My current work in progress:

1. Mighty Mini, designed by Rachel Henry, knit from Socks That Rock Worthy in the "Tanzanite" and "The Green That Sings" colorways on a 3.0 mm needle.
2. Myriad stealth projects.

Calmer Aran Update

I am still calling this the Calmer Aran because I haven’t given any thought to naming the design. Maybe I’ll call it “Serenity Now!” Heh.

Despite a weekend of feeling like something I trod on and subsequently scraped off the bottom of my foot, I did manage to finish the back of this sweater.

If it looks a tad short to you that is because this baby will have a rather wide shoulder strap extending up from the sleeve.

Shameless Self-Promotion

In a frenzy of self-promotion, I would like to point out to you that both Socks From the Toe Up and Toe Up Socks for Every Body are available for pre-order in the Kindle edition. Follow the links on each title. According to their pages on amazon, they will be released on January 19, 2011. I checked the Barnes & Noble and the Sony Reader sites as well, but they are not yet listed there for the Nook or the Sony Reader. But they will be.

Back to Business

It has been colder than usual here for days. My heat is on, and I have even been wearing a hat on my commute. Both signs of the apocalypse being imminent, I believe.

And Miss Lucy is loving basking on the back of the couch under a lamp.

Lucy122110 240x160 Calmer Aran Update

A fun fact about Lucy. She really really hates it when I talk on the phone. During a phone call last night she kept trying to climb up my arm to get to the phone (presumably to kill it). After the call ended, she jumped down, ran over to her fuzzy rat, and beat the crap out of it.

Just because.

Note to myself: must remember to wrap Lucy’s presents.

Comments

  1. Haha – Lucy loves her mama and wants no one else to get the pleasure of speaking with her! That sweater is GORGEOUS.

  2. I thought she just might kill the phone!! LOL She is just the most precious little kitty ever….but don’t tell Okie I said that.
    LOVE the cables!!

And I did pre-order the lace book last night. I can’t wait!!

  3. Has she always hated sharing Mama’s attention? That is too funny.

  4. Your Aran’s back looks great. Another side of Lucy! Funny.

  5. I used to have a cat who would stand on my lap and meow very loudly when I was on the phone, but she never got violent! ;-)

    lucy…bwhahahaha!

my first kitty, sydney, used to press the plunger down when he thought I had talked enough. silly boy! obviously I had (and still have) a land line phone… ;-)

  7. Any mom can tell you thats the way it is with children….I am working on a scarf with cables and loving it…someday I will try a sweater…

  8. Calli my tabico who has epilepsy runs to me and starts talking and being all lovey in my face when ever I am on the phone. It is so funny. As soon as I hang up she jumps down and ignores me. Kitties can be so funny!!!

  9. What a gorgeous project–can’t wait to see it finished.

  10. Perhaps Serendipitous Serenity would describe your new sweater. I could use me some of that. When I’m on the phone, my 130 lb black lab sits on my feet.

  11. Lucy’s antic makes me giggle. Thank goodness for fuzzy rats!

  12. Maybe she wants her own phone?

  13. Odear, R U SURE that fuzzy hat wasn’t Miss Lucy??? Poor thing is so neglected~ HA!♥♥♥

  14. My kitten hates my phone too–but only if it’s on speaker. She will attack the hell out of it if she can get anywhere near it when it’s on. Otherwise, she completely ignores it, even if I’m talking.

  15. I am absolutely shocked Wendy has the heat on…we should all be verrrry afraid of what this foretells!

  16. I’m hoping to get a kindle for Christmas. Your books will be among the first I purchase. BTW my Border Collie thinks phone time is Frisbee time. If I don’t throw he gets the Frisbee and chews on it making chalkboard screeching chewing squeek sounds.

  17. Thanks for the Seinfeld reference!

And I’m excited about downloading your new book for my Kindle. Perfect for traveling!

  18. Haha, Lucy is just like my daughter. She’s nearly 10 and somehow still finds lots to say to me the minute I get on the phone.

On a related note, I have one cat who comes and slaps my hair dryer while I’m operating it, presumably to let it know who’s boss. Which is evidently not me.

  19. Was it a least a self knitted hat?

  20. Lucy,
How do you feel about instrument playing? My cat Bailey HATED when I played the recorder. She would drag the songbook away or would sit next to me and bat the instrument to stop the “noise”. Come to think of it, she didn’t like it if I read out loud either.

  21. GO LUCY!

  22. My dog did a similar thing this summer when I was trying to mow the lawn. It was like the mower was enemy number 1. I actually had to put him back inside the house to do the yard work.
Seanna Lea´s last blog post ..Congratulations!

  23. Off-topic – Wendy, when I use the search box, all I get it much older stuff? I was looking for the name of that shampoo you mentioned (on here, I think).

  24. My old cocker would sneak up the stairs (where he wasn’t supposed to go!) when I was on the phone in the kitchen. Guess he thought I wouldn’t see him even though I was right in front of the staircase!

  25. Why don’t you just abbreviate Calmer Aran to Calm Aran? I think that’s a great name for a sweater. Or call it Calmarran and pretend it’s a real place in Scotland… Nobody will ever know…

  26. The sweater is gorgeous! I am still amazed at how fast you knit! Although, I did alright myself today – a scarf that grew from 99 stitches to 785 – all I need to do is bind off. That was after I finished a headband and not being able to knit after 5:30 pm due to darkness (we were in the car). I do my best knitting riding in the car as my husband drives.

Lucy is such a sweetie !! Tessa (a Meezer who it took 4 months to be able to touch ) is now sleeping all the way under the covers with me. ( must add that I’m sure she’ll never allow anyone else to get close – but she, now, trusts me – thank goodness !! ) Anyway, don’t they just make it all wonderful !! Just Love sitting with Tessa and knitting …. it’s the best !!

You do such wonderful knitting the cables/aran looks perfect and gorgeous. I’m so glad that your books are on Kindle and I hope all knit designers decide to go that way. I would rather buy them on Kindle then waste all the paper, trees, bulk of carrying all those books around etc. I love Lucy and her cute little personality.

  29. Adrienne S. says:

Good for Lucy redirecting her aggression onto the fuzzy rat. ;)

    I am loving that sweater!!

  30. Merry Christmas!
