  1. Lynne in Florida says:

Love the icon for the summer mystery knit! I know it isn’t Lucy, but it’s an adorable kitten nonetheless. I’ll be buying my pattern on the 31st, and will, I’m sure, enjoy knitting this one as much as last year’s Solstice mystery, which, I’m ashamed to confess, is still not blocked!

  2. I bought the pattern this morning when I noticed the new thread in your Ravelry group. I had originally thought to knit it from a ball of Regia Hand-Dye Effects I bought back in 2010, until I remembered I gifted that yarn to my mother last year when she complained of running low on sock yarn.

I ended up choosing a ball of Kauni in color EZ (light to medium blue plus aqua to teal) which one of my LYS’s happened to have in stock. I decided against the rainbow since I already knit your Double Fun Scarf in that color AND I have two more balls of Kauni rainbow destined to be a doubleknit scarf.

I can hardly wait to start. I had a lot of fun with last summer’s MKAL shawlette (wear it often and get a lot of compliments), so I am excited to see what you have in store for us this time.

  4. Wendy, perfect timing!! I was getting ready to send you a note asking for recommendation for one of your shawlettes for the June Camp Loopy challenge for Mimi Maidien yarn. i have 500m and the project has to be a one skein projecct – lace or fingering. I started reading your blog this morning and perfect, my answer is there! I just ordered the mystery shawl pattern. Thank you!!

I’m getting to ready to go on vacation and will be flying on the first of June, prime knitting time and the first day of the challege. Gotta be prepared :>

Gauge for the Mini Maidenn yarn is 26 stiches to 4 inches, – is that enough of a change to move from a small to a medium? I have 500m of yarn and that’s it!

    The pleasures of summer knitting!

  5. Wendy, I want to thank you for keeping the price of your patterns
reasonably priced. I love the way you write patterns, always
    using simple explanations. :)

  6. Just bought it – so excited to do this for the third year in a row for me. You inspire me to try trickier things – my shawl knitting knowledge has increased so much since the first one I completed – thanks for doing this!

  7. You know, I’ve never been very successful with this mystery knit alongs, or KALs in general. Yet, I am SO woed and wowed by your summer shawl graphic, I’m going to have to try and give it ago. Seriously, I love that image. You made my day, and hopefully, I’ll be able to make your shawl as well! :)

  8. Susan (sjanova) says:

I knit the 2011 summer shawl and loved it. I have the 2012 summer shawl but didn’t get it knit (yet). And I will, I promise myself, knit one this summer. Either the 2012 shawl or this new one. Now to find yarn…… Thank you so much for sharing your patterns!

  9. Catherine S. says:

@Lynne in FL: it sure as heck is Lucy! I’d know that gorgeous puss anywhere! xoxo

  10. Actually, I changed the image for the KAL — the first one I posted was of a Ragdoll kitten, but my graphic artist finished the one I commissioned specifically for the KAL today, so I replaced it. The current one is indeed Lucy.

So Lynne and Catherine are both right! :-)

  11. So happy to be joining you in the 2013 KAL and the logo takes me back to my college days :)

And to absolutely complete the mystery, I will be knitting this in a perfectly beautiful semi-solid lace weight from my stash that is, well a mystery, since the label is gone! It is a lovely light purple color and I’m going to swatch over the holiday weekend.

  12. Awesome this is great!

Wendy, I tried to purchase your mystery pattern, but my paypal account will not work, I have been trying to solve the problem, but gave up. Tried to use my credit card, but still being processed by paypal kicked it out again. Can I send you a check?
