Current Knitting

I haven’t talked much about what I’m working on at the moment. I started another lace shawl, then decided I didn’t like how it was looking, and ripped it out and started over. Here is what it is looking like now:

WIP021610 240x160 Guess My Favorite Color

This is Wollmeise 100% merino sock yarn in the Herzblut colorway. I finally got around to putting “herzblut” into the Google online translator and discovered it means “Lifeblood.” I figured it was blood of some sort . . .

I’m using a U.S. size 4 needle for this. After ripping out the all-over lace pattern I started, I went back and started with stockinette in a more-than-a-triangle shape, and am now doing a lacy edging on that. I think I’ll like this much better.

I got this toy for my birthday. I’m not exactly sure what to do with it, but it has catnip in it!

Comments

  1. Wendy,

It was great to meet you yesterday and talk knitting and kitties, not necessarily in that order. I showed Lucy’s magnet to Kaos, and he is in love!

  2. I think the literal translation of “Herzblut” is heartblood, which really only makes sense as lifeblood in English. It doesn’t stop me from thinking of it as heartblood every time I see the word!

  3. I would say that you lean towards green. It is a great color for us redheads!

  4. My cat Murphy has the same toy and he loves it! He will pick the whole thing up in his mouth and shake it until it is dead…then he backs up a little and pounces! It has held up well to his teeth and nails :-)

  5. Pink? Seriously, those greens are rather nice. Can’t say which is my favorite; I like them all.

  6. I think your favorite color is Purple ;-)

  7. Well, green is the most beautiful color in the rainbow :)

  8. Lynda Hitt says:

Ummmmmmmm……I’m guessing you like PINK. Or maybe I’m color blind and your favorite color is really green. I went an dlooked at the stuff that I had in my cart at the loopy ewe and saw that I had four skeins of yarn that were either green or teal and green.

  9. fresh catnip is always good!

congrats to the winners! (ah bummer, i wasn’t one of them!)
    .-= turtle´s last blog ..Awe! =-.

  10. I just got one of those for my cats! One of my male kitties adores it – he likes big kick toys that he can scratch the bejeebers out of.

Love those greens! We have lots of Spring weather here in the Seattle area that go with green (it’s weird to hear so many lawnmowers in the evening in the middle of FEBRUARY!!).

  11. Yay for the winners!

Lucy is clever, she’ll figure it out, just beware of black fuzz in the LifeBlood.

  12. Love all those greens! They’re beautiful.

Lucy looks like she’s having a grand time with her new toy. :)

  13. Green is my favorite color too! Love your selection.

  14. Oh wahat pretty colours. I am feeling some softer Springs colours are needed in my stash. Can’t wait to see the shawl finished. Just enjoy the ‘nip Lucy!!

  15. Yeah for the book! Thank you so much. And the yarns are gorgeous – love the greens.

  16. I always am in awe when I see different hues of the same basic color. Those are gorgeous. Are you just re-stocking or will you use any of them in some combination? I am still learning (and probably always will be) how to put colors, shades, hues together.

  17. Hope Miss Lucy enjoys her toy! We got one for our furkids, but it seems to be too big. I found a much smaller one and that one they enjoy.

  18. Thanks so much for being so gracious, especially when I swooped back in for a photo op. Lovely to meet you. The yarn is so pretty too!

  19. Beautiful greens! I lean toward blues, but your picture makes me want to go and get some green. And I always look forward to seeing what Lucy is up to everyday! My cats would be so jealous if they knew of her notoriety!

  20. Linda Huson says:

My cat also has that toy – she loves to just lay on it.

Linda in Northern Virginia (my husband and I shovelled and shovelled after the big snows we just got) – well, he shovelled more than me – LOL!

  21. OH MY, are you a May baby too? The greens are making me want to shop more!

  22. Looks like you had a good day at Fibre Space. Are you preparing for St. Patrick’s Day or longing for the green, green grass of spring?

  23. For some reason, I’ve really been into the greens lately. Those are lovely.

  25. You make me want a cat but then I’d have to get rid of the husband (he’s allergic). It’s a tough choice…but since I’m a SAHM and the husband pays the bills, I guess I’m going to have to stick with him. :)

The yarn (and shawl) are gorgeous! I have to say I am officially addicted to knitting shawlettes.

  26. REALLY love the colors of your new yarn! Recently brought home paint color cards in those same colorways. I call them watery greens and blues. So calming.

  27. I LOVE the look of the red lace! I can’t wait for the pattern. :-)
Oh..and by the way, where I am it’s 76 and gorgeous. Enjoy your snow!

  28. LOVE those colors. I really need to take a field trip over to fibre space!

  29. Love the Spring Lettuce color!

  30. Wendy- Lovely greens, I think you may be longing for spring.

Lucy- it appears to be a square tiger with a weird tail.

  31. Pam from Kansas says:

Green will look good on you. Happy birthday to Lucy a day late.

  32. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I’d like just mix that pile of yarn into a salad and EAT it. Delicious!

  33. Purple.

There is something about the color green. It too happens to be my favorite, I think because it is one of the grandest colors in nature.
