My current work in progress:

1. Woodfords, designed by Elizabeth Doherty, knit from Madelinetosh Merino Light in the "paper" colorway on U.S. size 3, 5, and 7 needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

And That’s The Week That Was

Thank you for all your good wishes for my recovery. I think I might live now . . .

I’ve spent the past week felled by the worst case of the flu that I can ever remember having. Still not 100%, but definitely better than I was.

I’ve no knitting to show for myself, for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I couldn’t knit for several days. And I’ve been dealing with other stuff for the past several days, and am likely to have to continue to do so for the next few days.

My poor Mini Mochi sock has not ventured out of its bag in well over a week. But I’ll return to it as soon as I can, and will post the pattern for it after I finish it.

Lucy sez:

“I hope she’s going back to work soon. I’m exhausted.”

  1. So nice to have you back!

Go slow – it will “all” be there waiting for you.

  2. Glad to hear that you are among the living again! I’ve seen news reports that there are less cases of the flu this year, but the unlucky ones that get it are really sick. Don’t hurry back to work!

  3. It’s good to have you back. Don’t worry about knitting, posting etc. Take it slow and easy, don’t overtire yourself. to paraphrase Mary Pat above, “it will all be waiting for you”. Your health is more important than any deadline(s).

  4. I’m glad you’re recovering, but don’t rush it. Stay home, get lots of rest and only do what you really want to do. This is a bad strain of flu. I’m sure Lucy is taking good care of you.

  5. Wendy in Cambridge says:

I’m so glad to hear that you’re on the mend, and I hope you’re completely well soon. The flu is awful!

  6. Living is always good. Lucy is tired of taking care of you huh? Silly kitty

  7. I, too, am glad you’re feeling better. Nurse Lucy, on the other hand, appears to be on the brink of utter collapse from all the tending she’s been doing. I think she needs a few days at a Kittie Spa to recuperate :P

Knit when you feel like it, blog when you can, work when you must. (sounds like a motto, doesn’t it?)

  8. Thank you Lucy, for looking after Wendy for us!

  9. Glad you are feeling a little better, and that Lucy has been taken good care of you. The knitting will be there when you are ready. Take care of yourself, and pamper Lucy when you are able.

  10. I have been on the same Plague Path this past week! Bleah! I couldn’t knit, either, just in a daze/stupor of agony or sleep. Here’s to getting back to 100%, and fast. (:clinks mugs of tea:)

  11. PLEASE take care of yourself and let Lucy continue to spoil you with purrs and headbonks. Did you get a flu shot this year? They aren’t 100%, but do help.
Don’t rush the recovery, but just be sure and pop in to the blog so we know you’re OK. You’ve got a bunch of worried people here…

  12. Lucy looks exhausted.Your fingers must be itching to get back to the yarn.Don’t overdo and give Lucy a hug for me,Hubby is the only animal I’m allowed to have at the moment.

Glad to hear from you :). Take it slow now…

  18. The flu is never a quick recovery – take it slow and feel better – just looking at yarn often soothes the soul even if knitting takes too much energy for now…

  19. The virus is a bad one this year. Get your vitamins and eat and drink well to get your strength back on board.

  20. Get well soon! We miss you!!

  24. You’re back. Glad you’re on the mind. Hope you’re back to your mini mochi soon. I’ve been off socks almost a month now and am going through sock-knitting withdrawal. Hopefully…next weekend.

  25. Am glad you’re fighting your way back to feeling better. Know it’s hard – just take all the time you can – sleep is good – soup is good – warm kitties are GREAT!

Hope you have a speedy recovery. Perhaps some wild side salmon would perk up Lucy!

  29. So glad to hear that you are on the mend. There are many nasty bugs going around these days. I hope that you feel 100% soon and can return to the enjoyment of your knitting in the very near future!

  31. The only good thing about the “first you’re afraid you’ll die, then you’re afraid you won’t” flu is how wonderful simple pleasures seem when you recover. Knitting should be a joy when you are reunited with it. Meanwhile, enjoy Lucy’s company.

  32. So happy to know you are back in the land of the living!! That Flu can really bring you down!! Feel better soon!

  33. Your flu sounds like what I had after Christmas. I was so sick I got depressed. My harp spontaneously disintegrated, I just said, eh. About ten days after I got sick I felt enough better to cry for two days before returning to normal. And I even had a flu shot. Life is so unfair.

  37. Adding my voice to many, relieved & happy to know you’re on the mend. Missed you, knitting or no!

  38. Glad to see the flu didn’t kill you! Take it easy, get lots of hot liquids and rest, and get your recommended daily amount of purrs from Nurse Lucy!

  39. Glad you’re feeling better! There are still some nasty bugs other than flu (like the intestinal virus several of my friends got) going around out there, so don’t push it while your resistance is down!

  40. I am so happy you are feeling better. Cats are so superior, to be immune to catching the nasty bugs we catch annually. Perhaps it is the regularly scheduled program of napping that is their secret? Lucy, share your secret with us mere humans.

  41. I’m glad you’re slowly crawling your way back to the land of the living. Do take it very, very easy for a while, though — I had a nasty flu years ago and didn’t heed my own advice and ended up promptly felled by a nasty throat infection. Listen to your body, and listen to Lucy, who says, “Stay in bed, Mom, so we can have lots and lots of extra cuddles!”

  42. People toss around the word “flu” pretty liberally…..one year I got the actual flu. I was so sick that I remember thinking dying would be a blessing. I am all about empathy for you….so glad you are feeling better, and reenter your busy life slowly!!
