It’s Faro Easy!

In all its blocked glory:

Faroeasy083009 203x240 Its Faro Easy!

This took approximately 600 yards of dk/light sportweight weight yarn — Lorna’s Laces Pearl, in the “Mineshaft” colorway. I used 3 100-gram skeins (220 yards each) and had 30 grams leftover from the last skein. US 7 (4.5mm) needle.

The wingspan is about 72″, and it’s about 26″ down the center back.

Faroeasy083009b 240x138 Its Faro Easy!

The pattern will be available in a couple of days. :-)

Hi Wendy– I’ve been following your posts for quite some time now, and love all of your knitted items! Just wondering, how are you able to knit so quickly?! I have so many projects in progress and some that I am still trying to get on needles, but need a quicker technique to get it all done! Keep up the amazing work! : )

  3. Deinera

I really l like the shawl. And the colorway of your new socks! And I am SO jealous that Lucy is such a mild mannered cat. Mine decided that she wanted the foam I was blocking the Girasole… only as long as the Girasole was on it. :(

And the new straight shawl is looking lovely as well. :) I really wish I could knit as quickly as you!

The colorway looks great in this picture. It didn’t have that depth in the previous ones. I may have to get this pattern, like the idea of a quick lace knit!!

  5. Lorien

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see what you make with that cashmere, too–so far it’s beautiful.

  6. Kathy Sue

Shoot. I only have one skein of LL Pearl in “Mineshaft” colorway. I splurged on it during Loopy Ewe’s Anniversary sale. Guess I will have to stick with the scarf plan for it. I will still get the “Faro-Easy”, though. I probably have something in my stash that will work if I can choose one! I, too wish that I could knit as fast as you do.

  7. motherbee

Yea! I think I’ll make that for my mom for Christmas.

  8. Kim B

Even more gorgeous blocked! I can’t wait for the pattern. Have some gorgeous DK and I think I have enough!! Woo-hoo!!!

My cat, Simba, loves to lay in the roving I’m trying to spin or on my sewing table on top of the fabric. She also likes to chase the sock yarn I’m knitting with, too.

Love the shawl! I’m not a very good lace knitter – tried the Kiri shawl twice, but always end up a stitch or 2 off…..think I’ll just stick with socks.

Love it Wendy – the perfect yarn for this great pattern! This is just my speed for now :)

Methinks the Faro Easy will make excellent prayer shawls.

I really like the larger scale of the lace pattern. At least Lucy waits until you’re blocking to take possession of knits; ours plunk down on my projects while I’m still knitting them.

I can’t believe how quickly you made this second faro shawl! And I really love the colorway. Nice!

I’m going to have to make that and yet I know I do not have the time. If only I could learn to knit one thing with my right hand while I knit another with my left hand. Imagine the progress I would make on my list of projects!

  16. catspaw

Hi Teddy, I’ve missed you. Hope your momma brings you to Graves Mountain.

  17. Sarah

It is a wonderful new shawl, and the finished size and yardage make it sound even more tempting.

    Beautiful Work!

  19. Maria

So, your Momma didn´t give you the pink blankie? Then we think this is yours, Lucy!!

Does the kitty motif pattern come with the shawl pattern! She sure is gorgeous–and an effective spokesmeowdal.

  22. Seanna Lea

I love how shimmery and metallic the mineshaft colorway knit up. Did you do anything to enhance that feeling in the picture or does Pearl really have that much shimmer to it. It’s beautiful, and I love the silvery color in it.

  23. Julie

Lucy has good taste – the kitty blanket, I mean shawl, is gorgeous!

  24. Linda

I love not only the shawl (can’t wait for the pattern) but also the beautiful sweater underneath, which didn’t even rate a comment in your blog!

  25. Karen

You have been knitting some really nice Lucy blankets lately. These will keep her nice and cozy in the winter (while she is waiting for the heat to be turned on :^)

  26. emmy jay

I’ve been off the ‘net for a few days and, whoo, hey, I won the book! (and at work right now, with no access to my personal mail…)

Faro Easy looks simple enough to be my next front-of-the-TV project, or at least the one after whatever JZ picks out after I get the book.

  27. Junieann

I received your sock book and wanted to say thanks for writing it. Lovely designs. Love the Faro. I love lace – but can’t manage the really fine lace. This looks perfect for my meager lace ability. Be nice and comfy for knitting while watching old black and white movies – Wuthering Heights etc…
