What a Difference a Year Makes

I was digging through my archives last night (looking for a recipe I posted last December) and I came across a photo of my hair I posted shortly after I started using henna on it. December 14 of last year:

And here is a picture of it today.

I’d no idea it had grown so much — even having had 2 haircuts in the last year.

What a Difference a Day Makes

Yesterday it was raining and miserable.

The sky this morning:

There appears to be something flying through the sky there. I wonder what it was? Not a plane or helicopter — this is a no-fly zone.

Droid Question

In the comments Lisa asked:

About the Droid…how are you finding the battery life? I would really like to get one, but that is the one thing holding me back. I keep hearing that the battery dies really quickly and has to be recharged a lot. What do you think?

The answer, like so many things in life is . . . it depends.

It depends, of course, on usage.

If you have gps and wifi turned on and a bunch of apps running, your battery is going to drain more quickly than if you don’t. I keep gps and wifi turned off because I don’t use it all the time. There are apps you can get that put a switch on the Droid desktop to enable you to quickly turn off gps, wifi, etc.

I don’t spend all day on my phone. A typical day for me includes a few calls, a bit of websurfing and news checking, email checks a couple of day. At the end of the day I have 90% battery power.

It’s All Over Except the Bind-off

And binding off I am. Or I will be momentarily.

  1. Your hair is long and the color is fabulous! Any chance we will be able to purchase the pattern for the shawlette? Also, I am interested to know what that was in the sky. If you ever find out, let us know. Looks like a bird. But, it can’t be, right?

  2. That’s such a cute photo of Lucy!

  3. About battery life:

We are at this weird point where lots of people have smartphones but very few people have had extensive experience with many different smartphones. This means that it’s very difficult to determine, just from asking your buddies, which features of your smartphone are particular to your smartphone and which are common to all smartphones. But short battery life seems to be universal. So, I think that it’s pretty much the case with any smartphone that if you use it heavily and leave things like wifi and gps on, the battery runs out pretty fast, like in less than a day.

  9. My parents went to India last year and bought Henna dye. They have never used it before and decided to try it out. My dad (62 years old) has never allowed my mom to dye his hair (he likes the grey!) finally gave in….. since this was their first time, I don’t think they made it concentrated enough… his hair turned out ORANGE! bright ORANGE!! it was the funniest thing I have ever seen!! It was perfect for Halloween.. but he wore a hat at all times!

  13. I wish I could only have 2 hair cuts in a year, but I’ve got short pixie cut hair which requires heavy maintenance (in cutting, almost nothing in the wearing).

  14. My own haircut schedule is once every five weeks (in case you were wondering – ha!). Love the color – very warm and auburn-y.

I think the weather these days is just about perfect (except for yesterday). I haven’t even broken out the winter coat yet!

  15. I also find that if I get my facebook comments from lots of people and all my twitter remarks…my battery just drains quickly…like every other day I have to charge…I don’t have a droid but hey a girl has to have a dream….

  16. Yay for henna! I’ve been a henna-head for about a year and a half now, and I’ll never go back to regular hair dye! :)

  17. One of the best things about having my blog is being able to look back and relive what I was doing a year or two ago. It’s funny how things, like hair length, can just creep up on you!

I’m not showing my cat Lucy the pic of your Lucy and her sheepskin. It will give her ideas and she will want one for christmas. Then her little brother will want one, too. Then they will definitely be living better than me, and we can’t have that!
