As I write this post, 1180 of you have purchased the pattern for the Summer Solstice Mystery Shawl KAL! Wow! This is very exciting, and I think we are going to have a lot of fun.
I’ve already knit the shawl, of course, but I am planning to knit it again with the KAL. It crossed my mind to knit it in Kauni Effektgarn, so last week I went in to the stash room to pick a colorway. I actually ended up selecting a skein of Aade Lõng Artistic 8/2 which is pretty much identical to Kauni. I chose a blue colorway (there’s no color name or number on the label) and wound it up into a ball:
This is a pretty large skein, so I am going to size up the shawl a bit. The pattern will contain instructions for doing so for anyone else who wants to make a bigger shawl.
Because we still have a fair amount of time before we actually start knitting the Mystery Shawl, I thought it would be fun to have a couple of contests/giveaways. Some of you have been posting photos of the yarn you are thinking of using for the KAL. I have a thread in my Ravelry group devoted to yarn for the KAL. If you have already posted a photo there, you are entered in this week’s contest. The rest of you, please feel free to post photos of yarn you are thinking about using or have decided upon. I’ll go through every day and pick a couple of you at random to receive a free WendyKnits pattern. I’ll pm the winners in Ravelry and ask you to chose a pattern from my Ravelry store.
This contest will run through Saturday, June 9. I’ll announce another contest next Sunday.
Meanwhile, in current knitting . . .
Here is my Camp Loopy project, Gyllis:
It took a little over three skeins on Three Irish Girls Cashmerino Worsted in the Niall colorway.
And here is what I’ve been working on this weekend:
My sideways shawl knit from Tempted Yarns Luxe Grrl yarn.
I’m a bit more than halfway done.
