My current work in progress:

Veronika Cardigan, designed by Shannon Cook, knit from YOTH Daughter in the Black Truffle colorway, using U.S. size 8 needles.

It’s Quick, Baby!

I have here the latest in the “60 Quick Knit” series of books from Sixth&Spring books:

Book041215 217x240 Its Quick, Baby!

This is 60 Quick Knit Baby Essentials which was just released. All of the patterns in this collection are made using Cascade’s Cherub acrylic yarn. The Cherub yarn comes in a number of different weights — from chunky down to sport.

And as the name suggests, the book contains 60 patterns. They are all nicely catalogued on Ravelry, here. If you browse through them, you’ll see that there is a little bit of everything for babies and toddlers.

I have to say, there are some extremely cute patterns in this collection! Take a look at the Hugs & Hearts Onesie by Linda Cyr.

HugsHearts041215 213x240 Its Quick, Baby!

Adorable! It’s knit from DK weight yarn and available in 4 sizes.

And look at this!

Mouse041215 213x240 Its Quick, Baby!

Mouse-mobile toy by Megan Kreiner.

And I love this:

Kitty041215 214x240 Its Quick, Baby!

Kitty-Cat Pullover by Pat Olski. Minimalist and adorable!

The book has a really great assortment of projects — a great value and a great resource for a mom or grandmother. Or for anyone who wants to knit for wee ones.

Meanwhile, I have finished the body of Ropewalk!

WIP041215 175x240 Its Quick, Baby!

I did a crew neck rather than a turtleneck and I now have sleeve number one on the needles. But sleeve knitting has been put on hold for the weekend as I work on Clue #2 of the Outlander MKAL.

And Loki is as adorable as always.

Hoppy Easter

First things first, the winner of my review copy of Wanderlust: 46 Modern Knits for Bohemia Style by Tanis Gray is Vicki K., who has been emailed.

Very little work has been done on Ropewalk over the past week because I keep doing things like this:

Flora040515 208x240 Hoppy Easter

This is Flora. She has gone to live with my friend who is undergoing chemo. She was knit from the adorable pattern by Julie Williams. Her bunny dress was knit from the basic dress pattern included with the bunny girl pattern, and I inserted my own bunny chart. It’s bunny overload!

And then I spent the weekend working on the Outlander MKAL. No photo, because it’s a mystery and I don’t want to post any spoilers!

Lastly, here is my own not-so-little Easter bunny:

“Who are you calling a bunny?!”

He doesn’t really fit in my lap anymore!

Wanderlust

I have another cool book to review:

Wanderlust040115 199x240 Wanderlust

This is Wanderlust: 46 Modern Knits for Bohemia Style by Tanis Gray, Interweave/F+W; $18.99

It is available now, so you can grab it in either paperback or eBook format.

An interesting twist: all of the projects in this book are knit from the same yarn: Cascade Yarns Longwood, which is an aran weight superwash merino yarn. Looking at the yarn’s Ravelry page, I can see that it comes in a wide variety of pretty colors.

The book has a great variety of patterns from a lot of designers whose names you will recognize. You can check out all the patterns on Ravelry, here.

Some of my favorites:

Motif Mittens040115 199x240 Wanderlust

“Motif Mittens” designed my Angela Hahn. These take just one skein of Cascade Longwood and being aran weight, would be pretty quick to knit — great for last minute gifts, or maybe to get a jump on next year’s gifting season?

WinterWaves040115 176x240 Wanderlust

And this is the “Winter Waves” hat designed by Melissa LaBarre. Again, just one skein needed to complete!

There are also bigger projects:

Snoqualmie040215 166x240 Wanderlust

This is the gorgeous Snoqualmie Wrap by Beth Kling.

And this:

LadyGansey040115 199x240 Wanderlust

Ann Weaver’s wonderful Lady Gansey cardigan.

With a total of 46 patterns in this one book, it is definitely good value.

In other news . . .

I did finish the Pompeii Hat on Sunday.

Hat040115 240x205 Wanderlust

Because it is April, Dottie and Inga are wearing their new April dresses!

And guess what? Today is my 13th blogiversary! Thirteen years ago today (April 1, 2002) I started my blog. No fooling.

Loki sez:

“Thirteen years? No way!”
