Mail Call

I love getting stuff in the mail, and an added benefit is getting stuff in the mail when you have little to blog about. Presto chango, instant blog fodder!

Exhibit A:

ShawlYarn092209 240x160 Mail Call

This is my yarn for the Enchanted Wood Lace Shawl KAL from The Unique Sheep. Hope on over to the page I linked there to read all about it. The Unique Sheep is finishing up The Secret Garden KAL. I didn’t join that one, but my buddy L-B did and she has been having a lot of fun with it. so I decided to sign up when they announced the Enchanted Wood club. You make your choice from many many yarns, and I chose their Luxe yarn (wool/silk blend) in a gradience colorway: Mirkwood. I love my yarn!

It looks like sign-ups are still open so anyone interested can still join in the fun. The KAL starts January 10, 2010.

Exhibit B:

What a surprise it was to receive a package from Johanne, as I was not expecting it. Inside was this:

Sock yarn! Sock yarn! Sock yarn! And this:

Magazine092209 193x240 Mail Call

It’s a Swedish crafts magazine, and this issue is focused on knitting. Great magazine — it reminds me somewhat of Threads. Johanne sent it to me because it has an article about traditional Swedish knitting with some wonderful photos:

I was flipping through the rest of the magazine and this caught my eye:

(It’s from an article about knitting resources on the internet.)

And from the comments . . .

  2. Bee-you-tiful Fame yarn!!!! Is it soft? Is it next on the needles? Is it going to be tried on by Teddy? Is Teddy on vacation? Will I see Teddy before the snow flies???

    Inquiring minds want to know……

  3. pretty pretty and I like that kitty bag too. But I’m on a bag diet right now unless they sell it at LYS where I’m working every now and then.
.-= southparknitter´s last blog ..On the go =-.

  4. Gee, thanks. Now I have to go buy MORE yarn! :-) And I already own that same yarn in the wild parrot gradience colorway but I think I like your colorway much better. Figures. I’ll look into that KAL, too.

All you knit bloggers are terrible terrible enablers, did ya know that?
    (don’t ever stop, please!)

  5. Squeeeeee! I can LUV teh Kitteh Bag too plz, kthnxbai! >^..^<~

  6. Mmmmmmmm! Mirkwood is lovely! Can’t wait to see my Dark Earth and start the KAL….agree(1) with the enabler remark above!

  9. oh, and I see another well-known favorite blogger too, just two names down from yours–lenealve, Finland I think–small world, eh? But well connected….

  10. WOW- that’s exciting to see your blog in there.
That’s a really neat looking yarn too. Do you tend to use your sock yarns as you get them (or at least intend to)- or will it be quite awhile before it makes it out of the stash?
    .-= Jessi´s last blog ..Video =-.

  11. Like you, I love getting stuff in the mail! My mother used to claim that even if someone sent me a box of s**t, if it came through the mail, I’d be happy …

Between the Swedish magazine and your London gig, you are becoming quite the international superstar. ;-)

  12. Mail is one of my very favorite things, and yarn in the mail is the absolute best!

  13. I’ve hosted a few of KALs over on Ravelry and there is always one or two people who start early. Always.

I see that you have your yarn but the KAL doesn’t start until January. So how do you keep from casting on early when you have such lovely yarn waiting for you?

  14. There is something rather special about parcels – maybe it reminds us of birthdays?

  15. I’m so tempted to join the KAL… but first I need to figure out a way to justify $80… hmmmm….

  16. OH! That shawl is going to be gorgeous!

  17. It looks like you have a great color selection for your new shawl.

Completely unrelated, I finally took the plunge and started my next sock from your book. I followed the Figure 8 toe instructions using my dpns and it worked just fine!

  18. Theresa in Italy says:

Seeing your blog listed—is that cool or what?

  19. oooh – ZAUBERBALL! That’s the colorway I picked to take home. :-)
