Here is the state of my Wingspan Scarf as of this morning, spread out as much as possible on my desk at work:
I am on the 16th triangle and am thinking about how many more triangles I can make. I have this much of the skein left:
Before I started the 16th triangle, I weighed the skein. It weighs 29 grams. This yarn comes in a 150-gram skein, so the first 15 triangles took 121 grams of yarn, or just over 8 grams each.
After completing the triangles, I need to work 4 rows along the long edge and then bind off. That long edge will be over 200 stitches, because each triangle contributes 13 stitches to the edge.
A variable — I did not weigh my skein before I started knitting. It may have weighed slightly more or less than 150 grams.
So what I think I will do is work a total of 17 triangles then work the long edge.
I did purchase a second skein of Zauberball Starke 6 in this colorway, but I think I’ll be very happy with the length of the scarf worked with one skein.
Would anyone like my second skein to knit their own Wingspan?

My momma forgot to post my picture in Tuesday’s blog entry! She has been really busy at work and it’s made her forgetful. Or maybe her problem is old age.

Lucy’s back!
Please enter me in the contest!
I didn’t like the project pic on Ravelry, but I’m inspired and very much like yours. Would love the extra skein.
Oh, my! I do love that green, and have been admiring Wingspan of late, and yours in particular, Wendy! Thanks for the chance to win.
Green and black; my favorite combination! Perfect for a Wingspan…..
Such an interesting pattern! I love scarves that are different from the usual boring loooong rectangle

Your wingspan is pretty. If I win, we could be twins or something…
It’s beautiful!
The pattern and yarn are both very pretty. I ran out and spent the last of the Christmas money on Zauberball after your last posting – but not on this lovely green. Please enter my name for a chance to knit with this skein.
The yarn is beautiful and I would love to knit something wonderful with it. Thank you for your description of how to to SSK! It is so much easier and looks wonderful.
So I went right on line and downloaded the pattern for Wingspan – so many patterns, so little time, how will I ever do it all? Lovely green by the way.
Your scarf is beautiful. Zauberball is very nice. I have a skein in pinks that I’ve been saving for the right sock pattern.
Thanks, Wendy,
Kathleen
Nice scarf! It’s just my mum’s color.
Since I’ve used only Zauberball Crazy I’d love to try the Starke 6. Thanks for your generosity
Wingspan looks like an interesting project. I’ve not completed complex shawls so this would be great to try.
Signatures are by far my fav. I have three so far and saving for my next purchase and YES, I did vote for Sigs.

Thanks for the reminder on the About.com Knitting Readers’ Choice Awards. Gotta vote!
Isn’t it fun to knit the Wingspan? And yours is so pretty, too. Glad to see Lucy today, too.
Yes, Lucy, I noticed your picture was missing from Tuesday’s blog post but I’m glad to see you are back to normal! I quickly printed out the two shawl patterns and found a yarn in my stash to make the Infinitude Scarf (it is almost finished) but when I went shopping for something for the Wingspan in the woefully lacking town in I live in today-NOTHING!!! I almost flipped when I saw the chance to make a Wingspan like yours! Please Mr Random Generator–show me some love!!!
I am on my third Infinitude or some variant thereof, love that pattern! I would love to try wingspan in that colorway, thanks for offering the skein!
Count me in. I need some yarn for my summer knitting projects.
That is going to be a beautiful scarf, I love the greens!

Thanks for another chance to win something fabulous! I can feel little wings beginning to sprout in an appropriate spring color.
Isn’t Lucy old enough to post her own pictures now? I think she is. Also, that scarf is really coming along well, and this is from someone who doesn’t wear scarves.

Oh Wendy, green is my very favorite color! Guess it’s my green eyes.
PS: just started a wingspan of my own with some lovely homespun my cousin made me for Christmas. A big gift from her. She usually makes big bulky yarns, so for her to spin me some lightweight stuff was an act of pure love.
I have never knit with zauberball before and that colorway is gorgeous! Thank you for the giveaway!
Always wanted to try Zauberball–though I keep wanting to say Zaurball.

I was looking at this pattern and this color last week for a project – please pick me!! Thank you for your generosity in all your giveaways – your adoring fans appreciate it!
I was quite surprised to see no Lucy photo on your last entry. Nice to know she is back to her regular modeling job now.
Ooh, I’d love the yarn.
The wingspan scarf is so beautiful; I’d love to make it! Lucy must have been perturbed about being left out of the last post to say something like that – her momma isn ‘t old at all!
Such an enabler, you are! I now have the pattern in my library. How sweet it would be to have your matching yarn.
I have the Wingspan scarf on my list of things to knit, and the yarn is lovely. Thanks for the chance to win!
Wingspanning looks great; the Zauberball looks fantastic in this pattern. Thank you for offering up your second skein. You are incredibly generous!
I ran into trouble, once, when I forgot to weigh my yarn before starting. The weight differed quite a bit from the weight printed on the ball band. Hope you don’t run into the same problem.

Love the wingspan scarf and love the Zauerball yarn. Glad to see a picture of Lucy too. Missed her.
This pattern caught my eye earlier this week. I friend of mine is making it in a different color in the same yarn you are using. I had thought to make mine in a blue color way, but Green would be wonderful if I am the lucky person who receives your gift.
What an amazing colour!
Gosh, didn’t realise it was so easy to comment!!!!
Love your scarf. Yes, I’d love a chance to win that yarn, too.
Pretty yarn!

Yes please! The colors are perfect!
I’d love to win the yarn. I’ve just finished a Wingspan as a present for my mother and it’s a real wrench to send it voff for her birthday. Having one just for me on the needles would ease the pain of separation!
I love that yarn! Would love a chance to win it.
Wingspan is now in my queue – all I need is the yarn
The green Zauberball yarn is my fav colour and I’m looking at the Wingspan pattern. Hope to win this yarn!!
