My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Seven Years

Today is the seventh anniversary of my blog. Imagine that — I’ve been rambling on for all these years and haven’t run out of things to say. Interesting content my be thin on the ground from time to time, but that has never stopped me.

I do have a new project to show you today. Hey guess what? It’s socks.

sock040109

The yarn is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in the “Whisper” colorway and I’m using my usual 2mm needles. The pattern motif is supposed to be a butterfly or dragonfly, depending on which you’d rather it was. I’m calling the design “Aimee” after a friend who has a fondness both for butterflies and the color pink.

socka040109

Speaking of Aimee, the Aimee in question has posted a review of my upcoming sock book on her blog. You can check it out here. She’s got some nice sneak peak photos of the book’s innards and a good synopsis of what it’s all about. Thanks, Aimee!

I’m in the throes of one of my stealth projects, so this entry is brief. But I want to thank everyone who has stopped by to read and/or comment over the years this blog has been around.

Lucy sez:

Does the blog-i-versary mean I get a treat?

congratulations, yours was one of the first blogs I found in 2003 when I rediscovered knitting. I was infatuated with St*rmore’s work and you had a treasure trove in your archives even then. Here’s to many more years of happy knitting and blogging or whatever blogs morph into.

Well, then, I think it’s equally suitable that I finished your book, Wendy Knits, just this morning. What a fun read!! I am sooooo afraid to try spinning. I need another hobby like I need another hole in the head. I just started beading this week, and am sure I’ll be combining that craft with my crochet and knitting very soon. LOL! Happy Blogday!

I read the review in Vogue Knitting last night about your book. My favorite part? “The maestro has spoken”. How true.

Looking forward to more blog years and your book.

Congrats on 7 productive and educational years. Thanks for all your efforts!

Please give Lucy some extra catnip and whatever the treat of the day is – cats are so finicky they never stay true to any one thing for too long. Have you ever gone back to “greenies”? I give three every couple of days – not too many and does Danser ever love them! Even Perry, in her last and extremely finicky days, would get excited at the very word :)

Happy anniversary. I came across your pre-blog website when we first got a computer and was googling around for knitting sites. I was amazed by your gallery of Dale of Norway and other intricate sweaters, often completed in a matter of weeks. I was hooked by the gorgeous knitting, and sweet Izzy. It’s been fun to see your knitting take off in different directions; there is always something new to explore with this craft.

Happy 7th Anniversary! You are truly an inspiration to all of us sock knitters! I do appreciate the many tips and lessons you have given us over the years — I’m a complete convert to “knitting from the toe up.” Whether you are blogging about knitting, a worthy cause, a pet peeve, a new book, Lucy-Lucy, etc., you are always interesting and fair. You have brought many subjects to our attention that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. Thanks and Congratulations — I look forward to the next seven years!!
