Sprucey Lucy It Is

I can see from the voting that Sprucey Lucy is the clear winner for the name of my new sock design. And in celebration, I finished the first Sprucey Lucy sock on the train this afternoon.

Knitting on the second sock will commence soon.

Yesterday was a busy one! I was insanely busy working on a stealth project on a tight deadline, along with a few hours of badly needed housecleaning. I did take time out for lunch, though:

Before:

After:

In the interests of full disclosure, I bit the ears off my bunny (the other one is the KOARC’s bunny) Saturday night. Okay, I bit my bunny’s whole head off as well, right after taking the second photo. I ate the rest of him for lunch on Sunday. Nom.

Knit Purses!

I have in my hot little hands a copy of this book:

one ball knit purses041309 187x240 Sprucey Lucy It Is

One Ball Knits: Purses, by Fatema, Khadija, and Hajera Habibur-Rahman.

This book has patterns for 20 handbags, each of which requires one ball or skein of yarn.

There is a great “Basics” section that discusses yarn weights and types, tools, and step-by-step illustrated instructions for stitches and techniques. Check out a sample page:

The purses are divided by seasons. Here’s my fave from each season.

Spring:

I’d love to be in the contest. Thanks, Wendy and Lucy.

  38. I was just bemoaning the fact to another blogger that, not having kids at home anymore, I no longer have a legitimate excuse to buy chocolate bunnies. Of course, if I won a copy of that book, it would somewhat make up for the missing choco bunnies. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I love the socks, and their name ๐Ÿ™‚

  57. Ooh! Ooooh! Oooh! Me!

Don’t worry Lucy – In my estimation it is a fair trade to give up opposable thumbs to be waited on hand-and-foot and sleep all day long (like a kitty princess rightfully should!)

  58. Sprucey Lucy is a great name.

Please add me to the list for the purse book. My wish list of books just grew — again! ๐Ÿ™‚

  59. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a purse-a-holic!!!!!!!! I could kill for this book!!!!!!!!!! Please let this be my lucky day and let me be picked for something!!!!. I don’t think I have won a thing in my whole life! Well, that’s not completely true. Since my 20 yr old Cat dies in Feb., I have adopted a beautiful 4 yr old calico cat named Patches. Her owner was going to a hospice and she was put up for adoption. She and I locked eyes at an adoption show and we knew we couldn’t live without each other. I love her and she loves me. She has never been around men before so she and my husband are working on their relationship. And since I also have 2 dashounds she slaps each one early in the morning just to go ahead and get that out of the way for that day. They want to play with her, she is just alittle unsure of them yet. She has been through so much in such a short time, but she is a jewel for sure. I definately won first prize with Patches.
