My current work in progress:

A Tale of Two Swatches

Well, it’s really one swatch.

Here it is before washing:

Before112310 240x187 A Tale of Two Swatches

It’s 3.75″ from top to bottom. I washed it using a hot wash/cold rinse and then dried it on the hottest setting in my dryer. Here it is (sorry for the blurry pic):

After112310 240x177 A Tale of Two Swatches

It is now 3.25″ from top to bottom, but the same width. And it is magically transformed from string to nice soft squishy cotton.

Lucy has given up on supervising me.

I am going to have to find some of that yarn and knit something out of it. I loved my cotton sweaters back in the day and would love to have one that just got better with age
Lynda´s last [type] ..I was doing so well

Is this 100% cotton? And it shrunk…. Huh?

  5. Maureen says:

You can definitely see in the pictures that it softened and puffed up some. Interesting yarn.

The sweater will be so pretty! Thanks for all the info on the yarn…I’ve been thinking about making something from denim, but none of my knitting friends had tried it. Although I don’t think I’d start out with that many cables… :-)

  10. Liza says:

A knitting supervisor has moved into our house, he is quite particular that I leave bits of yarn around for him to inspect and that I amuse him by knitting quickly enough to make the yarn dance. Lucky for me, he sleeps on my daughter’s bed, so I do get to do what I want after 8 pm.

You are better than me, cotton makes me nuts.

will the sweater stretch from hanging or fit? Cotton seems to do strange things and wonder if this yarn might exhibit some yet to be found characteristics — please keep us updated, Love the color and the pattern.

I think the problem was the cold rinse after the hot water! I hate when my clothes shrink after washing them.
