Winter Knitcircus

The Winter 2010 issue of Knitcircus magazine is live today!

winter cover 185x240 Winter Knitcircus

You may note by looking at the masthead that I’ve been “promoted” — I am now a contributing editor. 😀 In this issue you will find my article: “Make It Fit: Adjusting Stitch Patterns for Sock Design.” I hope you enjoy it.

This looks like a lovely issue — after a quick read-through I can see that there are as usual great articles and reviews and of course a lot of wonderful patterns to knit — many of them great for holiday knitting and giving.

As usual, my lovely and generous editor-in-chief Jaala Spiro has authorized me to give away two one-year subscriptions and ten pattern collections from this issue. Want to win one? Leave a comment on this blog post by noon eastern time on Sunday, November 14 to be entered in the drawing.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the day job is getting in the way of my knitting progress. I tell you, this working for a living nonsense is starting to annoy me. I managed a few rows on the sleeve of the Not-Quite-All-the-Way-So-Much Hawthorn Sweater last night.

Tomorrow is a holiday for us Feds and I have nothing planned for the day, so I’m hoping to spend it relaxing, snuggling with Miss Lucy, and knitting.

    Woot!

  2. I keep toying with the idea of retiring, but that’s about as far as I get, even though my stash is sufficient for a little while of full time knitting.

I didn’t know a pattern would “direct” the knitter to do anything. I figure it’s like most recipes, merely general guidance that you adapt to current preferences (except for baking, where proportions have to be fairly precise and even then I make adjustments).

    Nice article in KnitCircus, BTW.

  3. Great magazine! Sure love to win a subscription. Thank you 🙂

  4. I love the layout of the magazine. A subscription would be awesome 🙂

  15. Cynthia Harris says:

When we lived “back east” I worked for the state, and loved all the extra holidays we don’t get “out west” – Veterans Day, Patriots Day (at least in Boston), Flag Day, Columbus Day, Presidents Day. Have I forgotten any? Have a relaxing day with Miss Lucy!

I do like my job, don’t get me wrong, but I can still EASILY figure out about a zillion things I’d rather do. Like knitting, or knitting. Oh, or knitting :).

  37. So nice to see a non-anorexic on the cover of Knitcircus. I do have a hard time visualizing what many patterns would look like on me, so I appreciate those I can!
