Choices

I have finally received the buttons I ordered for my Victoria cardigan.

I ordered two sets of buttons. Which one do you like better?

Celtic buttons?

Or little sheep?

I think I have already made my choice, but I’m interested to hear what you all think too.

Contrary to what a lot of you seemed to think (judging from the comments) I did not post a picture of a big cinnamon bun in yesterday’s blog post. (I looked at it and looked at it, but I just don’t “get” cinnamon bun from the photo.)

Here is the state of the pi shawl now.

Like most lace projects, it doesn’t look like much while it is on the needles — just a rumpled rag. But I have faith that when it emerges from the needles, it will be very pretty. As I mentioned, this is a very easy pattern, so a nice choice for a lace beginner. It’s a big project, so if you are an immediate gratification kind of knitter, it may not be for you. But if you don’t mind putting in some time and effort, you will be amply rewarded for it.

Anyhow, that’s all I’ve got. But tune in tomorrow for a giveaway!

If Lucy wasn’t so sleepy, she’d be jumping up and down in excitement.

Comments

  1. I like them both but I think the celtic one looks the best

  2. Celtic buttons ๐Ÿ™‚

Cinnamon bun? Wollmeise is high in fiber, lol

  3. Both buttons are cool but if I could pick one for a sweater I would go with the sheep. A little fun and besides you then know not too many people would choose it.

  4. Nancy FP in Ferndale says:

I like the Celtic buttons best.

  5. Susan (LotusHips) says:

    Definitely Celtic!

  6. Celtic buttons. But that’s just me.
    .-= DPUTiger´s last blog ..Hoo-ray for Vay-cay! =-.

  7. One more for the sheepie button(s)!
The Celtic buttons look more dressy. I think it depends on your perspective and where you’ll be wearing this, but the yarn doesn’t look that dressy to me.
    JMHO, of course.

  8. I personally like the celtic ones better, but the sheep ones are cute. Go for the celtic for sophistication and the sheep if you are looking to have some fun with the sweater.
.-= Lynda´s last blog ..I was doing so well =-.

  9. I vote for the Celtic buttons.

  10. You could mix them

  11. Celestine says:

I like both buttons however I like the Celtic the best. I can not wait to see what you choose.

  12. GoldfishWanda says:

Celtic. Sheeps is nice, but their real-world context detract from the geometric gestalt of the sweater plus buttons.

  13. Love the sheep but I think Celtic buttons work better with this sweater.
.-= MicheleinMaine´s last blog ..Fireflies Mini Bag =-.

  14. Go for the celtic

  15. Both of those buttons are good choices. I’m drawn to the sheep button the most so I’ll say sheep.

  16. linda-kay says:

Celtic! Love the lace! Looked at the pattern, would love to knit it, but would have to add on to my house to block it!

  17. The Celtic ones and what is wrong with a homemade cinnamon bun warm from the oven???

  18. I think the Celtic buttons look the best.

  19. anne marie in philly says:

celtic buttons…and yes, cinnamon buns hold the raisins…all we need now is that white icing like cinnabon has…

  20. Another vote for Celtic. They seem classic. The sheep belong on a more whimsical project.

  21. No doubt. Celtic!

  22. SHEEP! Did someone say “GIVEAWAY”?????????? (Hopes it’s wool in nature!) โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ

at first glance, I thought that PI Shawl *was* a cinnamon bun….it’ looks yummy!

  23. I love the sheep buttons, but I have to say that I think the style of the sweater is more classic, so I think I might have to say the Celtic ones. Although it would be fun to do the sheep. Sorry, not much help I guess.

And I can kind of see the cinnamon bun – given the angle the photo was taken at, you get a bit of a swirl effect like a classic cinnamon bun. Pre-iced of course.

  24. I vote for the Celtic buttons.

  25. imjustlori says:

    Celtic!

And I agree–it didn’t look like a cinnamon bun. There was no icing on it.

  26. Love the celtics! BUT, I like the sheep for a different look ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Linda

  27. Celtic.

  28. I like the sheep buttons the best, but think the celtic buttons look best with the strong vertical line of the rib.

  29. I love the colors in the shawl, it’s gorgeous. The sheep buttons of course!

  30. Sheep!

  31. Celaine Killingsworth says:

    Celtic!

  32. When I read the preview in my feed reader, I had already decided even before seeing the buttons, Celtic. But, after I clicked and looked at both choices, I’m not so sure. The sheep buttons are pretty classy and not at all what my mind’s eye pictured. Either choice will look great.

