours ago — must do so again. That crockpot cooking site looks intriguing. Must try some of her recipes.

  20. Do you have The Lady Vanishes? The original one in black and white. The men rushing to get to the Test Match (cricket, England) match are so funny. They butchered the story in the 80s remake.
    The stole is lovely.
My cat Lucky has an old ratty fish he has been carrying around the house. He keeps leaving it on my bed. Oh lucky me

  21. I have been reading the Year of Crockpotting blog for a week or two now. It’s a great resource, but I have one of those tiny 1.5 quart crock pots so I’m constantly wondering if I can just reduce all of the proportions and make the same food. I should just get a bigger crock pot.

  22. A Year of Crockpotting??? You have probably changed my life.

  23. Dee (MeezieMom) says:

Do you know “Whisky Galore”? It’s an Ealing comedy, 1949, also titled “A Tight Little Island” in the US. Very good, very funny. Has a young Gordon Jackson in it, looking *nothing* like he did in Upstairs, Downstairs. I remember viewing it in my childhood, when it was less than 10 years old. Thank God for “Million Dollar Movie” on ch. 9 in NYC. They had great movies and started my addiction as an elementary school kid. Thanks!!

    Dee

  24. Wendy- If the Genie gave me 3 wishes, one would definitely be to eat what I want and not gain weight. Can you imagine?

I’m into the British “Kitchen Sink” films- which I highly recommend.

  25. Wendy – that stole is almost mindless knitting?!?!?!? Hummm, could you direct me to the pattern. It is BEAUTIFUL.

I agree, may all your wishes come true. And when you figure out the eating without gaining one, LET ME KNOW!!!!!

  27. Hi Wendy- I’ve been reading your blog for years now and have only left one comment. Just wanted to let you know I enjoy seeing your knitting and reading your blog.

  28. Thanks for the crockpot link! I’m excited and am going to looooooooooove trying new crockpot recipes. Though, I have to say I won’t be using my cp every day!

lifexhistorys last blog post..Home again, home again

  29. My Penelope loves her mice too. She gets in that same vulture position. For about 5 minutes she’s super protective, like a mother hen, and then she’s a bat out of hell attacking them for the next 5 minutes.

Melissas last blog post..Lets Do the Time Warp Again

  30. Try and get to Scotland its beautiful and you’d get to put some wonderful wool in your stash if you go to the Hebrides or Orkney Islands. I spent many a childhood and adult holiday exploring various parts, but its Iona and Mull that win out so far…the whitest sand and bluest (and coldest) water. I’d love to go to the stone circles of Callanish.
As for worrying I found the book “f**k it” by John C Parkin a great help.
BTW Lucy is not the only one who’d like to get into your stash lol.
As for old movies – Arsenic and Old Lace, Harvey and The Philadelphia Story are my favs.

  31. This is wonderful and hilarious.

If I ever make it back to my hometown (I was born in D.C.) I will let you know and bring Lucy some primo organic catnip.
