Publication Day

At long last, it is publication day for Socks From the Toe Up. Considering that the majority of my work on this book was completed over a year ago, it seems like I’ve been waiting forever! I hope those of you who purchase it enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The very awesome Aimee has already put all the patterns from the book up on Ravelry, so if you are a Raveler, you can start queuing projects by visiting the patterns here.

In other news, I have washed and blocked all the sample socks from the book in preparation for taking them on the road with me to book signings and classes.

I’ll be posting all public appearances as they are scheduled on my Travel and Teaching Schedule page (accessible via the link at the top of this page.) There are a lot more events in the works, and they will be added as soon as they are confirmed and all plans are finalized.

Nothing To Do With Knitting, But Totally Worth Watching

Click this link to go to YouTube (embedding is disabled so you have to go to YouTube) to watch an amazing video of Ms. Susan Boyle’s audition last Saturday for the British television show, Britain’s Got Talent. The video has been watched over 3 million times at the time I’m writing this, so you may have already seen it. If you haven’t, go now! It’s an ootch over 7 minutes long but worth every second. I’ve watched this a number of times over the past three daysย  — just amazing. If you can watch it all the way through with dry eyes, you’re a stronger person than I. Susan Boyle is my new hero.

Back to real life here, Teddy is modeling:

  1. I get my copy today. I can’t wait to get home from work.

  2. Wendy…the book is FABULOUS. I got mine off the doorstep yesterday. It’s beautiful, the text is well-written, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the explanations about different heels and toes. The timing couldn’t be better as I am about to turn a heel on a toe-up sock, and I was unpleased with my last one. With your fabulous book, I know it’s going to be better. Thank you so much!

I’m expecting your book to arrive on my doorstep tomorrow or Thursday. In the meantime, I looked at the photos on Ravelry and promptly ordered more yarn from the Loopy Ewe. Thanks for keeping my knitting obsession healthy! And congratulations on your Publication Day . . .

I watched the Susan Boyle video — no dry eyes here either.

Thank you for the link to Susan Boyle’s singing. It was fantastic, just goes to show that not all singers have to be young and beautiful in this day and age. I had to play it twice in a row, and I am going to go listen to it again right now.

  20. congrats on the book, mine is on its way from amazon.

Susan Boyle, with her golden voice and sweet demeanor, deserves much success and joy. Dont you just want to knit her a fabulous shawl and wrap her in the love and admiration we all feel for such an unassuming person? Her mum in heaven must be so proud.

  21. I watched that video last night and was crying as soon as the first phrase was over. My 4 1/2 year old son begged me to play it again. When it was over he said “Daddy, that song is so nice it’s making my eyes water like Mommy’s!”

  23. I received my book yesterday and was thrilled! I love the layout and even though I’m an experienced sock knitter, there were things in the Techniques sections that were new to me. (I’m thinking I could even figure out Magic Loop from your diagrams and explanations). Thank you for taking the time to write a book that I know will be a favorite in my library.

I watched the Susan Boyle video a couple times, both with tears…

  24. I got my book today! Love it! Congratulations!