  33. Amanda Helstrom says:

If you’re going for something dressy, I’d go with the Celtic. If you’re going for something more whimsy filled, I’d use the sheep. Either way, the sweater and the buttons are gorgeous.

I have great envy for your wollmeise lace.

  34. celtic

  35. Normally I would love anything with a sheep pattern, but in this case I think the Celtic buttons suit the more tailored look of the sweater. Either way, it’s a great sweater.

  36. The celtic one.

  47. Dr. Jackie says:

Just comparing the two buttons, I definitely like the celtic ones best. But I like everything celtic. That said, I think the little sheep would look nice on this particular sweater, and perhaps save the celtic ones for a cabled sweater. Or you could just send them to me…

  48. I like the Celtic ones. Both are pretty though!

  49. Celtic

  50. I like the Celtic, but…….it’s your sweater. Hugs to Lucy.

  51. All Celtic except for one lone sheep button. I like living on the edge, being a little crazy.
    .-= Susan´s last blog ..Day 3 of green-with-envy NaBloPoMo =-.

  52. The Sheep buttons are super-cute, but the Celtic buttons would fit better to the low-key color of the cardigan. Save those Sheep buttons for a super-fun bright-green cardi somewhere along the road ๐Ÿ™‚
.-= Malika Watson´s last blog ..SO MUCH YARN!!! =-.

  53. Sheep!

  54. The sheep is adorable, but the celtic buttons look best on the yarn.

  55. Marie Murphy says:

Go for the unexpected – the sheep! They’re fun and playful.

  56. BlondiKnits says:

The celtic buttons are more sophisticated, so if it’s to be a work sweater, I’d go with them. But I love the sheep!

  57. I like both but I think for this project Celtic is the better choice.

  58. I just got back from Ireland, so I have to vote for the Celtic buttons…then again…we sure saw a heck of a lot of sheep there!

  59. I’m with most everyone else on the celtic buttons. The Pi shawl is soooo tempting too, but I really should finish something once in a while.

  62. Sheep!

  64. Celtic buttons!!

  65. Buttons: Sheep

My first quick glance at the pi shawl made me think of a creme brulee!

  66. Ruth Ann says:

For this sweater, I believe the Celtic complements it nicely.

  67. Celtic would be my first choice, but I sure like that lamb – so I don’t think you can go wrong either way!

  68. I vote for the sheep buttons!

  69. Love the sheep buttons, but for this sweater I would go with the Celtic ones. I had earmarked this sweater to knit the first time I saw the pattern. I’ve enjoyed getting to see it knitted up in a different yarn/color option from the original pattern photo.

  70. Rosemary Johnson says:

I LOVE the sheep buttons, but I think the Celtic buttons look nicer on this sweater. Looking forward to the giveaway.

  71. It’s close but I like the Celtic ones better!

  72. diane tetreault says:

I was going to say the celtic, but the sheep are much more unique– nobody else will have a gorgeous sweater like that WITH Sheep buttons!!! Go for it.

  73. Celtic buttons, I think. Can’t wait to see what you decide.

  74. Another vote for the Celtic buttons.

  75. My vote goes to the Celtic. I asked my two Ragdoll cats…their paws hovers over the sheep….baaahhh

  76. Love the celtic for this sweater but I’m drooling over the little sheep

  77. Definitely the Celtic buttons. The sheep are cute, in the abstract, but I like the Celtic ones more.

  78. Like them both very much. I lean toward the Celtic ones. The sheep seem too whimsical for the style…

  79. Celtic — I love sheep but I don’t see this as a picture button sweater.

  80. Celtic!

I vote for the sheep. I love the antique look of those buttons and I think they go with the relaxing in the country feel of the sweater.

  82. I love anything celtic!

  83. The sweater does not say Celtic buttons to me. I would go with the sheep.

  86. martha simpson says:

Beautiful sweater. I would choose the sheep buttons. These buttons are a winner.

  87. I vote for the celtic buttons.

  88. Both buttons are nice but I have to vote for the celtic. They seem to capture the look of the sweater.

  89. While I do love the sheepies, I think the Celtic buttons are just the ticket for this sweater.

  90. I keep looking at the sheep, so that gets my vote!

  91. patricia says:

    I like the sheep.

Now the shawl looks like a cinnamon bun! Yum!

  92. I prefer the Celtic. After you mentioned it I did notice a certain pastry like quality in your shawl.

  93. Anna Housholder says:

I am casting a vote for Celtic buttons, I think they go good with the yarn. Sheep buttons would be okay, but Celtic buttons look better.

  94. Sheep for sure….

  95. Celtic for this sweater but the sheep are verrry Cute !
