My current work in progress:

1. Summer Solstice Mystery Shawl KAL, my design. Official knit-along in June!
2. Myriad stealth projects.

In Case You Wondered

I’m not just collecting knitting bags. I do still knit. I just haven’t done much lately.

I spent 2 days not knitting courtesy of whatever viral crud hit me last weekend but I am feeling almost human again, so the knitting has resumed.

I did finish the first modified Peace Sock.

Sck063009 160x240 In Case You Wondered

I’m working on the second one right now. What I’m not working on is the circular shawl I started last week in the Tilli Tomas Elsie yarn.  You know, the yarn that leaches blue dye everywhere?

I found myself avoiding working on it because the leaching of dye is so bad. I’ve come to the realization that I am not willing to knit with this yarn as it is. The yarn needs to be washed with synthrapol or something similar before it is fit to be used.

And I know myself well enough to know that I will never be bothered to do this. So who wants my dye-leaching yarn?

Ten skeins of Tilli Tomas Elsie in the “Jade” colorway. Eight of the skeins are in original condition, one is wound into a ball, and one is partially knit into a lace pattern. As a bonus you get to rip that part out yourself. icon wink In Case You Wondered

If you’d like to be entered in a drawing to receive this yarn, leave a comment to this blog entry. Don’t send me an email, don’t use the contact me link, just leave a comment. You need to click on the link at the end of this blog post that reads “x responses” to do so.

Leave said comment by 4:00pm Eastern Time on Thursday July 2. At that time I will awaken the mighty Random Number Generator and ask it to pick a winner.

  24. barb says:

What a wonderful offer. I have decided I really don’t like the yarn at the big commercial stores, but rather at my favorite yarn shop. Not to mention, I don’t want these local independents to go out of business. However, I am a stay-at-home grandma, watching my 4 little granddaughters. I have to be very choosey when buying my yarn, to get the best yarn for the money. I would love to win this yarn. The color is very nice, and I would be thrilled to rinse it and make something wonderful. Thank you for the opportunity to enter the contest.

  41. Cathy says:

Blue can be a hard color to set, but not impossible. It always steams me when the pros get it wrong. To the lucky soul who wins the yarn, heating it in a pot of water with a healthy glug of vinegar and then letting it cool down all the way will be less frustrating than rinsing, and rinsing, and rinsing. Don’t ask me how I know.

  75. Joan Neal says:

Did you say free yarn? Please count me in!

  76. Anna says:

Wow! Look at all the comments. I’m still trying to make it through toe-up sock. I’ve ripped out 4 versions because the pattern got lost in the handpainted yarn. I had to go buy a new skein (darn!) to try the Butterfly sock pattern in your new book. So, this is attempt 5. :=) And then the heat hit, so I haven’t felt like doing anything that involved a lot of moving.

  77. Maureen says:

I’d be thrilled to Synthrapol it. I’ve been meaning to get some for my new experiments in dyeing fiber and yarn. I’ve been learning how to spin, on a spindle. I’d love to have a wheel, but the expense, etc. is preventing that.

You used to spin, didn’t you? Have you done any lately?

  78. I can set the dye myself….I dye stuff all the time. And if I think ancestrally (I’m Irish — think Druid) then the blue fingers will fit right in anyway.
