Paw Floof

Yeah, we gotcha paw floof right here!

Sidra Vitale asked in the comments:

Because her paws are so furry, does Lucy ever ‘hydroplane’ on linoleum surfaces?

I live in a high-rise condo, and the only parts that are not carpeted are the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the entry foyer. And each of these areas are rather small, so Lucy really doesn’t have room to work up a good hydroplane.

Though no doubt she would given the space to do so!

Last night, overcome with fatigue and ennui, I did little knitting on my sock, so not a lot of progress since yesterday.

I really really love this yarn — Alchemy Juniper. I first heard of it when Clara Parkes did a review of it on Knitter’s Review. Here’s the review. If you are interested in this sock yarn (and if you aren’t, why the heck not?0 go read the review. Clara does her usual thorough in-depth review and explains how such a lovely soft squooshy yarn can be a good sock yarn.

Lucy sez:

“I’m soft and squooshy and it is all good.”

I read the Alchemy review. Fabulous. Thank you for this information.

My ragdoll regularly hydroplanes on wooden floors. It’s great to watch him do bootlegger turns.

I have a lynx point ragdoll and he has an abundance of toe floof. We also have a big basement area with linoleum floors. When he and the other animals play, he can slide quite far at high speeds! LOL! It’s pretty funny to see.

I’ve got one medium-haired kitty with lovely paw floof. Poor Odin turned up on our back porch last year, starving and with one badly injured eye. He got lucky finding us, a we got lucky taking him in.

I’ll have to check out the Alchemy sock yarn. I tried one of their silk-wool worsteds and it was fabulous!

I just love Knitter’s Review!! Just knowing the email is in my inbox makes me happy! Wonderful sock, as always, and congrats on the gig in England – that’s going to be an amazing voyage, for sure!

Love the yarn and the pattern. As the cat mom of a maine coon mix, I am quite familiar with paw floof. I have to wet down his paws when I trim his nails.

Alas, my cat is not floofy enough for paw floof. She is very sleek. A mighty huntress. In fact, she says she is *the* mighty huntress of the east.

Did I mention sleek? Pay no attention to the belly waddle. ;)

There are four cats here in the meezer household, and nobody has paw floof. Ear tip tufts we have, but no floof.

I’ll bet it is lovely to “hold paws” with Lucy.

Great paw floof. That’s one of the reasons my Ragdolls are named for Hobbits. They have the same furry feet!

Wow – Clara really likes that yarn! I’m going to have to find a couple skeins!

And none of my current cats have paw floof, which is really too bad….

Thanks for the link to the Alchemy review! I just recently succumbed to two skeins (from the loopy ewe), and was dazzled by the yarn when it arrived. I fell in love with the color online, but the yarn itself is just amazing!

Our kitty does the hydroplaning thing, but she doesn’t have a lot of paw floof. It’s just a lot of linoleum and hard wood floors. She also thinks that her tail is the mortal enemy, which is more entertaining on our hard wood floors than the carpet from before.

Yes she is. Soft and squooshey (can. sp. ) that is. I’m sure that she can ‘hydroplane, on more than just her feet. Love the blog and your book(s).

Miss Lucy – there can never be any doubt that you’re soft as silk sweetie!

I have two Maine Coon kitties with very floofy hobbit feets and they hydroplane with great skill and not so much grace.
