Happy Thanksgiving

It’s a very foggy day here — and seems to be getting foggier by the minute!

fog112609 240x160 Happy Thanksgiving

In a couple of hours I’ll kick into Thanksgiving dinner preparation mode, but I wanted to stop by and wish you all a happy Thanksgiving — or a good Thursday, which ever applies.

Things I’m thankful for:

  • I have a good job and a comfortable home. While neither are perfect, I am very fortunate that I really don’t need anything.
  • The contact lenses the eye doctor gave me yesterday to try out are much better than the ones I had been using for the past year. Yay for good vision!
  • I did most of the Thanksgiving prep yesterday so I can relax and have fun for a good part of today.
  • Lucy. It’s amazing how much joy one small kitty can bring to my life.
  • Every knitter who has bought and enjoyed “Socks From the Toe Up.”
  • My amazing circle of friends, both “imaginary” and real. I did a lot of traveling in 2009 in support of my book and every place I went, there were friends to meet me at the train station or airport. You all have no idea how much this means to a girl who does not travel well.

Lucy sez:

“I’m gonna sit here and watch for the turkey . . . “

Wendy, thank you so much for your marvelous book. I started knitting again in May back at the basics and I’ve got four pairs to make for various people for Christmas. Your book removed a lot of the fears I had about knitting and made me feel like I really could do some of these miracles with yarn.
Since today is a special day I wanted to make sure I said thank you to the person whose brought me quite a bit of joy these last few months. Now can you refer me to a great sweater book?

; ) Happy Thanksgiving to you, Lucy, and all of yours

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for the fun time we had when you were in OKC and for the Socks from the Toe-Up book. I probably wouldn’t have gotten very far in sock knitting without it.

Happy Turkey (well actually, the turkey isn’t) to you and Lucy and whoever you are sharing with!

Didn’t realize you “didn’t travel well”! Neither do I, though with the right accomodations (in both senses of the word), I can manage to have a decent time.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Wendy and of course Lucy. ( dark or light meat Lucy?)
And to all the sockettes who read here.
Thanks for the book Wendy, as it finally conquered my fear of socks. I’ve been trying to knit socks since the 90’s and never found the help I needed and gave up. Now I have no fear of trying anything with needles and string!
Now, I shall climb into my bed for a little R&R.

Happy Thanksgiving, Wendy. I’m grateful for the way your blog makes each day richer and happier for me. I’m grateful for the internet that slices and dices the distance between people who might not ever have met without it.

    Thanks for being there.

Happy Thanksgiving. My Mr. says that is a proper fog. He’s from “round the bay” Newfoundland and that made him think of a nice spring day with the fog rolling in off the ocean.

Sorry Wendy, but I must object that your contact lenses and Thanksgiving prep rank higher than Miss Lucy! :P I think a re-order is necessary.

Hi – I’ve got a silly (stupid?) question – - I intend to buy your book. I’m a long-time sock knitter & love your patterns (have several!). If it is sold by Amazon (as opposed to a brick & morter bookstore), do you get the same $$ from the sale. I’m a bit of a rebel in that I prefer that you get all the residuals that you deserve from your labor. It seems so easy to order from Amazon, but the prices there make me suspicious. Someone’s not gettin’ their share. You? The publisher? I really want to be sure that books are forever available to us (may not be possible – - may be too late in the game for that already). Like I said – probably a silly question……………………
Knit On & Laugh about it !!!

Wendy, I’ve been on and off the Internet the last few months, so I think I missed the discussions about your NEW book – I just saw the Amazon ad today. Congratulations! What’s the new book contain? I’m an avid fan of your first two book, so of course I”m looking forward your newest work.

And I’m grateful I found you, Lucy, and Socks From the Toe-Up and next year, I’ll be grateful for Toe-up Socks for Everybody!! I am a complusive toe-up sock knitter because of you…Happy Thanksgiving.
