Crochet Accessories

I was recently sent a review copy of a crochet magazine that is part of the Go Crafty! series from Soho Publishing. It’s called Crochet Accessories.

Magazine061511 204x240 Crochet Accessories

Those of you who know me know that my crocheting is pretty much limited to chain stitches for provisional cast-ons and the occasional simple edgings.

The magazine has 14 crochet patterns, as shown in the Table of Contents:

Contents061511 193x240 Crochet Accessories

They look really cute, but as I said, crochet is not my bag. (Do people still say “not my bag” or am I dating myself really badly?)

Would one of you multi-craftual peeps who can crochet more than a chain stitch like my copy?

If you would like to be entered in the drawing to receive this magazine, please leave a comment to this post telling me so, by 4pm EDT on Tuesday, June 21. The Random Number Generator will pick a winner at that time.

In other news . . .

I am finishing up a stealth design, so I have not yet started my Camp Loopy project, but I plan to do so this weekend.

Speaking of designs, over in my Ravelry Group, in a thread for Tracy’s Shawl, there was a suggestion of an “unofficial knit-along.” So if you were thinking of starting your own, there’s a place to hang out with other Tracy’s Shawl knitters.

And look what I got in the mail yesterday . . .

Book061611 240x179 Crochet Accessories

An advance copy of my new book! I might have made the condo manager look through it with me when I collected it from the condo office, where all packages are delivered. icon wink Crochet Accessories

Lucy is hoping that part of the “finishing up a stealth design” involves blocking.

  3. Darlene says:

Please, please, I need some new idea’s. Sometimes I get tired of knitting, gasp, and just want to crochet, like now. Scarves and cowls for Warm Up Medina County.

  4. Darlene says:

I want, I want, I want. Please please please.Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

  5. I started crocheting a long time before I learned to knit. My aunt, who is a lefty, and me very right handed sat across from me, I have been crocheting for over 30 years now. I taught myself to knit a few years ago. I love them both.

  6. I would like to be in the drawing for the crochet book – good heavens, that is definitely poor English – sorry, it’s Friday and my brain and body are tired – finished the day planting 31 plants on a very hot day. It is a long time since I did any crochet so maybe it is time to do it again. Have a good weekend.

  7. RustyBird says:

It’s been a while since I’ve done any crochet, so it would be nice to have a magazine of new designs – count me in.

I think it’s groovy that you like to use the phrase “not my bag”.

  8. Oh my gosh, your book looks so beautiful!

  9. i’d love the crochet book!

  10. Thanks for offering the crochet accessories book, which I hope to win for my young niece, who crochets for her classmates. Also, I have pre-ordered your lace book and eagerly await arrival from amazon.

  12. I just started hooking again after a few yrs hiatis, I’d love a chance for the mag!

  15. Esme F. says:

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for using up the leftovers from lace projects?

  16. Tattingranny says:

Wendy! Thank you so much for the Summer Shawl…I had some difficulty getting it started, but it has really inspired me to do more lace work. It is turning out beautiful. I would like the crochet book if by chance my name is drawn. Thanks in advance.

  17. I am a crocheter from way back. I have many fewer pattern books for crochet. So I would love to have a nice one.

  18. Belinda Silver says:

I just taught my six year old daughter to crochet. She made a chain stitch scarf for her Barbie doll. I would love to share more crochet ideas with her.

  19. I’d love to win the crochet magazine! I’m a knitter, but just taught myself crocheting to make granny squares for a throw for my Aunt! More patterns and techniques would be a good bridge to doing both knitting AND crocheting!

  20. Debra Simon says:

I love the designs and would love to have this magazine. I’ve been crocheting for almost 50 years, but have been knitting more lately.

  21. The crochet book looks great!

  22. Louise in Maryland says:

Sure, I would love to win the crochet book. Although folks think of me as a knitter, I crochet and prefer it for some things. I’m old enough that I find it perfectly normal that someone does both, I’m amused by (mostly) much younger people who seem to feel there’s some sort of competition and one has to choose a craft to be loyal to. Yep, I’m dating myself, too. As far as I know, people still say something is or is not their bag, but that might be because I hang around old decrepit aging hipsters like myself.

  23. NANCY WENBERG says:

Would love a copy of the crochet accessories book. I like to crochet as much as knit them. I am looking forward to ordering you new lace book as soon as it comes out (I may preorder).

  24. I learned to crochet first and although I knit more nowadays, I like to keep up my crochet skills and this looks like a fun set of patterns. Thanks for the chance to win!

  25. I would so LOVE to have a copy of this!!!!

  27. I would love a copy of the crochet publication, as I recently had a “crochet breakthrough” where crochet FINALLY made sense!

That said, I’m also excited about your new book coming out. Your book on toe-up socks is what finally made me have a “Sock Breakthrough” and now I’m winging along, knitting socks like they’re going out of style. So thank you. :)

  28. Annette says:

I love to crochet and knit!

  29. I would love your copy – I’ve been crocheting for much longer than I’ve been knitting. I crocheted some mitts from last year’s edition of that mag.

  40. Judy H. says:

I can crochet, and I’m looking forward to seeing your new book.

  41. Lee Ann says:

I would love to be the winner of this crochet magazine. I remember when I was about 9 years of age and still living in Los Angeles, CA. My cousins were visting from the valley, along with my aunt and grandmother. Apparently we were causing all kinds of havoc, so my grandmother sat us all down with a crochet hook/yarn and proceeded to teach us how to crochet. I do believe it worked its magic and to this day I have my grandmother to thank for that day. Still crocheting and knitting since I was in 3rd grade.

  42. The crochet book looks lovely, Wendy. Hope you choose me!

  43. DebbieD says:

I would like to be entered for the drawing… I have been crocheting since I was 8 years old but now have knitted some more but would love to have the book… Always looking for new patterns!

  44. Hi Wendy,
Please enter me to win the Crochet Mag. I enjoy crochet and knitting. Also, that scarf on the cover of your new book looks luscious! I will look for it next time I’m at BandN.
