All Lucy All the Time

The Sprucey Lucy Socks pattern is now available, in pdf format, here. You can also access it from my free patterns page.

And speaking of Lucy, check out these babies:

These are “Lucy” sock blockers from Chappy’s Fiber Arts and Crafts. Aren’t they cute? Lucy thinks so. icon smile All Lucy All the Time

You can find more Lucy sock blockers on eBay here.

By the way, Sheri did do a shop update at The Loopy Ewe last night and restocked the Sunflower sock pattern. My two new patterns, Aimee and Ribs and Cables, are both available there now as well.

Last night I did indeed start a new sock from my Claudia Handpainted yarn in the “Pink Cloud” c0lorway.

Not a whole lot of progress yet because I started, knit an inch or so of the pattern, didn’t quite like it, ripped it out, and re-jiggered. This is a simple “cloverleaf” rib pattern and I like the way it is working out. Because the yarn is variegated, I wanted something relatively simple, but still entertaining to knit.

  1. Thank you so much for this great pattern – you’re so generous…. and sweet. :) The new cloverleaf design (rollin’ in clover?) is lovely. Off to visit the Loopy Ewe…

    Thanks again,

  2. Thanks for another great pattern! Those sock blockers are adorable.

  3. The pink in the pink cloud is reminiscent of clover. Thanks for the pattern.

  4. Another thanks for the pattern too. Also, received my copy of your book last week. It is absolutely stunning! I have had some of my knitting books wire bound (as in your post a couple days ago). I am planning on doing that with your book too, except that part of me wants to keep it as perfect as it is. Ah well, it’s meant to be used, right? :-)

  5. The new sock looks wonderful. I’ve downloaded Sprucy Lucy. Now to find just that right shade of green

  13. Well, it was all Lucy, most of the time, unless you’re going to name that new sock for Lucy, too! Pretty, like Lucy.

I’m going to go look at your new book on Thursday at my LYS. I’ve not been a toe-up knitter, yet, but I never say never to anything knit. The cover picture is beautiful, and I look forward to looking inside.

Thanks for sharing Sprucey Lucy. And I love your new sock blockers!

The new sock looks gorgeous in that colourway… very pretty detailing!

  20. Thank you, Wendy, for the very cool pattern. I’ve already printed it and will keep it in your new book I just received. Love it!

Maybe on Lucy’s birthday, you could dedicate a blog post for her….

I really like the pink and gray together and the pattern is very interesting.

  21. I love the sock blockers, they’re very adorable. And the new pattern looks awesome too.

I have a totally random question that I’m not sure you’ll have an answer to, but I figure why not ask the expert anyway.

So almost all of your patterns call for size 0 to get the 8 stitches per inch. What I’m curious about is I really like 1.5 and even 2 (sometimes, depending on the yarn) and I can often get 8.5 – 9 stitches per inch. Am I just knitting too tightly? Why this crazy discrepancy in gauge?

I’m asking mostly because some of the lacier socks I’m scared to try because I’m afraid they won’t turn out right if the gauge is wrong.

Wendy, you are too generous. My biggest problem right now is deciding which of your patterns to do next. Oh, and I did buy a second copy of your book for my daughter. Her birthday is Saturday, and she fell in love with my copy.

  23. Thanks for the pattern – I’ll be casting it on next. The new sock looks like another pattern I’ll be wanting to make too. Your summer of socks 2008 pattern got me going on toe up and I don’t want to do top down any more. Many thanks and hello to dear Lucy.

  24. Ooh, lovely! I’ve got it downloaded and ready. My knitting group is going on a yarn crawl this Saturday and I’ll be on the lookout for the perfect yarn for this.

I just got your book!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to start knitting…but, where are all of the pics of Lucy?????!!!! The socks are beautiful, yes indeed, but wouldn’t they have looked EVEN better with Lucy sleeping/sitting/lounging nearby? I’m just saying….

Thanks for the Sprucey Lucy pattern. Since my color ink is about empty, my color pic looks more like pukey pumpkin. I’ll certainly do them in green tho.
And you know the ‘real’ Lucy so well. I can just hear her say the things you say she’s saying……..I think I was a cat in my former life!
The new book is a real winner, I think I want them all!

  28. Wendy, just got my copy of Socks from the Toes Up – love it!! It’ve been wanting to learn some new sock techniques and your book is just the tool I need. Thanks for the great work!

  33. I’ve been really tempted by the Chappy’s sock blockers for what feels like forever. They are gorgeous, but I’ve always stopped myself because they are wood. I have a pair of acryllic see-through sock blockers (with the needle sizes drilled in), but I haven’t used them that often.

Love the cloverleaf pattern. Reminds me a bit of the healthy spine socks (which I haven’t finished yet – but at least I’m on the second sock!). Great yarn color too.

  35. I love the new socks, pattern, and colorway!!! And Lucy’s sock blockers, too.
(but yes, Lucy, there should have been at least ONE more photo of you, dear.)

I absolutely love the colorway and design of your new pattern – and I just came back from my LYS…..no wonderful colorway as the one you are using…..I will keep searching.

  38. Thanks, Wendy. Sounds like Lucy might want to write her own post one of these days. Give her scritches from me, OK.
