My current work in progress:

Geiger by Norah Gaughan, knit from Wollmeise Merino DK in the “Schwefel” colorway, using 3.25mm and 3.75mm needles.

Alodia Mods

I continue to work on my Alodia hooded scarf and at this point I have close to the desired length in the scarf portion.

WIP083015 240x156 Alodia Mods

I made some mods to the pattern (which is found in the newest Twist Collective and is also available for purchase from Ravelry). The pattern is created from three charts: the two side cables which are mirror image of each other, and the wide center panel. The center panel is not evenly divisible by the two side charts. The center panel consists of 44 rows and the side panels are 24 rows.

This annoyed me,  so I re-charted the center panel to have 48 rows. Now for every two pattern repeats of the side cables I work one repeat of the center panel.

While working the first repeat I found an error in the center panel chart:

Row 6, Stitch 14 should be a twisted knit stitch, not a purl.

If you happen to have this pattern and you have version 08.02.15, be aware of this. I did email Twist Collective about the error so it will no doubt be corrected in later versions.

And now for something completely different, a bowlful of Loki.

I finally, at long last, finished Boxy last week!

Boxy082315 207x240 Boxy

I started Boxy on April 19 and finished it on August 19. But I did complete a lot of other projects during that time, including two cardigans, three shawls, a whole bunch of animals and bunny dresses.

To recap, Boxy is knit from Handmaiden Mini Maiden in the Polar Sea colorway on a U.S. size 4 needle. Here’s a close-up of the neckline:

I haven’t tried it on yet, so can’t comment on how I like it at this point.

Next up:

Yarn082315 240x135 Boxy

This is Swan’s Island Organic Merino Wool, worsted weight, in the Eucalyptus color. This is what I’m knitting:

Alodia082315 240x122 Boxy

That’s Alodia, a hooded scarf designed by Moira Engel that is in the newest edition of the Twist Collective. Stay tuned for more on that!

Loki can’t hardly wait!

Match & Move

I finished Match & Move on Friday.

MatchandMove081615 206x240 Match & Move

I knit this from Wollmeise Pure in the Sabrina and Tambopata colorways.

MatchandMove081615a 240x124 Match & Move

After finishing I had only 2 grams of the Sabrina left, and 35 grams of Tambopata.

To block I simply ran it through a delicate cycle in my washer & dryer. I put the shawl in a mesh bag to protect it and took it out of the dryer when still a little damp. It came out looking lovely!

This was my August Camp Loopy project, so I finished with plenty of time to spare.

I have now returned to knitting on Boxy, and will finish that before I start anything new.

Loki is busy, meanwhile, exploring new napping positions!

Cat Days

The winner of my review copy of Deck the Halls: 20+ Knitted Christmas Ornaments is Alice Moisen, who has been emailed. Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway.

Yesterday was International Cat Day, so Loki and I have been celebrating This weekend Loki has played, napped, ate and slept, so he is keeping up his end of the bargain in his employment as my cat.

I have been happily knitting along on Match & Move. Here is the state of it right now:

WIP0809151 240x118 Cat Days

I have 10 more rows to knit in the current stripe, and then two more 48-row stripes to work, so I am on track to finish before the Camp Loopy deadline. It is nicely mindless knitting at this point, and I love the colors, but I am also looking ahead to starting something a bit more challenging.

Loki sez:

“It really is hard work being a cat!”

Christmas in . . . August?

I have another really cute book to review.

bookcover080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

This is Deck the Halls: 20+ Knitted Christmas Ornaments and it is from Annie’s Knitting. The link takes you to Annie’s website, where you can order this great little book in either hardcopy or electronic download, for the very reasonable price of $9.99 for each format.

As you no doubt have figured out from the title, this is a collection of Christmas Ornaments that you can knit, and they vary from easy to intermediate.

I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites to show here because they are all so darned cute! But here goes:

Rendeer080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

I love, love, love this wee reindeer!

Elf080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

And the elf is also too cute for words.

Snowflake080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

The little snowflake is a great way to practice stranded colorwork without the commitment of a big project.

Sheep080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

A little sheep! The body is knit with a textured bulky yarn so it is easier than it looks. I think you could use a worsted yarn held with a strand of laceweight mohair to achieve a similar result.

Socks080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

How could i not include the wee socks among my favorite? You can really go wild with creativity on these with just tiny bits of yarn.

Mittens080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

And the same goes for the mittens.

Sweaters080515 180x240 Christmas in . . . August?

And the tiny sweaters too!

A lot of these ornaments would be great as embellishments on special gifts or as a holiday pin for your coat.

If you got started now, you could whip out a lot of adorable little embellishments by thew time the holidays roll around.

And to help, I’ll offer up my review copy, even though I selfishly want to keep it!

To be entered in the drawing to win my review copy of Deck the Halls: 20+ Knitted Christmas Ornaments leave a comment on this blog post by 11:00 am Eastern Time on Sunday, August 9, 2015. I’ll choose a recipient at random them.

Camp Loopy

August is the last month of Camp Loopy 2015, and here is my progress on my Camp Loopy project:

WIP080515 240x130 Christmas in . . . August?

This is Martina Behm’s Match & Move and I am knitting mine from Wollmeise Pure in the Sabrina and Tambopata colorways. This combo makes for nice subtle stripes.

I’m just a bit over one-third done at this point.

Loki wants you to know how tiring it is being beautiful and spoiled all the time.
