My current work in progress:

Moth Cardigan, designed byAmy Christoffers, knit from Rowan SoftYak DK in the Plain colorway, using U.S. size 3 and 5 needles.

Going Sideways

Now that the Wispy Cardi is off the needles, I am devoting myself full-time to the to-be-named sideways shawl.

This was previously my commuter knitting, so it didn’t get any attention over the long weekend. But now I am more than halfway done with it.

WIP090910 240x160 Going Sideways

This baby should be off the needles this weekend.

And look what arrived today.

My upcoming release, Toe-Up Socks in a Box!

I got two early advance copies . . . er . . . boxes.

boxtop090910 240x130 Going Sideways

I’m keeping one, of course, but I’ll give the other one away at random to a commenter. Would you like it? Leave a comment on this post by Sunday, September 12, 2010 at noon Eastern time. I’ll draw a winner then.

Don’t know how to leave a comment? Read this.

Lucy is screaming with excitement.

I could use more patterns. One can never have too many patterns just like yarn.

  8. This would be an excellent way for me to bring you along when I’m knitting and waiting to pick up my daughter at one of her school activities. Give Lucy a belly tickle from her Wisconsin fans (Cookie & Spunky aka my crazy cats).

  20. Hooray for socks in a box! :o)

  21. I admit, I have enjoyed a long and eventful love affair with hating toe up socks. I have resisted right up until last month, when I finally took the plunge. Old dog, new tricks aside, it’s rather nifty to see a sock take shape this way. Now to find some more patterns that catch my eye!

  22. No wonder Lucy is excited, that’s a cool resource.

  23. I’ve never knit toe-up socks but would very much like to do so. Sounds like this “box” would be a great way to learn!

  24. I love that colorway for the shawl. I am not a pink person, but I WANT that yarn so bad!

  25. Ruth in Houston says:

  59. OMG!!! Socks in a box!!! Please random number picker outer…PICK ME! ☺☺☺☺☺☺

  60. I have a perfect home for this!

  61. I would really love the box of sox! I especially love the card idea – easy to tuck it into my knitting bag!! That sideways shawl is especially pretty!!

  62. I really need (!) no, want, more sock patterns.

  63. Rae Hibner says:

Love your blog, Esp Lucy’s comments. Have been stuck on the heels of two different sock projects-one top down the other toe up. Need help !

  64. It’s my turn, please.

  65. I’m glad to see this version of the Toe-up socks come out. I really like the the convenience of the size and durability. I’d be knitting more of your designs if this became part of my knitting library. Thanks for sharing a copy.

  67. Shannon H. says:

Pick me! I need a box of patterns so I’m not stuck always knitting my vanilla toe-ups (even if they look totally killer knit with handspun yarn).

  68. Patterns that come in a box make for easy traveling projects. I fly frequently and knitting socks has become my favorite small project to carry. So far, I copy the pattern onto an index card but now I would have the page ready to slip into my bag.
Great idea! Socks in a box.

  69. Jeanette93 says:

What a great idea! Much of my sock knitting is done while waiting for grandkids to get out of school(2:30-4 pm at three different school) and this would be a much easier way to take a pattern with me than a complete book.

  70. Diane Rizzo says:

Congrats Wendy! Can’t wait to see this lovely item!

  71. Ooohhh! Can’t wait to get my copy. Socks are my take everywhere knitting and to have patterns that are compact are going to be fantastic.

    Keep smiling πŸ™‚
