Post Fling Post

I returned home from The Loopy Ewe Spring Fling late yesterday afternoon.

littleloopy042709 182x240 Post Fling Post

I’ll tell you up front — I never took my camera out of my bag. Yes, I am lame. icon wink Post Fling Post

I was too busy — teaching classes, catching up with old friends and meeting new friends, and basically having fun.

Here’s a blurry pic of me and Irish Diva Kate:

kate042709 239x213 Post Fling Post

Why are we blurry? I’m clinging to Kate for dear life. And why am I clinging to Kate for dear life?

Because I am wearing her Steve Madden platform pumps with the 5″ heels.

heels042709 239x180 Post Fling Post

My feet still aren’t sure what that was about . . .

Tempted Stacy was there, and I was so happy to be able to spend some time with her. And guess what? She gave me a skein of Lucky Lucy (the yarn I used for my Sprucey Lucy socks — pattern is on my free patterns page) to give away!

  5. Those are some shoes! I don’t think they’d show off handknit socks very well, so they’re probably not the shoes for me :)

  6. Love those shoes! Couldn’t dream to wear a 5″ heel, but they’re fun to look at!!

    Glad you had fun!

Sending mojo to the Random Number Generator…. It can’t ignore me forever!

Glad to see Miss Lucy survived without her mommy this weekend, and it was so good to see you again this year!

  10. Heh…. those are some dangerously tall shoes! Not as tall as the giant inflatable you-know-what though. ;)

  11. The shoes are very cool but I think I’d have to hold on for dear life too! I love the crocheted Loopy. Glad you had fun and are home safe and sound.

  12. I was so disapointed that I couldn’t go this year, but reading about in on Ravelry and looking at your book and Cookie’s book gave me a vicarious experience!

    Cool shoes!

  13. I manage to fall if I wear shoes like that sitting down!

Oh, please let me win the skein of Lucky Lucy. Please!

    (thank you)

  14. Oh, that skein is beautiful!!!

I’m so glad you had a wonderful time while you were there!

Would love this yarn.this week is turning into a bad one and so this is welcomed

  19. Sounds like it was a fun trip!

The shoes are cute, but my feet hurt just looking at them!

  20. I would have been flat on the floor in about three seconds flat. But it would have probably been fun. And I’ve been admiring that yarn for days now. I *need* more sock yarn. Truly! (or not)

I love the little loopy crocheted guy at the top.

  21. Those are dynamite shoes!!! No wonder you were hanging on for dear life. LOL
I would love the Lucky Lucy yarn to make some fab socks out of.

  22. I love the Loopy Lamb! So very cute!

And at least you were standing. I can’t wear heels of almost any kind or my face will spend more time on the floor than my feet. Go figure

That yarn really is beautiful. Who couldn’t use more sock yarn, right??

  23. Sounds like you had a blast :) Your Sprucey Lucy socks are next on my list to knit, how cool would it be to have the same yarn…Hope the ‘real’ world is kind to you as you reintegrate.

  24. Glenda Watts says:

I LOVED your Sprucey Lucy socks (and Lucy herself is quite charming)!

  25. Sounds like a great time was had by all. I would have tipped right over onto my nose in 5″ heels, never mind just clinging to someone! My mom wears really tall heels (at the tender age of 76) and I am awed.

  26. Can’t imagine wearing 5″ heels, but love the yarn.

  27. Glad to hear you had such a good time! Standing in those shoes…maybe. Walking in them…never! :)

  28. I would love to have a skein of Lucky Lucy. If I don’t win, I’ll have to stalk Tempted’s site for some. Rooming with Darthknitter had some advantages–she taught me all her stalking techniques.

  29. My/ your sock book is arriving tomorrow. I am so excited. Everybody has stopped raving about what this sock book did for them, but I will start tomorrow. I have 2 balls of sock yarn waiting. The Lucies are also lovely, and I want to knit the sock one. But I am a slow kntter and I don’t know when this will be finished. Actually that’s not quite true – I have so many projects on the needle that everything only gets a small amount of time dedicated to them so every article stays on the needle a long time.

  30. jo morgan says:

Hmmm — I have a brother in D.C. Why didn’t I use that as a reason (excuse) to attend Spring Fling? It looks like a blast. I love the yarn — please enter me in the drawing.

  31. Welcome back! Sounds like a good time was had by all. Of course I’d love to win yarn. I would be a very odd sock knitter if I didn’t.

  38. Holy cow, 5″ heels? I can handle 3-4 but without much grace, and I’m certainly in pain if I’m standing up and walking around in them a lot.

That Sprucy Lucy would look lovely in my stash. *Crosses fingers*

  49. Five inch heels? I’d probably break a leg just trying to get into them!

  50. Ooh pretty yarn. I’d love to win. I hope Mr. Random Number Generator selects me.

  51. I remember wearing spike heels and the heels slipping through the grates in the sidewalks. My shoe would come off my foot and I’d have to turn around and pull the shoe out of the grate. This was in St. Louis in the 60′s.

  52. Wow! You’re brave to put on those shoes – they would scare me! :)

  53. Welcome home! Would love the yarn, of course! ;}

  54. I had shoes just like that when I was 18, and I’m not going to say how long ago that was. I used to go dancing in them, and it’s a wonder I never broke my neck! I’m glad you had such a great time away, and I’m sure Lucy had just as much fun alone with her dad only she’s not saying.

  55. Man, that looks like fun. I’ve had eye surgery, so I’m stuck at home. :(

Pretty yarn, too. I love those greeney-blue colours.

  56. Cute shoes! I could always use a little luck. :)

  68. Free yarn always interests me, especially in those colors.

  69. I’ll give the yarn a good home. Thanks

  70. Seriously scary shoes! Excellent looking yarn though.

  71. Gretcheng says:

Hoo boy, my feet start to cramp just looking at those shoes. But you’re styling!

Ditto on the gauge discussion. I use US 00/1.75mm to get 7.5 stitches per inch, and I can’t seem to choke it down any tighter. But then, I do knit to relax! So with a longer pattern repeat I can only manage about four total and I have to fill in with knits or purls on the sides.

Thanks for ever more cool patterns, and I hope I win the yarn! Cheers– Gretcheng

  72. Fingers crossed on winning that yarn, and while I’m here I’ll also mention that I picked up a copy of your book and I LOVE IT! So well-written, so clear, and such terrific patterns!

  81. Wow, the fling must have been a lot of fun! As someone who is 5’8.5 already I really don’t need shows like that, but I love them anyway! It is pretty fun to be over six feet tall :)
