My current work in progress:

1. Thistle and Heather Socks (my own design), knit from MacKintosh Iona in the "Maude" colorway, on 2mm needles.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Something Different

I had one of those days yesterday when I couldn’t settle down to anything remotely resembling productive knitting. I hate when this happens.

I had made good progress on my second sock so thought I’d start a non-sock project (shocking, I know) and save the sock for commuter knitting. (I finished the second sock on the way home today. Doncha love my photo-styling?)

I started a couple of lace projects and threw them aside. I’m just not in the mood for lace right now.

But I had something else planned. To be knit from this.

yarn052609

I started. Can you guess?

Can you guess now?

wipb052609

How about now?

wipc052609

I think I’ll stick with this non-sock project for “at-home” knitting for now. And start something for the commute.

This means another sock project is imminent.

Lucy wants to know if snacks are imminent.

Looks like seed stitch to me!

(Which is good for a non-sock project, I think!)

Cannot guess, but thinks blue is a good color for Lucy. I also love the kitty face mat. :)

Might we have a gansey(guernsey) in the works?

If I were to guess about the non-sock project I would say its the start of a gansey.

I really want one of those leg models

Looks like a blue cardi. So that narrows the field!!

Another sweater from the most recent Mason Dixon book? Everyday Sweater or something like that?

    Not snacks – dinner!

Ooh! Ooh! I know what it is, because I just started it too! Child’s placket-neck pullover from Last Minute Knitted Gifts, right? Mine’s also blue, but in Cashmerino DK.

Wendy knitting something other than socks? Alert the media! : )

Looks like a sweater to me – perhaps some fair isle, or a bohus? Oh, the possibilities! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.

My guess is a sweater or a baby afghan. Since it’s wool, it’s probably a gift because you’ve stated that wool is too hot.

A new cat bed for Lucy? The blue is a lovely color for her!!

  17. Anna

That’s a gorgeous color, whatever it is! (I’ll go with the rest of the knitters and guess a sweater of some sort.) I’ve put aside my “Tempest” yarn project for the moment (my SIL said the auditorium will probably get hot, so I figured I don’t need a shawl for next week) and I’ve gone back to my Lacy Ribs socks.

I’m always amazed how you take downward shots of Lucy and keep your toes out of the picture. Do you have extremely small feet? My toes always sneak into the shot.

Are you making a blue bag of some sort?

I think it is a vest. I Have a color like that in wool for a sweater but to hot to knit it now. Elaine

  20. Freda

It’s a kitty leash and you are almost finished! (Seriously, my cat walks on a leash when we go to the vet with his “mommy,” the dog. Cracks up the vets.)

Am I the only one who appreciates your photo-styling? Artsy, as my high school drama teacher would have said. I was also thinking “kitty leash” since that blue looks so good on Lucy, but at this point it does look more like some kind of sweater in the works.

  23. Seanna Lea

It looks like a cardigan to me, but I’m only saying that because it is big enough around to be a sweater and is being knit back and forth.

I love the color. I’m a sucker for all of the different shades of blue.

  24. Tanneke

Oh, the socks are beautiful in those orange shades, and the styling does them justice. I can’t believe that you are not knitting a sock. Perhaps you are kidding us and that lovely blue piece is secretly a sock for your new pet elephant.

  25. Ina

The socks and your mystery project both look lovely.
I look forward to seeing more of your non-sock project. :)

LMKG placket sweater! I actually have the same LL sport in the same color blue and looking at that seed stitch makes me want to use it for that.

You’re knitting a wool cardigan? Has your thermostat settled down then? If the sweater needs a home when complete, I’ll take it! It’s beautiful already. I really like the socks, too. I’m still trudging on my first toe-up sock. I don’t think I’m a fan of the short-row heel, but that’s probably because I didn’t execute it well – either time (frogged the first attempt at the heel). The picture in your book looks so much nicer than mine does. Maybe I just need practice and the second sock will be better.

PS. I ordered some Wen last week and started using it today. I seem to be less frizzy… :-)
