The mystery project I showed in my last blog post is this:
Lucy Neatby’s Fiesta Bag!
I following Lucy Neatby on Instagram and a little while back she was offering the pattern for sale pre-publication as a fundraiser for Alberta Fire Relief — so that’s when I bought the pattern. (The fund-raiser is now over: knitters raised $2,800 for the Canadian Red Cross.)
You can now buy the pattern via Lucy’s website, here.
I wanted to make a good-sized bag so elected to make mine from worsted weight yarn. For the solid color I chose Madelinetosh Tosh Vintage in the “Farmhouse White” colorway. It took my quite a while to find a variegated worsted weight yarn for the contrast. I finally ended up buying a merino/tencel blend from an etsy seller: Felt Buddies and Co.
I added an applied i-cord at the top edge for added stability:
Anyway, the pattern was very entertaining and well-written and I am enjoying every minute of the knitting.
What’s next?
Well, I can start my next Camp Loopy project on July 1. Until then I will be playing with these:
I’m going to be doing a colorwork project with these colors. Well, mostly these colors. I haven’t quite finalized the palette yet!
Loki has been a big help to me this weekend:
Love your bag!!! Lucy is amazing!!! I love all of her designs. Need to follow her website more closely. Missed seeing this pattern. Great cause with a great designer.
Nice bag. That’s a lot of Wollemeise! I’ll be curious to see what you are upto.
Beautiful bag, ill have to check out Lucy’s designs.
Pook Loki, It is a very tiring work to supervise your knitting. Beautiful work and a great thanks to the knitter who help the Red Cross.
Great bag: bright, colorful and perfect for summer. Lovely assortment of yarns for the colorwork project, looking forward to see what it becomes.

Nice bag! Wendy, Loki is adorable. Cats have raised sleeping to a fine art.
Your bag is sooo cute. But the thing that made me gasp was all the wollmeise. Be still my heart!
