I have finished the body of the denim jacket. Here is the back:
Here is the front:
And here is a closeup of the front:
I am about to start a sleeve. The body of this piece is 48″ long (before shrinking) so the sleeves will, in comparison, seem like a breeze. This design has dropped shoulders, and without shrinking, I need the sleeves to be 18″, so allowing for approximately 20% shrinkage, I will knit to 22″ for each sleeve.
We had a big storm blow through yesterday, bringing in some cooler weather. Yay! For the first time in a long time, I had the sunroof on my car open.
And Lucy is settling down for a nap.

Jacket? Whew, at this point it looks more like a full length sleeveless bathrobe. Gorgeous knitting, as usual. I bet you will wear it to death.

The cables are so pretty! Looks like you and Lucy are preparing for cozy times.
Very nice, the color is lovely.
This is a spectacular piece of knitting. Words are inadequate. I wish you much enjoyment when you wear this denim jacket (coat?).
Simply GORGEOUS!
That is so pretty. You made something out of this denim a year or so ago I think? It’s very nice.
It is so lovely. But I must ask…just how fast do you knit? You seem to be able knit things so quickly. Is there something you can share about that? Again, It is lovely
Beautiful!
Looks good, can’t wait to see it on!
WOW now thats some knitting. Isn`t going to be more of a coat than a jacket, just wondering
Beautiful!

Epic Jacket! With how big the fronts are compared to the sleeves, the sleeves should take no time to knit.

i can’t believe how much knitting you can get done! is it even possible to see your hands moving while knitting??
Even knowing it is going to shrink, it looks like it will end up huge! I’m looking forward to seeing the planning and the match coming together to an actual finished product!

It’s going to be very interesting to see how clear all that beautiful detail is going to be after the shrinking process. I think it’s going to be a beautifully warm jacket for the fall and spring. I surely do wish I could knit as fast as you seem able.
Wow; beautiful work. I am looking forward to the finish coat.
I know you say you expect 20% shrinkage but will this be permanent or will the denim stretch a but like jeans do until they are washed again?
Was there a dye lot change or are my eyes playing tricks on me with the first picture?
